Note: I'm not done with the beta, I just went to make this post ahead of time.
This is a port of Steam for all the Mac users on this forum. It is a fully working version of Steam, along with their games and tools. This is excellent for the people who don't want to buy Crossover.
It doesn't require Windows, Crossover, VMware, etc. It works just like an normal application, because it is :D
I WILL NOT provide you ANY GAMES. This is Steam and STEAM ONLY. If you want to play the games, you'll have to download them through Steam like the rest of us.

The port supports a large number of games. Due to my financial situation, I cannot buy every single Steam game and test it out myself.
How are you doing this?
You may want to read the Steam Subscriber agreement and determine whether your modifications are breaking it. If they are, you can't post it on here nor do anything related to it on here.

Khyler's been doing the beta testing for me. I can't release it until I am certain that I am not violating Steam's License Agreement. Valve hasn't responded to my email so we all will be playing the waiting game until it's ready.

Interesting. Is this just Source, or really every part of Steam?

I'm going to talk this over with JK one more time. I have it polished (The correct fonts this time and drastically improved the performance in the games) and uploaded.
It is ready for download through an external source so don't bug JK or HC about it. Only I have the download link.
Nothing has been violated with the exception of one indirect sentence in the Steam EULA. This is why I am contacting Valve so that I am certain that it is legal to distribute it.

Anyway, if the port of steam allows you to use the games on steam without crossover, then steam should pay you. Try and get a job there ;o

How did you get around the use of Internet Explorer Core for the Community and Store sections of steam? Did you make it use Safari to access the web based content? I know Steam uses the IE Core because it comes standard on all windows installs so its a consistent web handler to use for an app like steam, so Safari for OSX makes sense.
Originally I had it to use your default browser (not everyone likes Safari) although that was really buggy. You couldn't scroll down the page and when Khyler tried to download the Half Life 2 Demo, it would act like a normal web browser and attempt to access the page through the IE Core (which isn't there, so it just loops the same page over and over).
Now it uses Wine's (http://www.winehq.org/) Internet Explorer. It's still not perfect but it gets the basic operation done in Steam (buy games, download demos & source mods, etc).
