Title: Goldeneye Wii
Post by: aeria. on November 08, 2010, 04:01:42 PM
Well over the weekend I got myself a copy of Goldeneye Wii and I love it to death. Eurocom made 007 Nightfire which was a great game so I was eager to try their second Bond game.

I played through the Training Mode, the controller scheme is acceptable. Somewhere in the beginning of the first level, my Wii crashed and made this terrible buzzing sound. I was a little bit unhappy about it but hoped it was just a one time thing (cod4wii also crashes on the rare occasion). Playing again I got significantly further into the first level, just taking pictures of a helicopter and it crashed AGAIN.

It appears my copy is crash-prone and I was so eager to play this game. :(

Anyone else managed to get a copy? Is anyone else crashing? I hope I just have some heating issue (I have a bad habit of keeping my Wii idle for several days) and not a faulty copy.

--ag

BTW from what I've played so far, I thought it wasn't too bad. Give it a shot! :D

I almost bought this, but Black Ops Wii distracted me, plus a bunch of my Wii mates are getting it sooooo...

I have it and I don't seem to have this problem and the game is amazing. You might want to think about returning it for a new copy.

My friend suggested me to heat up the Wii motherboard. I thought that was absurd.

But it worked.

Happy face.

Oh wow, I remember playing this game on the old N64.  I have a Wii, just hardly ever use it much.  2nd best game ever (1st to the old Super Smash Brothers), classic games are the best.

And it will stay that way.

Forever and ever.

Gameinformer gave this game a 67 out of 100.
Title: Re: Goldeneye Wii
Post by: Festus on November 23, 2010, 03:29:59 PM
IGN gave this game a 9 out of 10, Game spot gave it a 8.7 out of 10 and Vg chartz gave it a 9 out of 10 as well. Most people that gave it a low score complain about stupid stuff like how it changed the story to fit modern times or how the level designs are different

game informer didnt like the graphics and they felt the guns werent intimate enough.

I know I read the reveiw, and to be honest Game informer hates wii

lol cries of booing comes to my bus whenever i say the word wii.

thats not true festus. gameinformers top 2 games this issue were wii games (donkey kong and kirby). and Epic mickey were really high too.

Anybody cares to put up some screenshots? I'd like to see how the screen looks like when you play, since you always see the pic in some sort of different angle

Well today is my first game online. Got first at 29-13. It was really fun and it's probably the only decent Wii FPS online. I really enjoyed it.

I'll post my friend code eventually (when I found out where to get it).

IGN rated Goldeneye higher than Black Ops. It made my day. XD

But yeah I'm going through the campaign and it is a blast to play. It's an amazingly solid game that just happens to be on the Wii. It's a shame that Eurocom couldn't put it on a next gen console so the framerate wouldn't be so jumpy.

Aside from Festus, anyone else has this game?

I looked up some gameplays and videos on Youtube.  It looks quite amazing, and I'm definitely going to get this.  The campaign seems a lot different then the actual movie, but thats just for every game based off something nowadays.

Anyway, I'll see if I can get a copy and I'll put my friend code up later and see if we can play

I got my copy this morning, and I've played 3 hours straight now :P
Just finished the helicopter mission, then I played a match online.  Its kinda hard, but it reminds me of CoD a lot.

I'll get my friend code up later for you guys 8)

At the moment, I am godlike with the stock SMG class. It's incredibly easy and I've been top place in every game. In fact, I'm having more fun playing Goldeneye over Black Ops. :O

I think I was bragging at bit... but it's true. I've won all 7 games I've played online.
Title: Re: Goldeneye Wii
Post by: Vendetta on November 27, 2010, 01:18:06 PM
Lol, are you using the classic control, camecube controller, or Wii remotes?  I'm using the remotes, so its kinda hard moving from left to right on my screen.  I might try switching to gamecube controllers just for multiplay though.
Title: Re: Goldeneye Wii
Post by: aeria. on November 27, 2010, 03:17:00 PM
Because of how frustrating it is to aim with the Wiimote in past games, the first thing I did when I booted up Goldeneye was find my Gamecube controller and plug it in. I have prior experience with the GC controller for FPS games (my first FPS was another James Bond game made by the SAME developer of Goldeneye Wii) so I've been doing well.

I've been thinking of trying the Classic controller, however I don't have much issues with the GC controller as of right now so I don't think I will be forking out cash anytime soon.

At the moment I use the stock control scheme with slightly increased sensitivity and inverted aim. I used to use Legacy controls back when I played 007 Nightfire (that's the game I just mentioned earlier) but I can't seem to adjust to it after such a large absence of playing it.

Karma just kicked me in the face for bragging about Black Ops.
The damned thing broke my Wii !
My disc drive no longer registers anything I shove in it,
but don't worry I've sent it off to Nintendo.

When it's fixed I'll surely buy the Nintendo-endorsed game Goldeneye just to fix my karma / because it looks awesome

Maybe when it goes on sale is a good time to get a copy of Black Ops. It's surprising how your Wii magically stopped working after playing Black Ops. :(
Title: Re: Goldeneye Wii
Post by: Vendetta on November 27, 2010, 05:41:44 PM
I had one problem with my Wii, and I was soooooooooooooo thankful that it was still under the 60 day warranty right after we bought it.  The Wii was also brand new then, so I was in panic.  I probably have the oldest Wii here, but it still works. :P

The main thing that I like using the remotes more than the GC controller is that I'm able to use the nunchuck and tilt it when I'm behind cover and go slanted around my cover without sending my entire body into open fire.  I love doing it, it makes it so realistic.  You can't do that with the GC controller, so I'll probably use remotes for campaign and GC controller for multiplay.

And I just finished the Saint Peters Park Mission :D
I like to beat the campaign first before I do multiplay.  Makes the game more fun, I think

And if you don't know where to find your friend code, its in your message center, and look around in there.  Its there somewhere, just can't remember it.

Yeah I did notice my opponent tilting his body in MP and I had a question mark going in my head. So that's why... he was using a bloody Wiimote.

I'll get my Friend Code something this week. Maybe all of us Wii owners can join up together if there isn't too much lag. :)

Unfortunately I don't have Wiispeak and I don't know where to find it (or know of any game beside Conduit that supports it).

My Goldeneye Friend Code is: 533289187450

I'll add all friend codes I find in this topic. Hopefully we could get parties going. :)

Eh? Is that your Wii friend code? I don't recall any spaces in mine... or that many numbers.

Your friend code in every game is different from your Wii friend code. It's an utterly annoying system but there's no way around it.

Go to Multiplayer -> Nintendo WFC -> Party Invite

It'll show your Friend Code there. :)

Also I'm thinking of finding a way to split my video so that I can record some of my gameplay.

Regarding Wiispeak, 15 dollars is too much for an accessory that is supported in very little games and honestly they should have added support for USB headsets like the PS3. If the Black Ops Wii headset has support for more games, I will probably get that.

I'm having a hard time getting myself to go online. Getting online on my requires me to disconnect my internet to move the ethernet cable to my Wii and then do a hard reset of my router. I have static IP so I cannot have both my computer and my Wii to be connected at the same time.

I promise I will add you guys tomorrow.

I've been doing all the missions over on the Agent difficulty.  Can't really tell too much of any enemies being harder to kill, just the extra objectives.

Yeah there are just merely extra objectives. It adds a bit more than "pass the imaginary line to continue" but it's nothing like the original Goldeneye.

The hardest difficulty gives you non-regenerating health and requires you to pick up body armor, just like the original Goldeneye. Feel free to give that mode a try if you want something more challenging.
