So... what do you expect EA's Battlefront to be?
I think, Because EA isn't calling it SWBFIII, they may not include any SWBFI/II maps. :( But, I'm not sure if they are, or are not calling it SWBF3. I think the game will go along the same basic style, like jumping in any vehicle you want. I do not think the game will be much like SWBFI and SWBFII, but i do believe that EA will do a good job with it, just as long as you get all their DLC's... I cannot believe I just said... er... typed, that!

pretty sure they will at least include hoth since it was shown in the teaser
"This is DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be," Söderlund told Eurogamer. "That's the best description you can have. There are absolutely things in the previous Battlefront games that you'll recognise and remember, but DICE wants to put its own flavour on it. That's the only way we can do it. Hence it's called Star Wars: Battlefront, without a 3 at the end. We want to say it's something new.
"But again, it's going to be very Star Wars and very cool."

Yeah, but it won't be the SWBF Hoth.

Yes, I am sure it will be much more graphically pleasing to the eye.
I don't know what the game play will be like, but you can be sure that when they develop this property that it will be true to the movies and will look stunning.
I suspect it means that there will not be a bespin: cloud city as we know it and love it in SWBF.
But you can bet there will be a hoth.
You can assume there will be certain maps in the new game. Hoth, Geonosis, Endor and maybe some Episode III battles.
I'm pretty sure it will be a good game but whether it will be like this battlefront is another matter. I know it's going to be confusing when people say 'have you got Star Wars: Battlefront on the X-box 1?' :)
There's bound to be most of the planets from BF1 and 2 but I expect they'll be completely new maps (hopefully some will be destructible).
I think it's fair to say that the majority of the battles seen on screen will be represented in the game, you know brand awareness and all that.
we will probably have most of the maps in swbf and swbf2, although its very likely that they will be completely different from the swbf version. HOWEVER, most of that will probably be in the form of dlc. ea loves dlc. if you buy all the available dlc plus the game for the sims 3, it will cost you $500. while that is a bit extreme, and not dice, you can still bet there will be lost of dlc.

Yea though I bet it will be similar.

it will have snowspeeders, at-ats, and the shield bunker. probably the trenches too. my guess is the layout will be very different

i sure hope so. the bf1 hoth layout kind of is unappealing. a bigger hoth with a north outpost and tall glaciers with multiple airbase hangers like i had in a dream would be cool.
I think they'll base some maps off of the Clone Wars series.
I have to wonder if the maps will be traditional star wars locations (Hoth, Bespin, Death Star) or if they will be tied into the movies. Regardless, I am really excited about this game. This franchise is in desperate need of a reboot.
Stop dreaming and just wait for how it will turn out *sorry just my opition lol*
When first time i have see Free Radical design of the game i was gonna say that this game will be AMAZING.But since DICE take it.....i am not sure,so i vote for Not Great!
I just hope it's less violent then the likes of CoD.

Agreed. And I hope it's not like CoD in the aspect of "one knife to the backpack to kill, or two sniper shots to the head".
Also, I began to wonder... wouldn't almost be better for the community for SWBF3 NOT to come out? Think about it, all those attempts to make SWBF3, and they all fail. That would mean insane attention to the SWBF series, which needs to happen.

its very likely that yes, we would get more people playing if it doesnt come out, but we would get even more if it does come out.

But then everyone would be addicted to SWBF3, then NOBODY would play SWBF1.
People will at least check out the old games. It happens with every reboot. Just look at the superman reboots. :)
Sadly, I think most of that attention would be directed at the more recent addition to the series, SWBF2. Every so often steam posts sales for the game, and a lot of people return to it, so there's still a lot of nostalgia for it.
Surely there would be a cantina??
Even if people did get battlefront 1 they would need tunngle. And how many would even think that it needs another program to run? A forum on the publishers site would maybe work about tunngle but I doubt that would happen.
I really do hope they impliment third and first person as the abillity to change between the two is a staple of swbf 1 and 2 for me .. but that's just my two cents on the matter.
I think that is a universal feeling.
If there is no 3rd person and/or singleplayer instant action I'm not going to buy it.
Same ... I'm also worried about mod support ... more so then anything else at the moment ... i really hope there is either mod support or some measure of unit customization, yet retain the composer of the first two games ( i don't want to see purple , yellow, green, rainbow etc. Colored stormtroopers running around  ) i mean i want some form of order and not insanity if you know what i mean.
I hope the new swbf3 is like modern warfare but with starwars maps and skins. I like modern warfare, black ops, call of duty games. I like them alot.

If anything, no killstreaks please ... * remembers tactical nuke killstreak from MW2 *

Yes, the Death Star as a kill streak reward might be a bit OP.
Yeah, Orbital Bombardment from ships above I could see being a killstreak, but the Death Star is a bit overkill.
If DICE is going to add killstreaks to this game, here's what I'd like to see:
5 kills: Radar (temporary)
10 kills: Extra Endurance (temporary)
15 kills: Damage Reduction
20 kills: Damage Increase
25 kills: Extra Reinforcement
30 kills: Orbital Bombardment
I know the endurance and damage killstreaks are similar if not exactly from SWBFII, though I think those would deserve to be in it. As for the extra reinforcement, I think that could be used a tad effectively, much like how SWBF did it with the troops in Galactic Conquest (which I've personally played little of).
I could think of other killstreaks, however those would be only usable if EASWBF will have ground-to-space combat.
Killstreaks weren't in the first 2 games. Why should it be in the new one? I thought we didn't want a COD/BF game with a Star Wars skin. :slap:

I still consider the awards a type of killstreak, since you would lose them after you died. Besides, I've never played COD (except for once time at my friends), and I wouldn't mind a little experimenting. As much as I like SWBF and SWBFII as is, I'd be curious to see what DICE might mix into the game, hopefully it's something realistic and balances out as possible inside Star Wars fiction. I'd like to have an Orbital Bombardment award anyday, but I don't want to see anything like a gun that fires a machine gun stream of rockets. (Though it could be achieved through extensive, and account suspended modding.)
I guess that could also change the gaming styles people use. At the moment there is a big range in styles - up close to distance. Some people are very effective at what they do but killstreaks may alter the players that play more offensively to protect the kills which they are amounting to.

So, you're saying that people will play more defensively, right?
What I would like to see, is not kill streaks, but accolades like Halo e.g. double kill, triple kill, killing spree, running riot, sharpshooter (10 hs in one life with sniper) etc.
I wouldn't be surprised with the inclusion of this system.

Maybe not very defensively but they will take a lot more caution, in some cases slowing the pace of the game. But this is sometimes a positive.

SWBFII is a very fast paced game online due to the sprint and "bullet" speeds. (along with the point system for both online and offline play and when you earn a hero it makes you stop in the middle of a battle and start over. But hurry! If you don't get enough kills you will lose the hero!)
All that makes SWBFII a very fast paced game both in single and multiplayer.
SWBFI is slower paced since there is no sprint, no point system and the "bullet" speeds are slowed down. There is no way to "change classes" or earn heroes. I think the pace between the two games makes a huge difference.
This may be a bit off topic but with DICE at the helm of this game do you guys think there will be a rush like game mode added alongside the classic command post conquest and CTF game modes?
Personally i think that could be quite fun , instead of mcom stations it could be supply drops or something, imagine playing this supply grab game mode on mos eisely and getting the first two drops destroying buildings and such and then moving on to the dune sea .. that's just epic.
i bet that in the dice swbf, there will be these things called cps, which you must capture to spawn from :)

Woah, what a revolutionary game-play mechanic!
I wonder if they'll have the customization options like the custom infantry and classes on BF3 like in Renegade or Elite Squad.
Also will they remake any of the old BF1 or BF2 maps like Mos Eisley or Yavin 4 in BF3 to keep the same chain of remade Battlefront maps going.

I would love to see any SWBFI or SWBFII maps in the new game. But I
DO NOT want to have only the generic Mos Eisley or Yavin IV. I want different maps on those same planets utilizing/optimising the Frostbite Engine. A
real Mos Eisley. Get what I mean?

So something like what Rends did for his SWBFII Mos Eisley map, but much grander and more movie accurate, right? :P

You should try out Rends Mos Eisley Spaceport map. If you go in the cantina during GCW conquest you see a bunch of aliens having a drink!
In the film the cantina isn't actually that big, so Rends did a great job!

I can only fetch ya the FileFront link, unless I happen to come across Rend's website again.

EDIT: Here's Rends' website, it might give different download links, but it looks near identical:

I only know of the filefront link. If you need in elsewhere I can upload it for you. Oh and it's for SWBFII.
