Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005 Original) / SWBF2
June 25, 2013, 11:41:02 PM
I play SWBFII mostly now. I find rooms wih at least 20-45 people at any time. I have to say its not very, ya know, community friendly. The SWBFI online chat was always filled with friendly talk and it was fun beyond the killing etc. of the game. I miss this and would love to play with you guys again. :(
Does anyone get what I'm talking about?
Maybe a SWBFGamers.com SWBFII server we can congregate to and have a jolly ol' time?

Other Games / If You Could Only Play 3 Games?
June 23, 2013, 06:46:40 PM
If you could only play 3 games ever again which would they be and why?
1) SWBFI, you all know why
2) SWBFII, it adds to the first game with new features but pandemic modified the engine thinking they were making it better.  :slap:
3) Lego Star Wars Complete Saga, I have this game as number 3 because it is very fun with a friend/sibling and has lots to do. It will take a long time to get 100% completion. I considered RC as my number 3 but that game is only fun alone. I don't like the multiplayer that much.
Tech Support / [HELP] SWBFI Better Visual Settings?
June 23, 2013, 04:09:41 PM
I have a question for you guys. Now that I play SWBFI on a computer that can handle the (almost) top graphics of SWBFI I would like to know, of these 2 visual settings which I would get more of a visual experience?
Like which video settings option would I have SWBFI looking better.

Video Options 1:

Video Options 2:

The main thing is the different resolutions, vsync, and anti-antialiasing.

Hey guys, I'm making this topic so that I can tell you about the best SWBFI converted maps for SWBFII I've ever played.

It is Marvel4's conversion pack. It includes ALL SWBFI maps (excluding Jabba, Hoth, and Endor) converted perfectly for SWBFII. The maps use stock sides so that you can run them with side mods or what ever you like. They all look very much like the SWBFI map in terms of lighting, textures etc.

I recommend getting this map pack if you play SWBFII and you don't like the conversion pack (like me, that mod is overrated).

Here is the download link: https://www.wuala.com/Marvel4/swbf2/marvel4s_bf1_conversion_pack_1.1.exe

Here is the release topic on Gametoast: http://gametoast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=23377

Enjoy! Oh and you get to play as Pandemic's Kit Fisto ( :cheer: ) and Asajj Ventress!! They have their powers and moves straight from the Xbox DLC!
So really, try it out if you want to play SWBFI maps (the best maps ever) in another game, and what better game than SWBFII!

Videos and Screen Shots / SWCG is BACK!
June 17, 2013, 07:23:20 PM
Hey guys, so me and my little brother decided to start a YouTube channel just for fun. It isn't anything serious and it's more fun than anything else.
We are calling the series SWCG, or Star Wars Commentary Gaming. We will be playing the couple of 2 player games we have and commentating during the gameplay.

Do me a favor and go in with low expectations. We filmed with an iPad and the quality is kinda bad, but I'm not going to invest $$ into a camera and microphones. So tell me what you think! It's not supposed to be professional, just like you're sitting in the room watching us play together.

Our first video is Battlefront on the PS2 and an unintentional CC dual the entire map!

Our second video is Lego Star Wars II, read the description on the video because we made a boo boo talking about Sharad and A'Sharad Hett.  :slap: (it's uploading as I create this topic so you might not see it for a while)
EDIT: Lego Star Wars II video is up as well.

Here is the channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/kitfisto15678/videos

Subscribe if you like the commentary or just leave a like. Remember, low expectations. Just go in thinking, these guys are just having fun.

Requests / off topic post by kit

Quote from: tirpider on June 16, 2013, 10:47:47 PM
I'll dig it out.. just a cpl min....

-edit
It is attached.
The zip has both, regular Anakin and the cloaked Anakin from the SWBF2 assets.
This is completely off topic Tirpider but are you familiar with the Sharad Hett and A'Sharad Hett stories? Them being Tusken Force users and all. I ask this because your profile picture reminds me of a comic I think Sharad Hett was in. I have a couple "Star Wars Omnibus" full of different Star Wars comics and the Tusken Jedi are in them.
#87
EDIT: I retract this request. I just tried "Battlefront Evolved" an OC mod for SWBFII. I'm gonna use that mod for a long time because it is VERY cool!
Hey guys, I have a SWBFII skin request. I don't know exactly how OC mods work for SWBFII but I've seen some before and my request seems simple (I think).
So this is how I would like it:

Clone skins for ALL maps look like they do in Geonosis. So Phase I clones. But I would like the Clone Commando to have a Yellow commander skin. Like this...

First person view changes would be awesome but not necessary.

For the CIS I would like them all to have their SWBFI skins in SWBFII. So that means:

SBD=not changed
Assault Droid=SWBFII pilot droid skin
Assassin Droid=SWBFII Assault droid skin
Engineer=not changed (Yes I know that it's technically supposed to be a clean droid skin but I like the Yellow droid  )
MagnaGuard= The magnaguard model with the cape, like in the 1.2 patch.
Deka=not changed

IMPS

These are the only unit skins I want changed

Engineer=SWBFII pilot skin
IMP officer=Actual IMP officer skin, like this

But on Hoth keep this skin:

Rebel Alliance

These are the changes I would like

Soldier=SWBFI soldier skin,
so desert maps=SWBFI desert skin. However some SWBFII maps call on the wrong skin for the Rebels (example Coruscant, why would the Rebels wear desert gear on a City planet? If someone wants to do this I'll put exact Rebel specific skins.

Vanguard=SWBFI Rebel Vanguard skin

Sniper= SWBFI Rebel Sniper skin

Engineer=SWBFII Rebel Pilot skin

Bothan=SWBFI Bothan skin (I'll give a link)

Wookiee=SWBFI Wookiee skin.

And that's it! I hope that someone has some free time and would like to do this, I think it would be a cool mod for SWBFII and spice up online play. Please post if you are going to do it so I can add additional details!
Thanks and please consider this request! :)
Hey guys, I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to create a tutorial on how to play SWBFII PC on a Mac? The tutorial would be almost the same as my "How to play SWBF on Mac 10.5.8 or higher" tutorial. I have lots of time on my hands now and if you guys think it would benifit the community (both SWBFI and II) then I'll do it. Let me know what you guys think.

Hey guys. So a while back gogo12 (one of the best mappers for SWBFI) released some maps on Gametoast that were never released here. I got a hold of him and he reuploaded all of his best maps.
But here's the problem. It's on gamefront and they delete files fast. So could someone reupload these maps individually or all in the pack? I can't download the package right now so I can't do it. Hurry! Reupload!

Other Games / KOTOR for iPad
June 02, 2013, 01:55:32 PM
I would have thought there would have been a topic about this already but I guess not.

KOTOR has been ported to the iPad by Aspyr! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/star-wars-knights-old-republic/id611436052?mt=8

Thoughts? It seems to be fairly popular because it is one of the top 10 apps for the iPad right now, and it came out the 31st.

Here are my thoughts. Aspyr is the same company who ported SWBFI to the Mac OS. But they stopped supporting the game and you can't buy it anywhere. They released KOTOR for the iPad in celebration of the games 10th anniversary, and SWBFI's 10th is next year. Battlefront with a touch screen anyone?

SWBF1 Modding / "Mod" SWBFI PS2?
May 28, 2013, 04:50:16 PM
Hey guys, so here is the story I was playing SWBFI on PS2 and I thought, "Wouldn't it be cool for this game to be natively widescreen? Or even be able to convert to a higher pixel amount!"
So that is my question is it possible to hex edit SWBFI PS2 to be widescreen or even to make the game play in 480p or higher. (now its 480i)
Would someone like to help me figure out how to do it? I've seen other forums discuss getting other games to work in widescreen, I don't know about getting 480p or higher.

There is a PS2 emulator if anyone wants to try and help even if they don't have a PS2.

I know the PS2 version of the game can't have any PC mods but maybe we can make the game better by hex editing it to widescreen and even "show" a better "res!" (you know what I mean ;) )

Scummies / Good news and Bad news
May 27, 2013, 07:51:56 PM
I have some good news (for some of you) and some bad news for (some of) you guys. I'll start with the bad news. Well despite popular belief I'm capable of being an idiot in certain situations. I spilled water over my laptop keyboard and didn't really clean it the way I'm supposed to. Long story short, it broke. It doesn't work anymore. Me and my Dad did manage to salvage the drive so I still have my ports for SWBFI, SWBFII, and SWRC. But I don't have a computer to play them on. I'm done with games on the PC. I have no way to play them. I do however have my old PowerBook G4 from like 500 years ago that runs SWBFI Mac version. So when I see a real good mod/map I might boot it up and play the map.

So yea. Computer is gone. No more xfire or playing any games online. That is until I go to college and (maybe) get a computer. :cheer:

Now the good news. Moderators and Admin, I'm happy to announce I will be on this forum a lot less now that I can't really play SWBFI PC. I'll come by every once in a while but not as often, and I won't "spam" (what you guys call spam) anymore. ;) Now you can have your little moderator party in the moderators board!

So you guys think I'm not going to play any more SWBFI/II period?  :censored: NO!!! I've got my PS2 with a good collection of Star Wars games I've built/am building up so I'll be on that, just not the computer. I'm not letting go of my drug yet!  ;)

If I'm officially leaving here at any point I'll let someone know.

As I was looking around Gametoast I came across a nice little topic that had a link to where I could download some SWBFI Concept art and production art.

Little did I know that this would include OVER 100 images of SWBFI in its various stages of production.

It even has names of people who created the things you see in the image. Including Psych0fred!

It doesn't matter if you mod this game or not, it's just fun to look through the various images. I strongly suggest you download it and take a look at the cool images that this has. They really are awesome. I have decided to host just the SWBFI pictures (since the original download had other games) to make it easier for you all.

Unfortunately I could only compress it on my Mac, which means that if your on a PC and decompress the .zip file you will see random junk. Pay no attention to that stuff, once you see a folder named "Battlefront Images" and there are folders, pictures and a README in there your at the right place.

Here is the README
README

ALL credits go to Darth D.U.C.K. These are not mine and I only uploaded them to give just the Battlefront I images.

See this link for more information and Darth D.U.C.K.'s release thread:

SWBF1 Modding / CORUSCANT Mapping Contest!
May 14, 2013, 06:15:43 PM
Hello everyone! I am announcing my first ever mapping contest! This is the

Here are the rules:

1) The map must be original, no ports of any SWBFII maps or copying of SWBFI maps. You can use any assets you find to create the map though.

2) The map must have stock sides. This is so that people can focus on the map design and not get distracted by the sides.

3) The map must be submitted by August 1st. That is more than 2 months so that you can create an amazing map!

Now here is a couple things that might give you an extra +1 when the judges judge your map!

1) Give the GCW units their correct stock skins, last I checked the Rebels didn't wear desert clothes on Coruscant. In short, make a custom mission.lvl for your map.  ;)

2) AI pathing, hint nodes for AI involving snipers mine layings etc. No AI running into walls or getting stuck. Make sure the AI can fight an entire round of the map on their own in a reasonable amount of time.

3) A mini map and a movie at the map selection screen.

Oh and I should mention that I think the most amazing Coruscant maps ever made are Rends Coruscant City and Streets.  ;)

There you have it! The Coruscant Mapping Contest, deadline August 1st.

I recently found a nice channel on YouTube called the SWBFCommunity. This channel puts up SWBF video's regularly. But I noticed that they are mostly SWBFII. The channel says that it will put up both SWBFI and II videos. So, for those who make videos on a regular basis, you could put up little movies and what not just by having the SWBFCommunity intro and by sending it to one of the admin. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheSWBFCommunity

Even if you don't make videos I would subscribe since there are some pretty nice videos. It would also be nice to have a channel that has a lot of subscribers and SWBFI and II videos.

Public Square / With the new forum games board...
April 20, 2013, 04:00:56 PM
So with the recent activity on the new forum games board I was going to ask once again if we could have a media board.

This board could be a child board of the "General" board. It would be used to discuss everything MEDIA. (mostly Star Wars stuff  ::) )

Could we have this?

Released Maps and Mods / Majin Revan maps
April 14, 2013, 02:51:19 PM
As you may have noticed I just uploaded almost all of Majin Revan's most current maps. All except 2. These 2 are not on this site yet. I couldn't upload them due to the size limit HostGator has placed on us.
Could someone please upload them here? I can make a description for the uploader so all they have to do is copy and paste. Here are the 2 files:

http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/file/Kashyyyk_Shores;47010

http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/file/Myrkr_Show_of_Force;45966

Please let me know if an admin is going to upload these so that I can create the description for them.

EDIT: Here are the descriptions since they don't take me that long to do...

Description:

Well, this is my Kashyyyk: Shores (Version 3.0 Size Reduction) map.
This map has been COMPLETELY redone. Many might faint by seeing what I have done to this map.
It takes places in a sea of Kashyyyk with islands and a Wookiee village on one of the islands.

Here's what has changed since the last version:

* The MAF has been renamed to MAF, as it isn't the same thing as the HMP Droid Gunship.
* The STAP has a fast speed, as it should.
* The map has been turned dark, and there is lightning and cloudy skies.
* The bot routes, most barriers, and hintnodes have all been painstakingly redone.
* The AAT rocks! It has four passenger slots, as it should, with the correct weapons!
* The IAAT is no longer a prototype, as the GCW Era is now the Post-GCW Era. It has been fixed like the AAT.
* The TX-130S and TX-130T have three passenger slots each now, as they should.
* The sky now has flying objects.
* Every weapon, vehicle, soldier class, soldier name, vehicle name, and weapon name have been corrected and fixed. You will find TONS of fixes.
* The whole map has been tested many times and no found errors remain. TONS of stuff has been redone!
* This map is no longer the same.
* The size of the map is smaller.
* Commander Gree is on the battlefield.
* A new movie has been added.
* So much stuff has been redone that I have probably left out stuff that could fit in another list that is double this size.
* DooFi did the following skins:

     - Commander Gree
     - ILAAT/i
     - Imperial Waveskimmer Transport
     - Republic 41st Elite Corps. Soldier
     - Republic Clone Commando
     - Republic Clone Trooper Pilot (RotS)
     - Republic Prototype TIE Fighter
     - Republic Waveskimmer Transport
     - Vulture Droid Starfighter

****
****
A BIG shout out to DooFi, Qdin, and Delta_57_Dash for the work they did on this map.
DooFi's skins can be found at every corner of my map, every Republic soldier has a skin of DooFi's! He rocks!!
Qdin modelled the Republic Clone Commando weapons (except for the Sonic Detonators). That was some hard work! It took a while, but rocks!
Delta_57_Dash made the ODF files for Qdin's weapons. I hadn't felt like doing them (but I had to make large changes to the rifle and sniper ones).
****
****

This map could have never been created without L-5-R's and Saturn_V_SWBF's help.
I used Saturn_V_SWBF's TIE Interceptor
I also used L-5-R's T-21 Light Repeating Blaster model.
Also, I cannot forget my loyal testers CloneWarrior90/Revan, Delta_57_Dash, and DooFi.
I added an underwater sunken Wookiee village for him as well.
Thanks, you guys!!

First things first, an apology for how bad the distance range is.
I had to lower it and lower it more so the game wouldn't crash.
You may still experience crashes because of the whole map being filled with water.
Try lowering settings too if needed. It does not crash for me!
Sometimes it is just a typical SWBF crash. Many shipped and user-made maps do this.

The map takes place on Kashyyyk and it can be played in both Eras.
There is a ton of water, so slower computers may experience lag.

CW Era Story- The CIS is attacking Kashyyyk in order to enslave them.
The Republic has forged an alliance with the Wookiees and are trying their best to stop the CIS.
This was kind of supposed to parallel the Battle of Kashyyyk in RotS.

Post-GCW Era Story- The Rebel Alliance has allied with the Wookiees.
Kashyyyk, an Imperial-held world, is struggling for freedom from the Empire.
The Wookiees have joined the Rebel Alliance in this battle.
The Empire is trying to stop the Rebel Alliance from liberating Kashyyyk.

One might think that too many Wookiess spawn, but think, this is the Wookiee homeworld.

Description:

O.K., this is Myrkr: Show of Force (Version 2.1 Size Reduction).
I basically deleted useless files and added tiny things in (Force powers and their sounds, skin changes, bug fixes).
I also decided to remove Darth Vader and put Grand Admiral Thrawn in instead.
Also, this takes place after the movies suring the time of the Imperial Remnant and the New Republic.

Here is last version's README file:

This is a major update.

Here is a list of new features:

* Every vehicle can be used by any team (besides mobile command posts).
* The Rebel Bothan Spy has made it into this map as well.
* There is a new vehicle, the Rebel Bothan Spy Speeder. The main weapons are Stouker Concussion Rifles. The secondary weapon is the Modified TB-47 Time Bomb. The gunner's weapon is the Repulsor Cannon, kind of like a Force Push.
* Bot routes have been streamlined.
* Barriers have been fixed.
* Some floating objects have been placed on the ground.
* New spawn points.
* There are TIE Fighters and T-65 X-wings soraing through the sky. There are exactly 72 TIE Fighters and 120 T-65 X-wings.
* The map has been streamlined overall.

This map could have never been created without L-5-R's and Saturn_V_SWBF's help.
-=RedKitten=-, thanks a lot for testing!!
General Mobo, you caused this map to be created!! You wanted a map with AT-AT's versus AT-TE's.
TK-8252 also helped a ton!! He gave me the correct names of every weapon...
The new T-21 Light Repeating Blaster that the Imperial Phase II Dark Trooper uses was created by L-5-R!!
Also, CGArtist, I used one of your skies. It is beautiful. Thanks for creating such a sky!! I love it!!]
Psych0fred, thanks for creating the Rebel Bothan Spy!
Thanks, you guys!!

The map takes place on Myrkr and it can be played in the GCW Era.
There are eight walkers, so slower computers may get lag...

GCW Era Story- The Rebels and Imperials clash on Myrkr, a planet full of life and only inhabited by colonists.
The Myrkr Independent Colonists do not want to have their peaceful planet to be involved in the war between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire.
They will fight against both sides to keep them out!! Beware of them, they are bloodthirsty!!
The Rebel Alliance is testing three new vehicles here. One is the new Liberator-class AT-TE. Another is the 74-Z Speederbike (Sniper Variation). The last vehicle is the Rebel Bothan Spy Speeder.
This is the ultimate battle between AT-AT's and AT-TE's.

Description:

Well, here we are with Naboo: Kaadara Coast (Version 2.0)
It's pretty cool. Like, seriously!
By the way, Lord Bandu and Era Of Desann helped come up with the name!
This map is designed to be similar to the Omaha Beach attacks.

Here is a list of new things in this map:

* There are two bunkers now.
* The units for the Galactic Republic have been completely redone.
* The Trade Federation Sniper Battle Droid now has the camoflauge skin from SWBF 2.
* The GCW has become the Post-GCW.
* Certain units for the New Republic and the Galactic Empire Remnant have been changed (and skinned by DooFi).
* The Gungans now carry the same weapons as in (Saga Battles) Naboo: Ouch Time! (Version 1.0).
* More Kaadus are available, closer to the bases.
* Many other changes occured to streamline and perfect the map.

This map could have never been created without Psych0fed's help.
One last thanks goes out to Psych0fred, the great developer of SWBF that created the mapping tools and helps us everyday.
I also have to thank CGArtist. He created a custom sky for me. It is beautiful. Thanks for creating such a sky!! I love it!!
Oh, yeah, I used Saturn_V_SWBF's explosive barrels too.
Thanks, you guys!!

Here are the stories behind the map:

CW Era Story- At the same time as the Clone Wars in Naboo: Encounter, Naboo has another battle, on the coast of Kaadara.
The CIS is not using Trade Federation Droidekas, as they cannot withstand water easily.
But, the CIS has introduced a new unit, the IBC IG-Series Assassin Droid.
The Galactic Republic has Republic Clone Commandos there to help against them (skinned by DooFi, main three weapons made by Qdin).

Post-GCW Era Story- Naboo has another battle, at the same site as it was during the Clone Wars, on the coast of Kaadara.
The New Republic has introduced a new unit, the N.R. Jedi Knight Commando.
The Galactic Empire Remnant, being cruel, has unleashed their most intimidating unit in history, the Imperial Dark Jedi Master.
This unit's face has been cracked due to exposure of doing dark deeds.

Well, here we have Rhen Var- Chaos.
This map uses the same map as the shipped Rhen Var: Harbor map, but the units, weapons, and vehicles have all been changed, corrected, and named correctly.
I also added another AT-TE, two MTTs, two STAPs, and one more AAT.
There are no hero units.
I found it addicting and played many times.

This map can only be played in the Clone Wars Era.

Clone Wars Era Story- A battle erupts on Rhen Var during the middle-end of the Clone Wars.
The Republic Galactic Marines (and Republic Clone Commandos) are there to defeat the CIS, who have new camoflauged droids.
Each army brings quite a bit of soldiers and vehicles, so be careful on the battlefront!

DooFi skinned just about every unit.

Description:

Well, here we have (Saga Battles) Endor: Struggle
This map uses the same map as the shipped Endor map, but the units, weapons, and vehicles have all been changed, corrected, and named correctly.
Ewoks use vehiles too now!
And, Chewbacca is the hero for the Rebel Alliance.
I found it addicting and played at least five times.

This map can only be played in the Galactic Civil War Era.

Clone Wars Era Story- The Rebel Alliance has learned that the Death Star II will be vulnerable to attack once its shield is destroyed on the forest moon of Endor.
They will try to destroy the bunker, which will destroy the shield and enable the Rebel Alliance to destroy that beastly superweapon.
The Galactic Empire doesn't like the Rebel Alliance's agenda though. They will try to protect the bunker.
Ewoks are on this map too, helping the Rebel Alliance defeat the Galactic Empire.
You must join a side and complete the objectives.

Steve K14 made this map be possible. Without him, this map may have never been released.
DooFi skinned oneof the new Imperial units too.
