Actually an adverb wouldnt work. Your gonna need a regular adjective

an adverb is used to describe anything other than a noun,
I was approaching "a stay" as a verb, but I guess it's a noun too.

an adverb in the states as far as i know is usually known as something ending in -ly. So, this is how an adverb would have worked
