Title: Dying CRT? (Solved)
Post by: Radical_Pi on March 20, 2009, 07:16:42 AM
I've got a NEC MultiSync FE700, and I think it might be at the end of it's life. Randomly, although more often when the majority of the screen changes in something like going to another page, the screen goes grayscale with a smearing affect to the right. Usually, this can be cleared with a power-off then on, but usually it returns to that state fairly fast. Is my monitor dying?

Short answer yes, but it is also possible its a mess up in your graphic side (Can happen from playing alot of games and going in and out of them) but i could tend to think its the rather your monitor

I'm pretty sure it's the monitor, since the smearing is not done within pixel boundaries

have you tried degaussing? Solves like 90% of probs.

On-Off IS degaussing. And yes I tried a manual degauss as well
