Valve Mic issues

my mic is not working on valve games on both my Mac and Boot Camp partitions. It isnt a hardware issue because my mic works in cod2 and 4. I have mic ability turned on in the settings of tf2 and L4D2 however no sound is registered. also, in the windows control panel for audio recognition windows does recognize my mic and registers sound. How do i get Voice to work in tf2 and L4d2?

I'll start off by asking...you're aware it's push-to-talk right?

It takes some fussing. Make sure you set your mic as your primary sound/recording device.

It appears I'm also having mic issues, however it does appear to be fine when I'm in windows
