You read that right
Christmas 2014 Modding Competition

Perhaps you've been bashed on the head with a brick and you haven't noticed that it's time to get fabulously festive.

So, to continue our vague tradition of holding thematic modding competitions we would like you modders to make a mod about... Christmas or generic winter festivity (whatever floats your boat).

We'd like to keep it pretty open, so it could be a mod of any sort really... as long as it's festive.
The deadline shall be somewhere in January, as I don't really expect anyone to pull off a groovy mod before Christmas, as you're all probably busy (or will be) drowning in eggnog.

Entrants will probably receive some kind of shiny award with the winner getting an even shinier one.

In case you thought this looked familiar, above this line was the post last year.  And I thought it was good enough to quote from Unit 33 :)

Anyway, the winner will most likely be decided by a poll or something, and not me, because I've already started working on something.  Don't think of it as a stress... think of it as one way to celebrate the holidays!  So many assets are floating around here as well as creative modders who may be willing to help.  So, get on your sleigh and get going!  Please post to participate.

----This message brought to you by the Ghost of Christmas Future.

Participants:
Dark_Phantom - A Tatooine Christmas
Anyder -  Christmas Stock Map Reskins
Snake - Serpentown

I'll join since the deadline is going to be after christmas. I'm working on (at least) 7 new mods that will be released at the same time, one is finished already but the rest most likely won't be done until late January. At least one of them will be christmas themed.

*whispers* I-I think I will participate in this..

If my mod tools behave correctly, that is. For now, I am planning to participate since I am off for Christmas break and have nothing to do while everyone else is at work/school. (Only perk of being in college)

I was planning on releasing my map around this time, but I suppose it could serve as an entry.
I'm in.

I'm dropping out of the christmas mod competition, since most of my reskins probably won't be finished by next month and they are more themed around Outer Space than Christmas anyway. They're taking longer since I want to maximize the aesthetic quality and test ideas such as reflective MSH settings and SK's chameleon cheat tables. 2 or 3 maps will be released this month and the rest later as they are finished. At least 7 stock map reskins of Jovian/Saturn moons are planned currently. Good luck to the rest of the modders, I look forward to seeing all the new mods!

What Anyder said is correct:  I am looking at making the deadline 7pm EST (Midnight GMT) on January 4th.  After that, unless something crazy happens, I will open up a poll for the final voting.

Thanks!

Doing some more traveling, can't release my map in time. It'll still have an optional christmas skin/theme though.

edit- If the deadline is far enough into january, I might still be able to submit my work in time, but there will definitely be patches (I kind of spammed lights everywhere, totally forgetting that I wasn't in Unity3d editor..)

I released my mod on here (http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=8741.0).

Poll is now open!  3 days (so that means Wednesday) and then the votes and winner will be revealed!
Will it be Anyder and his Christmas skins of almost every stock map?  Or will the Serpent Snake's Serpentown win the Wild Wild West competition?  Or will the last second entry of Phantom's Dune Sea Tatooine Christmas map take the field?

Edit 1/7/15 - Voting will end a little less than 7 hours from now.

Wasn't expecting a land slide.. Congrats Anyder!
Thank you DarkPhantom and Snake for also participating, all three of your mods are definite keepers.

Sorry I couldn't get mine out in time, should be released here shortly, though ;) (I hope I didn't just jinx myself).
