Other Games / Re: 2015 steam summer sale
June 19, 2015, 10:59:53 AM
I look at the highest selling list on steam, bundlestars, GOG, GMG, HumbleBundle, etc when they are sale.  If I see something I want but it's not on sale, I got to cheapshark to see what it might sell for on sale and set up a text message alert for when it hits my price goal.

Most popular in my house right now (besides SWBF) are Just Cause 2 Multiplayer, Goatsimulator, Portal2, Guns of Icarus, Lego Marvel Super Heros, Kerbal Space Program, and of course, GMOD.

Well, someone (can't remember who) said they played in on tunngle (I haven't gotten that to work but I didn't try very hard).  I would love to get to the point where I understand what might be wrong but I am not quite at that point where I have the freedom to learn it yet.      :(

Old timers?    :(  ???

I'm thinking if you look around a while you'll be able to find a Win98 machine for free.  I have an eMachine's one (I got for free) with the original stickers on the front that says "Never Obsolete"   :tu:

Oh, and I've never seen one of these with a CD.

Hey, thanks all for your patience; I hear there is a multiplayer port for this incredible map but can't seem to find it!  Does anyone know if it is available, and if so, is there somewhere we can download it?

Welcome to the site!  There are many helpful and enthusiastic people here.  It is a great community!

Syyy "C'est vrai que swbf2 a un gameplay plus nerveux et diversifié que le premier jeu"

I like France very much but my French is not good; however, I do find swbf2 nerveux

We are all looking forward to SWBF3 later this year!

UUUHG!  I HATE HATE HATE Origin and their malfunctioning DRM's! They are terrible!  I want nothing to do with them ever again!  If you are in doubt check thousands of chat boards with fed up people refusing to play Origin's games after buying games they are not able to play.  I am one of them of course.

But I love SWBF!  What to do???

Welcome RAJE!  This is a great community.  I've got a little less playtime than you (9 yrs next month) but it's been quite a time!  You figure out the gameshare setup ok?  If not many of us are happy to help.

There were a lot of ideas presented in this thread but I think I get the direction this is going now.

Is the name set in stone or might there be a vote?  I also liked the BFO idea.  Or the BF Originals Syndicate ~BFOS~?  Or the Epic Battlefront Originals of History Syndicate [EBFOHS]?  Or the Mature Organization of Frontian Originals Syndicate <MOFOS>?

Syndicate itself is not bad, really just wondering if it's dried yet.

Majesty, you invited me to join the private event by xfire a few days ago, but then told me it is PFA only.  Perhaps you meant the public event?

The case is decent.  I watch tigerdirect / newegg for cases on sale with rebate.  Got some awesome cases for very little, between $20 and $50.  They seem similar to that one, but don't know that one personally.  I would wait for a sale on a cool case.

I think your PSU is a little light yet expensive.  I just got an Ultra X4 850W on tigerdirect with rebate for around $70.  I watch for the deals and get them to keep them in the garage until the next builds.  My home machine is and X4 1050W that I paid just over $110 for.    No probs so far.

I like that CPU.  I have the 6350 and it is awesome.  Handles everything easily. That one is even better.  I'm getting the 9'series soon, I hope.

Don't know that video card but it looks better than mine and mine handles everything I throw at it  (GEFORCE 650TI boost overclocked)

decent price on memory and you can get more later.  good!

I have the same motherboard and I LOVE IT!     I paid slightly more than that a year ago.  I can't recommend it more!

as far as the SSD's go, I have one but I don't use it.  My WD Blue drive does fine. What keeps me from delaying is that you need to reconfigure windows to use  the magnetic drive for all the frequent changes and only read from the SSD  or the SSD will die prematurely with too many writes.   That takes time.    I dont disagree with the SSD, just don't think it is necessary to get what you are looking for but if you have the time to set it up correctly, go for it!

check the room on that cooler, it is good but it is big and doesn't fit all cases.  I use a stock cooler but I have to keep it clean.  im getting the same one for my next build

Great job!   A few of us stayed up late trying it out.  It seemed smooth most of the time for me, with occasional bits of lag-type of experience.  I think Kiwi had a bit more trouble though.  The specs are awesome for that $, though we came away with the feeling that it was more lag than we hoped for.  Perception can be unreliable of course.  Any utilization specs?  I think our windows server is consistently using more ram than that.

Star Wars Battlefront (2004 Original) / Re: Question??

I don't know, I had a hard time getting the gamemaster patch to work consistently.  No idea why.  I keep my hosts file ready for the next time it fails.

I think LED's commitment to not support piracy is admirable.  Is combining update with patch much different, piracy-wise, than sharing the modded exe?  Personally, I feel they are about the same.  And I feel that if whatever has been figured out is put into an easier package, I think it encourages more people to play.  I think only 1 of my kids has the ability and patience to figure out how to make it work by himself; the others would get distracted before they figure it out.

That said, I don't have a lot of free time to create things like that these days, and if I do, I want to spend it playing   ::)

Seems odd that both servers are not responding; I guess the NY one is dependent on the other?

EDIT: sounds like everything is dependent on the German server which may affected by an attack.

Ultimo,

I share our friend Royal's desire, but I wish to encourage you to stick to your self-improvement convictions!  SWBF will always be there later, in one form or another, but your opportunities for your ambitions and goals may not.  You get bored not because there is nothing to do, but because you don't have the high and constant companionship of BF, am I right?  Always on your mind, in the shower, while you dream, while you are eating lunch, when you are with family, you anticipate the time you can get back to BF.  Just a guess... I could be off base.

SWBF multi-player didn't come to me until long after I finished college.  I had a few kids but only a few.  I was still young and I had playing binges on the PS2.  I didn't always play, but when I did, I couldn't stop until I was exhausted.  I would go to work with 3 or 4 hours sleep, and not an easy job either, but one that you have to bring your A game to almost every day.    Eventually, after a 7-hour late night game-athon,  one of my eye's muscles gave out.  Can't do computer all day and BF all night!  I lost the ability to focus in one eye for about a week.  Later, I had another kid that was in the hospital for 3 months and took up all freetime, and once he got home, gamespy had gone away.  And I got better at work and got a normal amount of sleep and found other interests, and took care of kids a lot.

Now it is back, and it's difficult to balance, but I have to.  But find a balance with continuing education, taking care of family, successful at work, and finally some me / kids time with BF when I can, and when it is appropriate.  So, in that regard, I hope I don't see you on the battlefield any time soon.   Just someday.    {Alpha}Pvt.DM

Hey mandomaniac, glad you found the site.  I've found the folks here very friendly, or if not, at least very helpful.   Feel free to PM with any questions if you have trouble getting setup to see the new master server (if you haven't already).  I just had to learn it all recently and it took me a few tries for some reason.

Now, back to the fight!!!
