Battlefront SWBFSpy stopped working

Hello

today i played Star Wars battlefront, the new one from EA.
First i thought: Wow nice Grafics!!
then i thought: WOW nice sound!
and after that i just thought: WOOWWW!! how can a game with so nice Grafic/Sound have so CRAPPY gameplay?

so i decided to get back to my good ols beloved battlefront 1 (the real one from 2004)
i googled a bit and thought: WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW some aweasome guys have made a new masterserver!

but somehow its not working for BF1 if i try to start SWBF1 i get a black screen for short and than a "Battlefront SWBFSpy stopped working".....

i tryed it with adminmode, with winXp compatibility mode,
with the game in 1.0 version and with the game in 1.2 version, nothing works...

the vanilla game is working.

Can someone help me?


i am using win7 64bit and a german Battlefront 1 orginal retail CD

Hear me out, I'm only asking this question because the information was left out from your post, but you have installed the requirements to play on the new master server, correct? The new .EXE that replaces the old one?
You probably have, but I just wanted to make sure we are on that page. The new master server doesn't automatically carry over to all base-games.
It was a silly question, but this info is useful...

Have you tried right clicking on the desktop shortcut and launching the game directly. There should be 2 launchers - the original and the new one.

Just to make sure, you ran the patched exe from the same location as the normal exe?

C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\Battlefront.exe

Just tossing my two cents here, did you rename the exe to Battlefront? Because I find it odd your message says "Battlefront SWBFSpy stopped working". If not, rename the original exe to "Battlefront_orig.exe" or something similar, and rename the SWBFSpy one to Battlefront.exe.

If im not wrong I did name the new exe Battlefront - SWBFSpy because the old masterserver is not down yet and some people might not want to overwrite it...

renaming the Battlefront SWBFSPY.exe to Battlefront.exe doesnt make a difference...

and yes of cause the "battlefront SWBFSPY.exe" is in the same directory with the orginal exe

Use the auto installer  http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1388

if you are using windows vista or later.  (this is for SWBF1)

this installer doesnt work since my Battlefront is on the D Partition (like all other games, it feels messy for me to have windows and all the games on the same partiton)

what else does this installer do apart from moving the exe to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData" ?

Just a thought. If you downloaded the exe, did you extract /unzip it? If it is compressed.

I haven't updated my game yet and I'm on the same system as you so I'll give it a go later.

..... i guess i put to much "wow's" in the first post so it maybe seamed retareded but well i am not stupid, atleast not that stupid...

the exe is were it belongs, the game itselfe works and of cause i am not using an archiv to start a game

No offence meant. A lot of people come from consoles and have no experience of this sort of thing and it's easy to miss something obvious anyway.
