SWBFGamers

I think it would be fun for members of this site to get together on more than just SWBFI! 2 games I have in mind are Star Wars: Battlefront II, and Star Wars: Republic Commando. It would be fun filled private server that only members of swbfgamers could join. I realize now that members of the SWBFI community are by far the most fun people to play any game online with, and I'm sure others feel the same!

I was originally just going to do 1 game, but I figured, why not do both and put a poll up for which to do first! So, which will it be?

Star Wars: Battlefront II? The sequel to the game we all love, with all the same people we like to hang out with
or
Star Wars: Republic Commando? A First Person Shooter that pits Clone Commando's against Trandoshans! But whats better is that you will be playing with all your friends!

If it is possible I would like to do both games eventually. But this vote is for which game we should try and organize/play first?

I'll come to either if it's in my time zone. They're both fun games. :)

i Say say we do repcom since its a better game, maybe led could host a CTF game next Sunday, maybe a little after 5:00?

I vote SWBFII, since it is my 2nd favorite game of all time. I wonder what the first is?  :D

The first game night will probably happen the 2nd week of April, so that the word can get out and we can organize what maps and modes we will play (for either game)


Led, would you be willing to host a 1 night server for either SWBFII or RC?



And for anyone who doesn't have the gamew, both are available on steam. And if any Mac player wants to join in post and I can try and make a quick tutorial on how to install SWBFII and/or RC. :cheers:

My votes SWBFII. I have the game, and my clan and I are trying to get more active there. It wouldn't hurt to show off some engineer-shotgunning I guess. :P

Hmm, perhaps I should train some more on SWBFII, it's been a while since I've gone shotgunning, and I might be rusty. ;)

I have both and if i'm free would participate.  I choose SWBF2

I'll join if I have internet by then. I vote for RC mainly because the Sniper only game mode is really fun.

I do realize that you guys have differing oppinions and all, but it's pretty obvious that you won't get very far if you do it on SWRC, there are just too many variables (Surely I don't need to explain?).

It would be in everyone's (or at least the people that actually HAVE SWBFII) best interest to do it on BattlefrontII, alot easier to set up, more people use it, better control, less trolls, yada yada yada....

As of this post SWBFII has 83% of the votes, so we will probaby end up doing that game. We can do SWRC another time.

My plan was to have somebody host a server for 1 night. This server would have only stock SWBFII maps and modes. It would be password protected so that only people here could join. That way we could all be together in a new game and not have to worry about a "stranger" joining our game. I wouldn't mind including some SWBFI conversions if anyone is up for it. I know Marvel4 converted all maps to SWBFII with stock sides (I think, I have yet to try them out).

If there's going to be any modmaps, you WILL add Bespin: Cloud City to that list! I'm not sure if the map I have is Marvel4's conversion, but here's the download link if anyone wants it:

Any modmaps, modifications, conversions...etc are also cool with me.

For a first night I would say it's best not to have any mod maps. See how many people turn up first. :)

I think this is a better idea. Once we get a large enough crowd we can start to add mod maps.

So you wouldn't mind hosting a server for us? I think a better day would be Saturday, around the same time Buckler used to have his DC's. That time seemed to work for the most time zones.

So its settled then! We will play SWBFII for our first game night.

Now, onto the maps. What maps would you guys want to do? Please list 3 of your favorite maps. We could just do all of them and set it on random...
What about Capture the Flag? Hunt? Ok here is how I'm going to do this. To "vote" on what maps/modes do it this way.


1) at least 3 conquest maps of your choosing, include eras
2) at least 2 Capture the Flag maps of your choosing, include eras
3) at least 1 Hunt map
4) at least 1 space map (if you don't know what the different kinds are just say CW or GCW. :)



Here is mine so you can compare it:

1) Death Star GCW, Coruscant: CW, Dagobah: GCW
2) Tantive IV: GCW, Yavin IV: CW
3) Hoth
4) Space Felucia (thats a CW space map)



Ok! We will do Hero's and Friendly Fire options after we get the maps down.

 The only SWBF2 maps I really like where the space ones and the geonosis hunt. Well I guess I should dust off my SWBF2 disk and put it in and do some practicing. :D

I will try to learn how to set up a SWBF2 server this coming weekend.  It will be busy until then--

But if you need my map opinion:
Conquest: Death Star CW, Coruscant: GCW, Mygeeto CW.
CaptureTheFlag: Utapau CW, DeathStar GCW.
Hunt: Hoth Echo Base!

You do know you don't even need the disk to play, right?
...\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\BattleFrontII.exe  is the direct location of exe, you don't have to even think about the disk!

Because some peoples computers are so screwed up that they barely work, and half of the games they have installed won't uninstall and their USB ports go insane.  Downloading Tunngle would be like the butterfly that lands on the car balancing precariously over a cliff. I would go with rc, just because I used to play it a lot online and it was waaaay more fun than the swbf2 lagging thing where you can't snipe someone over a distance longer than 40 feet...

i have the swbf2 crash glitch though... were when u launch a game for online or instant action, it will crash and go to desktop..

I think that has something to do with sound? Just google your problem, I think there is a fix. Do you have the 1.1 patch?

Off topic again already. :) Have you tried plugging in headphones? Apparently that fixes it for some people.

ya i spent all monday on google and youtube looking at the reason why it crashes and how to fix it. I havent found anything yet that stops the crash sadly.

I just tried out Marvel4's SWBFI conversions and they are wonderful. From someone who has spent hours playing SWBFI maps I know what is a good conversion and what isn't. The SWBFI conversions in the Conversion pack 2.2 aren't that good. But Marvel4's are great! So if/when we use SWBFI maps we should really use his.

Does anyone else want to put what maps they would want to play?
