Title: Any songs/bands/artists?
Post by: Darth Verik on July 22, 2013, 02:26:23 PM
Heyyy yo you!

Im searching for a magical name of a band or artist or a horribly good song that i want to have in my music library!
Are you that person who knows one of those! If you are, then just post a horribly good artist, band or song right under here \/ (...or you can also write a top 10 of any of those if that will help you ;) )

Alrighty then, it's always a worthy challenge to find someone you haven't heard of.

Some Bands I may have not mentioned before:

.Caravan Palace (Electro Swing!)
.The Jam
.Ananda Shankar
.Generation X
.Trellis
.Supertramp

Bonus Song!
.White Rabbit Cover by Emiliana Torrini

Also I recently bought "The White Album" by the Beatles, despite the historical baggage it carries, it undeniably has some of the groups most excellent tunes.

I'l throw some bands/artists in here, though I'm not sure if you're looking for a bad song, or a good song. Your title has me confused.

Skillet

Matthew West
MIKESCHAIR
Tenth Avenue North
Mandisa
Francesca Battistelli

What more can I say, I'm a Christian music fan at heart. These are just a taste of what bands and singers I know of from the Christian genre. :P

Yeppersh! :P I personally don't listen to rap music much, though I heard him at a concert last year. Has some pretty good stuff, and he's worked with several other big Christian singers, like TobyMac and Chris Tomlin.

I'm not into Christian music but I like his songs. They differ from the usual hip/hop songs. (drugs, female dogs etc.)

You must not be listening to good music.
Fun fact: In Jay-Z's 99 Problem's, in no stanza is he referencing a woman (in one, he is legitimately referencing a female [police] dog).

A few rock bands/songs I like;
Queen - Princes of the universe (one of their lesser known ones)
Meatloaf - Bat out of hell
The Kaiserchiefs - Ruby
I also like most other songs by those 3 plus loads of band/singers that have already been mentioned here.

A bloody good song, paired along side the excellent Highlander film (now plagued with terrible sequels and reboot attempts).

Er... songs.

Group - Song

Primal Scream - Loaded
Happy Mondays - Step On
808 State - Cubik
Prodigy - Everybody in the Place
The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds
Inner City - Good Life
Sisters of Mercy - This Corrosion

10,000 songs? Wow.
The Heavy (Short Change Hero--Borderlands 2 intro song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtGzmxa3CH4)
Primus (My Name is Mud: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=953PkxFNiko)
I'll assume you've got some Sublime... what about 311 (Don't Tread on Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KbR0jg48YI)
I'll also assume you've got Cake.
Incubus?
Death Cab for Cutie?
Chevelle?
Smile Empty Soul?
Finger Eleven?
Raconteurs?
Story of the Year?
Powerman 5000?
Rammstein?  If you like Rammstein, try Eisbrecher or Megaherz.
Local H's Bound for the Floor, if you like grunge, better be one of the 10,000.
The Presidents of the United States's Peaches better be one of the 10,000.
Adema's The Way You Like It is also a solid song.
Billy Talent's Red Flag is a good song, too.
That reminds me of, [something] Danger's Flagpole Sitta, which better be one of the 10,000.
It also reminded me of The Vines's Get Free.  Also better be one of the 10,000.

Although respectively a metalcore and post-hardcore band, I think Dead by April and A Day To Remember have some songs that you might like.

Dead by April (whose eponymous album is, in my opinion, the best ever made):
Last Goodbye: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGDCLalJG70
Found Myself in You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d287n-HSQ6k
Carry Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFKRT3YR8ZM

A Day to Remember:
You Had Me at Hello: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye0XhDdbFs4
Have Faith in Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exivUUeTrB0
You Should Have Killed Me When You Had the Chance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiZZ1kuKciw

Both bands have songs where clean vocals dominate and were scream vocals dominate; however, if you're feeling adventurous and want an excellent mix of clean and heavy vocals, I suggest We Came As Romans's To Move on is to Grow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUDOxunUxuo).

808 State - Cubik
The most incredible choice in here by miles.

Have you heard any Aphex Twin? His early stuff was really influenced by 808 State's "Newbuild" album.

A Guy called Gerald is from 808 State and he's also really good, you should listen to Black Secret Technology, it's amazing

Yes, I have heard some Aphex Twin, I can definitely hear that 808 vibe flowing though it... Oh that sounded pretentious.
I'll check out your suggestions... it's always good to blast some new sounds.
