Title: We need an mmorpg!
Post by: quik on June 17, 2010, 07:23:10 AM
MPCGamers has shooters, and fun games. But we honestly need a main FREE mmorpg for everyone to play together.

I don't know about you guys, but I personally hate playing mmorpg's alone. It gets bored. and the grinding...meh.

Anyways, we need one to play together! Any ideas?

Mine's: Ragnarok (There are plenty of private servers out there, they're free)

Free MMORPGS have a terrible habit of sucking. I'm waiting for TOR, which I figure will be pretty popular around here before I start doing that drug again :P

i think it would be better for us all to get one game and play amongst each other. We had all come to a similar consensus of TF2. anyone wants to play...

I'd love to play a  MMORPG with you guys. I've always been interestedin playing a decent free MMORPG online. But most of the ones I've found kidna suck.

I tried "Alloids Online", which was a pretty decent concept. But damn, it took so long to kill things, and it was pretty much a HUGE rip off of WoW in the way things were set up, it was ridiculous lol

But yeah, let me know if you guys find something decent, I might post here with any decent finds

Thats an expansion for EVE Online which is a paid MMO and has a steep learning curve to get into. you think WoW is a grind. this has far more grind to it than WoW ever will.

Best free to play (IMO) MMO currently out is Guildwars.  The game itself is cheap to buy and costs nothing to play.  Down side is that there is no mac version so Crossover would be needed.

Some of us have played Knights of the Old Republic, a Star Wars RPG. The MMO version is coming out next year, so I'd say we should get pumped for and then play that.

Downside is it'll be $15/mo, but honestly, if/when you play an mmo, it becomes the ONLY game you need, and your constantly getting new content, which is what the 15 plays for.

Guild Wars is also a steep learning curve,

and grinding all together isn't bad. Constant grinding is an immediate turnoff. I've been bouncing mmorpg's. pristontale, maplestory, etc. I'm at a loss. We need an mmorpg with good graphics, fun skills, and easy to play.

I played dark orbit for a week or so (the spammage finally got to me) But, i was utterly rubbish, since then i'm frightened of MMORPGs... Might have a go at the old republic though... seeing as you can be a smuggler... :cheer:

Yeah TOR looks like the best option at the moment.

Mac users will have to wait and see when (or maybe even if) it comes out for Mac.  If it doesn't we will have to see if Bioware will support bootcamp/crossover users (since you can't get in on the beta no matter what you do on a mac).

Every single pc program ever made works on boot camp depending on the operating system you install

I know all programs work...it is just Bioware is currently not allowing any Mac machines (even running in bootcamp) to apply for the trial.  I haven't tried it via bootcamp but my friends have (using windows XP, Vista, 7) and it will not complete the system scan (I have tried it on Parallels).

well, maybe they have an issue with the scan...

I really wouldn't mind an MMORPG with more emphasis on action, rather than menus. It's why I can't wait for FFXIII Versus. While it's not MMO, it's an RPG and it's a bit more action based than the main FF series.

With that said, why do RPG games HAVE to be menu-based? I mean it isn't the 80s anymore, we're capable of doing far more things.

Nah. Money's not the issue. The thing is my computer probably couldn't handle it. I mean, it's a multitasking monster, but it's just not a gaming computer.

I believe the demo no longer functions because the full game is released. I may be mistaken.

I've double-checked. The demo doesn't work anymore. Just like with the L4D 1 demo.

Quotelol at one point this forum tried to adopt WoW as a main game and imho it killed the forum for a while there because everyone was so addicted to WoW they didn't have time to post lol

This isn't true. The people who went to play WoW were all older than 20 (Myself, Weili, Wrath Raina, Ghost, Creamies, Nightfalcon) with the exception of Millionaire (who was more mature than the rest of us anyways). At the time we began playing, the median age of poster on this forum decreased dramatically, and I can speak for Weili and Tim that it just became pointless to talk to middle-schoolers all day. And actually as I recall, Maxthemace was a prime example of the immaturity that cause our exit en masse.

Technically, we couldn't have been playing WoW instead of posting, because our prime forum hours were from 9-5 while we were at our very grown up jobs. WoW was always played in the evenings (with the exception of Weili who played from his desk at times), so what you really would have seen less activity in was the DC's and game ranger.

TL:DR - Try Runes of Magic.

I actually just started playing WoW again, if you guys don't mind paying the sub fees you could come play :P

If you do, ask me and I can recruit you as a friend. I swear I don't get any benefits from it. Right Jera?

ag <-- Wrath had to deal with this middle-school kid. It's been a while since then and I've definitely been less of a pain on the forums since then... but I'm still a pain on the forums. :P

Sounds like you're trying to prove your age and maturity awfully hard.  Does being older and wiser than other people really matter that much to you? It seems like every thread I look at you are saying something that has to do with how old you are and how smart and experienced you are. So you are older than the majority of us would you like recognition for that great feat? All I did was post my opinion don't get so defensive lol. Who is being immature here?
