Multiplayer swbf without internet connection? (Mac)

Hi, I'll be going on vacation soon where internet is not available, but I was wondering if it's still possible to play swbf multiplayer with some kind of direct connection to my friend's computer (he'll be with me)? Would an ethernet connection or something work? Thanks!

If you know how to connect both computers to the same network, it is possible to play online through the LAN option without internet. VLAN is another option but requires internet.

That works for windows at least, not sure if LAN is available for mac SWBF.

Direct Connection will work.  You will either need to share a router of some sort (wireless or hardwired) or you will need a cross over ethernet cable.

One will host the DC, and the other will connect to it using the IP address supplied by the router.
