Here is a list of benchmarks for SWBF3 at 1080p with various GPU's.  The lowest GPU on the list, the R7 370, is equal or slightly better to the AMD minimum requirement of a 7850.  The Nvidia minimum is a GTX 660.

Here is a GPU hierarchy chart, you can see very low to top tier GPU's ranked.
It even lists some integrated/laptop gpu's.

Here is a list of parts for a new PC, I put together on PC Part Picker.  For a new computer of minimum standards, it costs about 600 dollars.

The plug is finally going to be unplugged may 31.  So it looks like the remaining SWBF2 players will be playing on Tunngle also now.  Also a chance to maybe get a few players to try SWBF1 on tunggle also, who previously had not.

A Death Star Map seems to be a must have in the new Battlefront, but what improvements could be made in a Death Star map??

I think one thing that could be improved, is to have at a minimum 2 levels or floors.  That is 2 floors stacked, one on top of the other, accessible by a large set of stairs or ramps in one area, and just an elevator in another area.

Imagine having an elevator that you have to take to get to the detention level.  And if on the detention level, you blast the elevator controls, the door freezes shut, and can only be opened by blasting it open with a weapon.

They could have a larger trash compactor, with a trash monster in it, that gobbles up 1 out of every 10 that pass thru, haha.

Governor Tarkin would be a good hero for the imperial side.  For the rebels they could have Han Solo with a stormtrooper disguise kit.

Perhaps they could have the throne room from ROTJ's Death Star.

Another interesting option would be to allow troops to move inside the Death Star cannons' firing chamber.  As of now, if you go down into the chamber you die automatically.  But if they make running through the chamber as some sort of short cut, you could have battles there, and then have the cannon fire every 5 minutes or so, wiping out any troops left in the area.

The Death Star map seems too small and bland in SWBF2, but even at small and bland, the Death Star map is one of the best.

I play SWBF1 & 2 with a gamepad, as this is how I first played them on consoles, and now PC.  Are there any other simple FPS/TPS out there, that have good gamepad support???

Other Games / Lord of the Rings Conquest
March 31, 2013, 10:57:50 PM
Has anyone played this game?  I Bought this a like 3 years ago or so, and I remember I played it online once, and then they took the servers offline a week later.

It has a similar style to SWBF, which is why I bought it, but since the company decided to kill the servers while the game was still new, I uninstalled the game and never bothered with it again.  Now that we have tunngle I am going to try it again.

BTW, I never seen any of the Lord of the Rings films, just thought it was an interesting game.

Hey I came across something today I have never seen.  There is a tunggle-like software for LAN emulation to enable people to play ps2/ps3 xbox/xbox360 games via LAN mode.  The only thing that is absolutely necessary is the game must support LAN play already.

Here are some related links :

This guy has made a patch for Halo trial to substitute for the gamespy servers.  Basically it subs another master server in place of the gamespy servers. http://www.freewebs.com/broomish/haloserverlistfix.htm

So this means there may be other options for SWBF in the future.  At the moment, Tunggle is still seems the best option.

I never played via direct connect before, I looked at it today, and if you host via direct connect, you can only have maximum 4 players.

Is it possible to use direct connect to join a regular SWBF server, if you have the IP address, to play with 12 or 16 players??

Star Wars Battlefront (2004 Original) / GameRanger issue
November 11, 2012, 03:09:36 AM
Gameranger won't allow you to start from the shortcut, it will only recognize the battlefront.exe file.  I even tried renaming the shortcut to "battlefront.exe", but gameranger would have no part of that, it wants the large battlefront.exe file only.  So it looks like we are stuck at 15 fps (or whatever the original online low fps default was).

Gameranger is the most convenient, although tunggle may be the best way to play without the proper server.  I have a 2 computer network connected via crossover cable, and in the past I used Hamatchi (similar to tunngle) and it messed up my network.

Hopefully the servers will be back up soon, or I may have to play start playing some SWBF2 again, haha.  SWBF1 is my favorite though.
