I started SWBF a few minutes ago and could not log into gamespy or see any servers online. If I had to guess its because gamespy is either down altogether or SWBF Servers have been shut down by gamespy. Any thoughts?
2nd post saying this : Gamespy is down... So u cant log into ur account neither see the servers (in swbf1 only as I know)
Ok thats what I figured. Any idea how long they'll be down? Has this ever happened before?
It has been already been down for some hours / mins. So I think nobody knows how long it will take
I was last on at 1:15 so about 3 and a half hours
http://status.poweredbygamespy.com - it wasn't a planned outage so likely they didn't choose to shut down the SWBF service. as i understand Glu now owns the gamespy servers so who knows how long it'll take to fix.
NOOOO D: D: D:,, OUR LIVES ARE OVER!!!.
Eh well, direct connection works (ITHINK)...
Yeah, thats what happens when you let a
like Disney take over something.
my life is over :bye: , you guys were fun to play with ;)
I don't think Disney has anything to do with the Gamespy servers.
I know the ps2 master servers were really flakey for the longest time as interest in the game waned.
Frankly, I'm surprised Gamespy even continues to keep the machines with old master servers plugged in.
Well at least we still have Single Player :)
Trololololololololololol
Well, in addition to Hardcore's link, here is an IGN forum stickey:
Can't Log-in to Powered by Gamespy games? Read this please. (http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/cant-log-in-to-powered-by-gamespy-games-read-this-please.452589253/)
Later in the thread, the poster is directing folks to contact them on twitter. (really?)
If you are interested in seeing the people incharge of the Gamespy master servers:

And thier Corporate page:
GluMobile (http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=207033&p=irol-IRHome)
A mobile app thingy company. My confidence is not high at this point.
At least swbfgamers saves money
They don't have to host servers anymore.
VLAN contingency plan time
Wow. After setting doing ALL OF THAT with the SWBF PC port this happens!!!!
So... Is it official? Or what...
Is VLAN or DC our next option?
DC,DC,DC,DC... :D
Guys being done for a day doesn't spell the end of the world. Well in this case SWBF. Keep calm and play another game. Give it a bit and see where it is at then.
Also please note V-LAN should be a last resort world ending apocalyptic no other way to play solution. We're much better off sticking to direct connection. V-LAN adds additional latency to a connection, which I would rather not have. Hardly anyone knows how to use V-LAN and although simple really it would be simpler to use direct connections still. A lot more people have already done a direct connection and know how.
Either way ultimately without the master server SWBF is screwed.
PS. I blame Kit Fisto, this didn't happen before he was playing on PC servers...
It's absolutely not official, unless I missed something there's no reason to believe that this failure is any different from the many other (temporary) ones over the last few years.
Worth noting that RepCom (also gamespy) is working fine
Hope servers came back, I made good friends in this game and I would be horrified if online play ended. Hers an idea, if online is forever gone, buy swbf2 so everyone who is not in swbf gamers can keep in touch!

Lol. I blame SK because he killed the servers sleep and then the servers died from lack of sleep. :XD:
Did SWBFII's servers go down as well?
no
This is. :censored:
This cannot be happening, DCs, this sucks. OMG I hope this gets fixed.
Oh! I thought that every Gamespy game's server went down! :slap: Well guys just wait it out, play SinglePlayer on hard and get your :censored: ss kicked by AI. It's just a matter of time till its back up.
wats dc?
The master server application has probably just crashed and they haven't noticed it yet. I'm sure it will get rebooted soon enough. Keep Calm and Play SWBFII in the meanwhile folks.

Direct Connection
It allows you to enter the IP of the server you want to connect to.
i tryed dc but no one can join mine and i cant join any :slap:ones.
You have to port forward to play DC, it's pretty complicated and you need full acess to your computer.
even to join?
To host them you do. Joining though you don't. Pretty straight forward really if you know your router.
Online play better come back, or this game is worthless to me. Luckily I only bought this game for a dollar at goodwill.
i see but ima noob so....
my friend did the port forward thing and i still cant join...
If swbf online gameplay has ended we need to post to whoever can make the servers come back that we need the servers back, give us the servers!

Well, this for me is the first time this has happened, and star wars galaxies is about as old as this game and they ended its servers.

So it wouldn't compete with Star Wars: the Old Republic. But there would an post somewhere as to the servers going offline if this was support being terminated.
No, star wars galaxies went off december 11, 2011, long after old republic came along I think.
Trust me I read up on this I know what I am talking about. You clearly don't it is Star Wars: Galaxies anyway.
Yes, everyone stay calm, and I will host a DC cloud city server :)
This has not happened in about a year, but this does happen. Don't get too worried, it will be back. There are plenty of older games still hosted by gamespy.
Actually i never played it, i bought it recently at goodwill. i went to lucas arts.com looked at other games saw a post on the end of galaxies and someone said the server where gone, but also I bought glaxies to sell since it was selling for 30.00 on Ebay.
Same thing happens with the ps2 version.
When it goes down, everyone assumes it's dead, then a while later, they are back up.

No Biggee Led, Thanks for your efforts. With any amount of good fortune this will have all passed within the next 24 hours.
i pray that tomorrow this BS will have passed on so we can continue on with our SWBF careers. (was gonna train with my 212 buddys :/)
according to this sites homepage the servers are online :s wouldnt they be offline?
The PLA servers are running, its just that no one can connect to them, since we all go through gamespy to set up servers.

I thought not, so re-support SWBF PC servers. NOW.

http://www.gametracker.com/search/swbf2/ (http://www.gametracker.com/search/swbf2/)
This Shows that BF1 on average ranks higher than BF2 on a PS2. 5 and 10 are the ps2 servers. 6, 9, & 7 are are the BF1 servers. they both are/were GameSpy supported. it looks like people are able to join the other servers.
Why they puled the plug on this game (if so being the case) is beyond me. :slap:
This is probably just a glitch in the system.
However, thanks to Phobos, we can play tonight using Tunngle.
Start downloading it now :)
Look for instructions soon.

Darn I missed something exciting again didn't I?
Kit Fisto: SWBF has a small, unnoticed community compared to other games out there so don't get ahead of yourself. I highly doubt we're number 1 i gamespy's servers. Not only that but gamespy became so downsized and almost insignificant to the gaming industry as a whole that it was sold to a mobile gaming company that doesn't even mention gamespy anywhere in their website or forum.
I'm assuming it's just down temporarily but if it remains to be down indefinitely, I wouldn't be surprised. Not many people would've thought there we be a MP community for a game that hasn't been supported by its developer/publisher for over 8 years. Even our current-gen consoles and its PC counterparts have games where the MP servers turned offline, having SWBF's serverlist up for this long is a blessing.
-------------
But of course I would hope for the gamespy servers to continue to be online. Hopefully glu can turn on the servers again.

A couple of years ago, they were down for most of a week. Relax. In the mean time, download Tunngle :)
thanks Led and Phobos! Tunngle seems to work great in a pinch. No noobs on to own though lol
Could the servers being down have anything to do with hurricane Sandy? Idk if there are any important hosting buildings that have been damaged by Sandy or its after math. Or it could be Obama's revenge... new i shoulda voted Democrat.
Noo!

The only game i know that doesnt have servers is swbf1 =/
Well I guess I'll spend my time trying to make my next video. Hopefully I have enough clips. Or maybe I'll just make a trailer first... :censored:

make sure all battlefront and tunngle is checked for public and private
go into services.msc

Make sure you have administrator rights on your computer.
Online play better come back, at least I have a couple awesome games besides swbf.
Who are you threatening Josh? lol
Well, I guess im threatening whoever is responsible for stoping online play. By the way, does anyone have nascar racing 2003 season? Im wondering how people get online since sierra has gone the way of the dodo bird.
I have the same code as mart anyone know how to fix it.I am useing the admin acount (we only have an admin acount)_ and i get the same 103 blah blah blah.HELP ME PLZ SOMEBODY ANYBODY.
A few things to ensure you did when you installed Tunngle.
Step For Windows Vista/7 Users: You right clicked on it and clicked Run as Administrator.
You rebooted straight away after installing Tunngle.
Your computers firewall isn't blocking Tunngle, it will probably automatically add an exception to Windows firewall.
If you are using a custom one you should be smart enough to work out how to add an exception for it.
It may be that you need to forward Tunngle's ports. Perhaps this link can help you http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Tunngle/default.htm (http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Tunngle/default.htm).
So, do we know why online play is gone yet?
When harry called them all they said was they were aware of the problem and were trying to fix it. That could be good or bad news. nothing about why it was down
