Tech Support / Re: ATI Radeon 3200 Graphics Card
December 21, 2013, 08:33:10 PM
They can. If the drivers have actually been updated.

It's completely possible that they are packaging the same (old) drivers into an updated reference driver package. (they seemed to be happy to announce they were combining all their old driver downloads into that one package.)

You will have to check the date and versions on the drivers page in device manager to be sure.
If that is the case then it will be the same song and dance.

I haven't kept tabs on AMD since their K6-2 days, so I don't know what their reputation for updating drivers is.
I hope it's good.

Best place I found was the AMD site (link)
They list the Mobility Radeon HD 3xxx Series, but not the 3200 explicitly.
The download I looked at said it was updated around October. That was for Win7 32-bit. Don't know what OS you are looking at though.

By "list" I mean you have to select the appropriate settings in their form.
I wish sites didn't do stuff like that.

Requests / Re: Wampa Files
December 19, 2013, 03:33:23 PM
I did a thing a few months ago where I traced all the prerequisites for the SWBF and SWBF2 ODF files (All the silly parent-child and common requirements, all the referenced tgas, all the .option required bump files, all the .options.. even the common stuff) and grouped them all together.

It made a stupidly large collection of folders, but now when I need a particular one, it's easy to find.
Haven't tested it all for accuracy because thousands and thousands of files ( >147k) ....

Anyway, here is Mr wampa:

Not sure a proper flight sim would sell these days.
An arcade game with thrust and fire buttons will though.
It's like our games are devolving into late 70's arcade games.

-Withholding Judgment till I try it-

If it has:
In depth controls and flight-sim like action = good
Pre-programmed barrel rolls and 2 button interface = lame beyond compare

There is a timer on the page linked in the first post that shows how long is left in the giveaway.
(It said 19 hours when I checked just now.)

If you go through the checkout with them before the timer dies, then you can download then when ever you want through your "My Games" section on your account page.

If you don't "buy" them before the timer runs out (free but you have to go through their checkout), then they will return to full price.

You can download any of your games any time you want or need to after purchase.

Thats cool, what rating are they? (As in, [E] For Everyone, yadayadayada)

Fallout = M for Animated Blood and Gore
Fallout 2 = M for Animated Blood and Gore, Strong Language
Fallout Tactics = M for Blood and Gore, Strong Language

They are such fundamental game titles, I didn't even think about the rating.
Those are links to the ESRB ratings site, btw.

Good Old Games (gog.com) is giving away Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics as part of their Winter sale.

There is a little over a day left as the offer ends Saturday, December 14, at 1:59PM GMT.

If you didn't get Fallout during the last giveaway, here is your chance.
(I love that they give games away periodically.)

Thank's! :)

I am not sure, but this models, look's very similar, to released by abdyla, on sketchup.google.com. There is a realy huge assets collection, named 3dwarehouse.
Unfortunately, most of them, released in SketchUp (.skp) format, which can't be recognized by XSI :(.

You will also find several Gametoaster's models in his collection... They have a thread complaining about how he just posted them without asking them. Kinda like he stole them and didn't give credit to the original authors.

It helps to imagine the gorillas from Battle for the Planet of the Apes, sitting around their campfire plotting against Ceaser and grunting:
"Guns mean power. Need Guns. We have Power."

Can someone dumb this all down to where a 5yr old with down syndrome can understand

That's kinda the point of it all though.
There is a lot of general programming/reverse engineering knowledge needed to get this thing up and going.
No one has even gotten down and dirty with hard facts or code, so the descriptions above are the layman's terms. To dumb it down further would be to just grunt keywords. "Code not work. Code use unknowns. Need unknowns, make code work."

No shame in getting familiar with SQL. Database managers will always be needed anywhere humans are using computers. Be warned, it's a bit of a beast and at the points where it isn't boring, it's explicitly boring. I avoid it, but I'm also lazy like that.
Boring story... I was once commissioned to make a membership database for a local art gallery. Being a not for profit, I felt there would be some inexpensive but ready made solution... well I found a 'cheap' one for $10,000... Ok... SQL then, I can get that for free... Way over my head. Oh my god, it was embarrassing how out of my depth I was. So I started a small MS Access DB for them. It had half of the functionality of the mailing system their secretary hacked together using an old IBM word processor. I don't know what they ended up with. They couldn't have stuck with my little tool... it was awful. I went back to fixing spreadsheets for plant managers through a temp agency.
There are may different distributions of SQL and I believe Visual Studio comes with a Microsoft SQL Server that is version matched for VS.  SK might know more about what flavor of SQL OpenSpy requires. I'm sure there is a lot of context similarity across the different brands, but if it has a preference, then you will need to mind it.
