Welcome Center / Re: I'm Back! (Again)
July 27, 2013, 04:55:35 PM
Absolutely! It's good to see some of us old fellas around! With the prospect of a new game on the horizon I figured now is as good a time as any to get back here!

That and assuming I can locate my copy or a copy of Snow Leopard, I should hopefully be able to play occasionally too!

Welcome Center / I'm Back! (Again)
July 27, 2013, 04:20:17 PM
Hey everyone! It's been awhile, but I'm back and should be able to stay more active now that grad school is over and I'm settled into the new job and new city!

Looks like the ping at my apartment is too low over WiFi. I will look into the possibilities of getting my switch up and running over the next couple weeks so that I can get the Mac Pro wired internet.

What time are you thinking today, or did it already pass?

Count me in occasionally. What time are you looking at doing this? I'm in Grad School now, but I can try to set aside a little bit of time from writing papers and hitting the bars.

As far as people who have issues with the new OS, if you create a small partition (20 GB) in Disk Utility, you can install 10.6 there, and you are still able to run Battlefront that way. That's what I've done and it works great. The only problem is having to reboot and boot from that second partition.

Other Games / Re: EV Nova Anyone?

I agree that over time the "text based" nature didn't stand up well, but considering that the original engine for the EV series was built from scratch by some Computer Science majors as a side project in college, I am willing to deal with it. The only problem I have now is that you can still pay for it, but it STILL costs $30! Not a great buy any more so I've been passing around my product key.

I don't remember Naboo Plains being that much of a problem, but that was never one of my favorite maps so I don't remember playing it much outside of Conquest or Campaign modes. I do remember that the Kashyyyk Islands (?) map was also horrible because of the hills, trees and textures.

I would be curious how Endor fares on my 2010 Mac Pro but until I move to my apartment for Grad School, I won't have the disc with me.

One of the other reasons I loved Hoth was that if you timed a rocket just right, you could get a one hit kill on the Snow Speeders when playing as Imperial Shock Trooper.

It was extremely rare, but I always loved finding that small window of glitch that would allow the rocket to travel straight through the speeder's cockpit before detonating and watching the speeder explode.

Other Games / EV Nova Anyone?
July 16, 2012, 08:18:35 AM
Just re-installed my copy of EV Nova since Ambrosia Software apprently released an update to make it Lion compatible XD.

I was wondering if anyone else ever played the game or any others in the EV series.

I prefer Hoth. I've always just liked how much there is to do on that map. Since the overall idea is giant battles, I think Hoth and Geonosis captured that idea best. I could be a little biased though, as I used to play on my old Mac Mini, and Endor was always glitching because of all the rendering for the trees and such.

General / Re: Your desktop.

It actually isn't that big of a mess. I just prefer to not have the icons and files on my desktop because the "quick view" preview that loads as the face of the icon gets stored to RAM and I see it as a waste for 99% of what I'm doing....

Here is mine. I try to keep it as clean as possible. This weekend was nice and relaxing so the desktop is a little cleaner than it might have been on Friday.

Also, I love the Abstergo themed desktop Jamman!

{ACW} was my original clan back in 2006 (I think?) it then merged with its rival IGC to form IAS. As far as the oldest and still active clans you will have to ask others because I have been in retirement for the last couple years.
