SWBF1 Modding / Re: Localizing Map Names
January 06, 2012, 02:55:33 AM
For fun, can you make them all "a" era for now, and try it?  (Maybe post a screen shot?)

The benefits of using standard eras may out weigh the reasons I chose the x designation.

Thanks!

SWBF1 Modding / Localizing Map Names
January 05, 2012, 06:16:24 PM
Hi Sleepkiller,

Thanks for looking into this.  Here are my beta test mission files and map names.  Sorry in advance if I spelled things wrong :P

I used the extension x in my map lua file names.

For example my first lua is called L0001x.

I did this for three reasons:
-cross era mods would not make sense to be A or C
-I plan the initial update plus two more updates, so I would have x, y, z as the last characters
-I had hoped we could have the x, y, or z interpreted as
x:  get your 1.0 update at SWBFgamers.com
y:  get your 1.1 update at SWBFgamers.com
z:  get your 1.2 update at SWBFgamers.com

:)

Thanks

oh, sure you can host.  You will need the dedicated server software, and need to use batch files to start it (anyone care to program a GUI for me ?  :) )

The update must reside inside of LVL_PC just like for players.  The could play common maps, but they would crash for other maps.  It all comes down to what is in mission.lvl.

I can explain all of that.  (here is the link about batch files, etc:
http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=1375.0 )

And really what you need is the for the server and players to all have the mission file and the other files in the right spot.

I bet you could host this on PS2 also.

Just let me know if you need any help.

heh   ;)

You can use a controller for PC, but we run with aim assist turned off.

I will keep an eye out for ya :)
#5495
ah, cool, i didn't know you were on PC servers.  Let us know your playing name :)

Hi GDH92,

Everything looks right.  At this point in time, the maps wont show up in single player.  I think Sleepkiller can help us take care of that part.

Even though it says you are missing the map, you should be able to join those servers.  Give it a whirl!

Hi Evie,

Welcome to SWBFgamers.com.

Do you play on PC or a MAC ?

What are you and your husbands playing names?

Let us know if we can help with anything :)

If anyone has successfully installed the update, please let me know what version of SWBF you are using:

original CD version
Best of PC version
Fan Favorites I
DVD version
------------------------------

A couple people are not getting the update to work, and I am trying to figure out if there is a difference among the versions.

I can confirm that CD version + XP works, and DVD version + Win7 works.

hi, welcome to SWBFgamers.com

Thanks.  If you mission file is completely gone, it will crash.  In the place of your old mission file should be the new one dated 1/3/2012.\

If you are still having problems, place the stock mission file from this directory:
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\Data\_LVL_PC\Copy of SWBFgamersUpdate1.0\002-Backup of original mission.lvl file\

into the spot where the mission file goes, which is
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\Data\_LVL_PC\

Can you tell us what your operating system is?  XP or win 7, etc.

Also, can you find your mission file that was installed and tell us the date on the file?

Lastly, do you know what version of SWBF that you use?
CD version (oldest)
BestofPC version
DVD version

thanks

Released Maps and Mods / Re: DAGOBAH: SWAMPS

You will not find too many SWBF2 fans here :)

And to Unit 33, it is possible to do player side modifications of the lighting schemes, for example, taking away the dark clouds and rain in kamino (for SWBF).  Let me know if you want to try this :)

Hi Dbiz,

Thanks for the bug reports.  I noticed those things too, and I know the jumping issue is fixable.  I can look into the victory timer issue.

When the full release comes out, there will be many many more options than in the beta release.  The popularity of the beta release lets me know if this is worth continuing (I think it is) and what issues there are before we make it a full release.

Please note that if you have this beta release, the full release will not be anywhere as big of a download :)

   Oah, interesting!
Juste a question:
- Can we still play online with this update?

Yes.  It will not affect any on-line or single player games.!
