Other Games / Minerwars

New game I found the other day while searching around for something new.  The game is a space mining based.  The preview on their front page explains it a whole lot better.  It is currently in closed beta but you can get into it.  Theres a link on their homepage for that.  Once this goes public, it could be the mmo everyone has been looking for.

Anyone play?  For those of you who dont, its a game where you build stuff with legos (they dont have lego logo on the studs, which in this are square, due to coprright reasons but you get the idea).  The games includes things such as events (a sort of very basic programing), weapons, prints for bricks, vehicles, and all kinds of user created content which can be found on their forum.  The game can be played in single player or in multiplayer.   Many of servers have different themes like city build, death matches, dogfights, and of course freebuild.  There is a demo which limits you to 150 bricks or you can buy a key for $20 through the game's website.  The compunity is ok. Lately a lot of 7 to 9 yr olds have been showing up but its not to bad.

Here is a link to the website where you can buy a key,  look at screen shots, and visit the forum.

Tech Support / Re: Network setup

If I could Id run that ethernet cable in a heartbeat but my mom has this thing about exposed wires.  It seems like if you go below the router then the signal just gets owned.  Ive been trying a few things.  Really wish the usb adapter would have just worked.

Tech Support / Network setup

Ive looking around on google and havent found anything that would help. Currently I connect to the internet through a 2wire modem/router w/ wireless.  That sits in a room abover the basesment. My new computer (which is in the basement) isnt compatible with the usb adapter that came with so Ive been using a wireless usb adapter I picked up at Best Buy. It works for browsing the internet but for games like garry's mod it cant hold a stable connection. I was wondering if I could use the old router or modem I used to use to help me get a wired connection working.

Tech Support / Re: New graphics card

XD 400w requirement. Thats a good one.  This one only has a 250w output.  The thing is I just got a new computer so getting another one is out of the question plus there's a bit of sentimental value behind this one.  I knew from the start that I wouldn't be getting a uber powerful card but I was hoping I could find something that would be any bit better and still be compatible.   If I cant upgrade then Ill just get a replacement.

Time to go looking for a new graphics card. My Dell Dimension 4600 needs a new card because the old card leaked crap all over the inside of the case.  If there is anything slightly better than a Nvidia  5200 fx then please let me know.

Specs:
Pentium 4 CPU @ 2.80 GHz
512 MB of ram
Can be pci or agp compatible

Ive found a couple but I need to know if these will be any good.

Tech Support / Starcraft issues
January 16, 2010, 06:45:13 AM
Well, I finally after weeks of waiting and dealing with fedex got my new computer but Im having issues with starcraft. I found a fix for the color issues but it wont run in full screen. It runs in what I think is a 600 by 800 box while the rest of the screen is black.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Well, things didn't work out. My mom found that building the pc would be lot of work and she just didn't want me to have something go wrong considering how much it would cost. She ordered a XPS 9000.  Its got a radeon 4350 vid card which I don't think will be able to get close to what I had picked out.

Thanks for the help everyone.  Now I just have a couple more things to do: figure out what to do about the OS, convince my mom its better than a XPS 9000 on sale at $760.

The computer I'm trying to replace is actually a dell dimension 4600 with a nvidia gefore 5200 video card and a processor clocked at 2.8 ghz.  Its a great model but the thing is it's 2+ years old and not up to running cod 5.
