If you want to take part in the SWBF leaderboards please sign up below either as an individual or as a team of 4. Hopefully we can get a good number of players and have some good games. The rules are below.
Rules and outline:
The swbf leaderboards tournament will be split into two sections one for individuals and one for teams of four and will start on September 1st. Thanks to Led/Buckler it will be hosted by SWBFgamers.
Individuals:
The first 20 (I'm optimistic) people to join will be be given random numbers to order them in the scoreboard. If you want to move up in the rankings you need to challenge someone within 3 places of you(for example number 7 can challenge 6, 5 or 4). If you win you take their place and they move down one. New players have to start at the bottom and work up.
Every player is expected to accept 2 challenges a week but there is no maximum. Admins will oversee any matches where a player requests it but both players can agree to no admins before matches. If you want screenshots from the other player you can also arrange this before the match. There would be a time limit of 20 minutes per match for individuals (then first kill wins for ties). There will be no CP bleed (meaning reenforcements will only go down with kills but CPs can be captured. Ticket count will be 15-15.
Teams:
Teams must have 6 registered members and can change only one member a week. Time limit is 30 minutes per match. Other rules are the same as individuals except teams can only challenge within two places and there will be CP bleed. Ticket count will be 250-250.
Both:
The defender would choose the era and map from Cloud city and Mos Eisley with the condition that 2 people cannot play the same map twice in a row. The attacker would choose the team. Gameplay would be capturing cps but no special units for the sake of balance, there will be no AI.
Rules:
1.Screenshots must be taken of all scores.
2.No mods (minimap always on, transparency etc.) Only crosshairs and player skins are allowed.
3.No cussing/swearing
4.No wall hacking
5.Remember this just a game so be nice and play fairly with other players.
6.No challenging the same player more than 2 weeks in a row.
7.No special units (Jets, Wookie or Droideka)
8.No tanks
9.If an admin is requested for a match the match must start within 10 minutes of the proposed time. It will then start regardless of how many players are present.
10.Matches are based on the position of the players before the match not the leaderboard. Example: If player 5 beats 4 he is then out of range of player 8 even if the leaderboard has not been updated yet. Its not as confusing as that sounds.
11. Challenges must be accepted within 6 days and played 2 days after that or you will be moved below the challenger.
12.Any arguments over matches must be posted the same day
Penalties for breaking these rules will normally take the form of a place drop.

Remember after number 20 your position will no longer be randomised so you will have to work your way up.

3. 212 (Nixo, Purreboy, Norris, Adamus, Mart and Arrow(?) )
We're currently looking a bit short on teams. I know they take longer to organise but if any clans or groups of individuals are thinking of joining please do post even if you're not 100% sure.

I'm still learning as I go :) Assuming you can host It will be Mos Eisley and Cloud City for teams and individuals both will have cps but individuals will be no cp bleed. I didn't do it beacuse I wanted to check with you.

Ultimately it depends on who the admins are. If they would make biased decisions they shouldn't be an admin at all. Any admin should be capable of thinking fairly and be able to take all factors into account in order to come to a fair decision. I agree. All I recommend is that the Admins don't participate in the 4v4. You cant really cheat on 1v1.
I can take part in the 1vs1 but I away for 3 weeks from now. :D
I come back on the 2nd September so i cant play the first too days but will be sure to make matches after that

Is this going to be on any map? or a mod map? Or just cloud city?
It will be Cloud City and Mos Eisley (says in the 'both' section of the rules). I would have liked to do more maps but I don't want to use up too much server space and I would like to keep it on the official servers. For now we will use unmodded maps since glitching and mods aren't allowed in the tournaments but if we get problems we might have to use a map like the tournament version of cloud city. I also want to avoid using addon maps so new players can join without having to learn how to use them straight away.
Can we add Rhen Var? A lot of people like that map..

gdh92 just told me on xfire that map skin mods like cloud city twilight are not allowed. I will be removing myself from this tournament unless this rule is changed. I expect others may also lose interest for being forced to use stock map skins in duels. I had enough of that in Sk's tournament that ugly orange skin on cloud city is just too unbearable. maybe someone else can set up a leaderboards/tournament with not so many restrictions?
i really hope the 'transparency' issue is not the reason why because transparency can be added to player skins just as easily as building skins.
If you had let me get further than than saying 'technically no' before swearing at me and calling me a hater you might learn something. Before you logged off I was trying to say that although I don't want skins like the transparent skin if you told the person you were playing I couldn't see a problem with that skin.
I want this tournament to be more relaxed than others but I put a blanket ban on mods so that there were no 'gray areas' and so new players can enjoy it aswell. For the record I have alot of respect for the work you do and have in the past stood up for your mods but all I've done is tried to make a way for people to have a bit of extra enjoyment in this game and I don't want to be abused for it especially through private messanging when I'm not even doing anything with battlefront. (I don't mind general conversations if I'm on x-fire).

I'm sorry to hear it but thank you for being honest. I had hoped to include all the regular players but finding a balance is impossible when some people wont play when there is mods. The best I can offer is that if both players agree modded skins are fine you can use them but ultimately this is a Battlefront tournament and we can only change the game so much before it becomes unfair. I'm sorry we couldn't work this out but hopefully this way some people can be happy.

This is why I had the matches take place inside an addon map. I mean who visits this site who hasn't installed one? And it is the only truly reliable method of stopping people from cheating. Taking screenshots can be gotten around, I won't be saying how but it can be beat quite easily.
It would be up to the players involved to say before the match how much they wanted checked. On request there would be admins available and players would have to take screenshots. It's not a route I want to go down as I believe most people will stick to the rules which is why I'm leaving it as a choice. For later in the tournament I'm looking at using a mod map for the top 10 as requested by some people.

My two cents (and you get what you pay for): allow skin modifications, at the very least. Screenshots can be trivially gotten around by using a skin changer, unless you want the players to not even have skin changer installed. (This would be truly unfair, as participants would then have have to uninstall and reinstall CCSC for any match.)
Off the top of my head I can think of no strategic advantage offered by, say, the CC twilight skin. Can anyone else?

If you're referring to the chamber on CC twilight then yes, it is easier to spot the mines but otherwise it doesn't really make a difference. I still get blown up by mines in the chamber anyway.

It seems the people for and against mod skins are pretty much even but it's easy enough to turn off. I will say this for the final time; I have every respect for the mods that are made for this game but if the lighting is changed on a map it does, even in a small way, change the gameplay. If both players/teams are happy I don't mind if it's used though. If players request it videos might have to be made but thats alot of effort for players so I want to avoid it.
I hope everyone can just get along and enjoy the tournament, I only started it for fun and that seems to be something I'm not getting out of it anymore but hopefully others will. :)
If people have any changes they want to the rules/I've missed something please continue to let me know, the only thing I'm considering changing at the moment is to do with the request for a mod map for the top players later in the tournament.

So now you're letting everyone else except me use mod map skins? Really goes to show how you were just looking for a reason to exclude FC members. Nobody can claim they respect my cloud city skin mods when they exclude people from participating for using them. Thank god you will never be getting mmsc this just thread goes to show how far people can take contributions for granted.
I'm going to start another leaderboards tournament with map skin mods allowed the thread will be up later today or tomorrow.

Since everyone else is just going to be using cloud city skin changer to put it on stock mode when you guys ask for a screenshot, you truly have no way of preventing people from using twilight skins. You are just excluding the few people who are brave enough to stand up for the mods..
well if you want to use the CCSC u have to ask your opponent if u can u can NOT use the other maps other than the stocklike Bespin.

I said anyone can use the twilight mod skin if both teams agree (I've talked to Sev about this and he agrees). I'm not sure how that excludes FC members members, or what they have to do with this sorry if I wasn't clear. Out of interest is it just the twilight skin you want to use or other mods?

I only care about/would only use twilight skins, and I clearly stated if I am allowed to use the skin keep my name on the list, if not then remove it. So you removed my name, but now you are saying twilight skins are ok as long as both teams agree? Sounds fishy.

He's not looking to exclude anyone. He just wants people to follow a consistent set of rules. You are welcome to participate or not participate--same as WUSI was for the radar mod being allowed in the ICW--and they elected to not participate.

If people are asked to use the stock map, then they should respect the rule and intent of the tournament. Just because it's possible to not follow the rules and get away with it, it does not mean it's the right thing to do. This has nothing to do with being brave or LOW. I said twilight skins were ok if both teams agreed when you first asked about the rule over X-fire. I removed your name because I thought thats what you wanted. I'll gladly put it back if you're happy with the current rules. I just want to have as many people involved as possible and have a good time. :)

Yes, we know--but GDH is firm about his wanting to use a map without people having to download. He is aware of the advantages and disadvantages. Since it is his tournament idea, we should let him run it as he sees fit.

As I stated in the readme anyone is free to use it as they will. That wasn't what I was thinking exactly when I said "tournament map" since FC would most likely drop out if it was used. Truth be told I don't know what I was thinkinh half the time I don't. "I'm a dog chasing cars. I don't think I just do."
As long as I get to use twilight skin for the majority of the time (since I'm sure most players wouldn't object to it) then I suppose I could live with using the ugly orange stock skin :censored: for the few instances where it is mandatory. I still have sleepkillers tournament map in my secondary addon folder, I think it was a good way to force the exact play conditions the host wants. Maybe this concept could be expanded on to allow for both teams on CC, and on mos also.

Mod maps won't be until later anyway. I'll do my best to find a way for you not to use them. Is it a problem where one of your players can't use them or you just don't want to?
He doesn't have admin controls of his computer.

Until me and Sev have discussed this it applies only to teams where we need a clear idea of members. While sooner is better individuals are welcome to join and work their way up later in the tournament. :)

Yes there's no limit to teams from anywhere and all team members can also be in the 1on1, and thanks I was starting to get worried about the teams.
Just in case anyones unsure the limit of six people is a guideline; if you're confident you can make it to matches you can just have 4 or 5, but the other team has the right to start with the full 4 people even if you only turn up with 3 :)
I guess I'll give it a shot, but I'm still not 100% convinced if I will be able to participate for the whole duration of this tournament. Events outside SWBF may coincide with the tourny, particularly near the end of September... so you can put me on the temporary list for now.

In regards to the common.lvl, I can just make a video of the main things that it changes. It mostly changes the text and makes the scope more realistic when you zoom in, as far as I can see.
I'll put not confirmed by your name for now then. Since you were there from the beggining and sign ups are slowing down now I'll leave you in the top 20 unless you definately won't be here (there should be very few battles going on in the ICW by then since there's effectively only 2 teams left). Unless it changes anything else I can't see a problem with that common.
Also if YAK want to participate, it would be less battles than the ICW and I can't be a part but it would be nice to see YAK continue. :)

Anyone can drop out. It's not legally binding. ;) As long as you don't forfeit a planned battle there won't be any penalties for missing the the odd match as long as you don't miss 3 or more since people can challenge within 3 places so you will just get moved down anyway if you don't play much. :)

Sorry, I haven't checked this forum is quite a while. What is the tournament map? Do I have to download it?
The tournament map is one of a few ideas I'm considering for later in the tournament if people using mods becomes a problem for players. For now no downloads are needed to play. :)

I'll be sure to make it on BF when I can. ;) I just don't know if I'll be able to commit to something like a tourney in the first month of school. I'll probably come to one and done things like DCs and Sleepkiller's Courtyard Bash that will be just an hour or two on a Saturday afternoon. :D

As long as they're posted in the main thread it doesn't matter how you take them as long as you upload them straight after ;). Whoever you play can probably take a photo anyway though.
