Nope. Bomber and I tried it with Chrome, Firefox, IE and in none of those browsers worked. Then he connected to his vps and I connected to my root and it didnt work either, so i guess it just doesnt work lol

They've been updating that page like 5 times, anyway...

EDIT Now it does

Oh man farewell Xfire.
I guess their competitor Steam took the upper hand.
They are using some sort of queue time to retrieve user's files, so maybe you didn't access to the page because too much people were trying to access the archives.

QuotePlease wait - Your archive is being processed...

You are #1105 in queue
Note: You can close this window and visit later; Your data is still being processed in the background.

Very disappointing to see this. I've logged over 11k hours so I'm trying to import them to either evolve or raptr but it might not work in time :(
Anyway, I'm not sure what our clan will use for IM now. I don't like steam so I'll probably continue using something that has a plugin for pidgin. If I find a way to transfer xfire hours to something else I'll post it here.

I saved some videos from xfire before this happened and will try to upload them later. Maybe led can host an xfire pics/video archive in the download section, or would this take too much space? We should try to save cull's videos, battlebelk's, and any other important ones if possible. The SWBF community relied heavily on xfire for communication and now that it's gone we will have to find something else.

It could also create a lot of content for a potential SWBFGamers Youtube channel.

We have our own screen shot gallery that we can use for individual shots.

We can upload archives of videos, but we should be somewhat selective.

I found a way to save the videos.
You need this tool (it's possible without, but it's much easier with the tool) VideoCacheView
Every video you stream in your browser is actually already downloaded to your computer. Into the cache.
I saved almost every BattleBelk video:

One is missing: (idk why, but this video is buggy in my cache and I can't export it to .mp4)
Wireframe ATAT

The screenshot gallery does not work for me. I'll try it later.

Edit:
If I got all BattleBelk files, I'm gonna create an archive and Upload it to my mediafire account and/or to swbfgamers if allowed

http://crash.xfire.com/profile/

you can save your profile page by going this link add your username after the profile/
http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/39a41v/xfire_social_profiles_shutdown_save_your/

it looks like this might work for saving screenshots and videos selectively also. save what you can while its still up.

to save xfire video you can copy the URL here
http://www.clipconverter.cc/

it will download as mp4 but it might be slower than viathan's method or using the export feature.

You can verify xfire account through raptr by right clicking the icon and going to "friends & accounts" then click the wrench icon "add account" type in your xfire user and pass then it will verify your xfire ID in the account details -> identities & achievements. i clicked sync xfire hours with raptr so it might add them in a few hours if not its probably too late to import them.

I'm 3708 in queue... I predict a 24 hour wait at current rates and I bet they turn everything off before they finish...
It will certainly be harder to organise battlefront games now, I expect it's too late for someone to save the chat client now with so little warning so this is the end of an era.

It's sad that I've got 144 friends on X-fire that I've talked to at some point and most of them I will now have no way to contact or speak to again.

If anyone wants to add me I'm on Origin (glynh92)for the new battlefront and I accept a few friend requests on Steam (gdh92/glynh in game)

I wish we could have had more notice--there are a lot of people I will likely lose contact with.

I would like to see the community decide as a whole where we will be relocating, rather than everyone going to this-or-that IM program.

Yes, a lot of the very old AaTc members that returned for the new battlefront were reunited via xfire. This is just terrible timing with EABF coming up and lots of old players returning. The first place they would go is xfire. We need to find a good alternative quickly. I think Steam would likely be a good candidate even though I don't have it yet.

Mine just downloaded while I was out, it doesn't help your internet connections but it means you at least don't have to stay around, it gives you one big 7zip folder that contains everything - the only downside is you lose all the pictures names and descriptions.
The speed has also increased since last night.

On a side note there must be another gdh92 on evolve already :(

Edit: Apparently I used Evolve in the past  :slap:

Very sad about this. I've used Xfire for a long time and was just updating mine before all this happened.

I'm gonna try and salvage what I can from my profile, but I'm going to be migrating to Overwolf & Teamspeak. They seem to be filling that kinda roll Xfire was doing (and better at this point I might add). Once all my machines are back in working order I'll likely be hanging out in the SWBFGamers sever that Led has been so kind to host. If Overwolf is as robust as I'm assuming, it should work very well as a replacement.

PS: Not to take us off topic, but if a lot of us do go to Overwolf we should petition that SWBF1 be added to the overlay support. Cause if you scroll down to the Battlefront games only BF2 is supported. http://www.overwolf.com/supported-games/

Just to note for the future, if we do end up going that route.  :tu:

If you need details, here are a few:
-no chat logging
-no video and screen shots that auto upload (that I am aware of)
-you have to spend $5 to be able to friend and chat with people

Don't get me wrong--I like Steam, but it is not a direct replacement.

Well the difference is there's a bit more options with Xfire since you were able to take screenshots, videos and even manage live streaming through it if you wanted to. I mean most people use Twitch now, but some of the stuff all ready to use in Xfire was nice. My combo was Steam and Xfire up till this point. For whatever games Steam didn't support, Xfire could usually track and provide an overlay (with screenshot support). Also for those of us who liked the tracker it was handy to have an application that would log your hours.

Just hoping Overwolf might have some of these features to compensate for the loss.  :bye:

What do you mean by chat logging? As far as I am aware steam shows previous conversations while x-fire doesn't. It is true that videos and screenshots don't auto upload though, and you do have to buy a game to access some functions (granted this could be unappealing for some people)

Steam also has additional functions like viewing game info and automatically joining friends games, watching friends games etc.

Granted I know little about the other options so perhaps they have these functions as well.

Really? Oh man, the only reason I got Steam in the first place was to play GMod with a friend, and he gifted it to me the day i signed up, so I guess I already passed that money limit even though I haven't bought anything myself.

Xfire would (with the option set) save chats to a text file that you could access later.  If steam has this, I would like to know.

Game and server info and joining a friends game were also supported by xfire, so I didn't mention them  ;)

The big downside to Xfire was of course that it didn't actually have any games you could buy. Steam does log about a page/half page of your own sent messages (when opening the message window to said friend). It is really good for leaving  text for someone though. I've depended on it a lot in the past to send people stuff when they were offline, as you get a notification about the received messages when you log back in.

A poll would be great.
Evolve is senseless. Because using it just for its chat function..
Origin is a must have for everyone who want to buy the new SWBF.
Steam is a great place for a community. With chatrooms, private chats etc. I would vote for steam.

I originally thought EvolveHQ would be the best option, but now that I've tried Steam a bit more, I prefer it over the other messaging platforms.

A poll would be great.

I can put a poll up within the next few hours.

If anyone has any Xfire alternatives that are not listed in this (http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=9273.0) thread, let me know so I can add it to the poll.

If you're doing a poll I would suggest being able to select multiple options, I don't think everyone's going to agree the best but hopefully our other choices will match up.

Cull aka Keenmike's xfire files are 800mb in a 7z

If BattleBelk or any others were saved, I can mirror them on the root.

Picking up on this a bit late, could someone summarize this thread for me? Xfire is completely gone? Is it possible to retreive pics/vids? Do we have a standard go to for instant messaging now? thanks :tu:

You were able to retrieve your own screen shots and videos but not anymore. Most of us use Steam now.

When you have the Xfire program up it still comes up with "Xfire In-game Offline" As in Xfire isn't connected to the internet. I still believe you are able to take screen shots since Xfire In-game still works, not 100% sure though.

You can also take screenshots with Steam but not videos.
Here's how to use Steam in game; http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=9411.0

Unfortunately, my web host does not allow a shoutbox due to resource utilization.
I was wondering about that. Are there any possible alternatives for the site?

Still looking for old xfire vids? I have access to them in the old archives.
