Greetings, citizens of SWBFGamers! Majesty (xfire=promajesty) and Joseph (xfire=joseph9371) are planning an event on Sat, Jan. 24 - Sun, Jan. 25. This will be a friendly "competition" between two teams that anyone can join (by posting here).
One team will play as Empire/Clones, the other plays as Rebels/CSI. Please wear tags that indicate your team (like [IMP], ~ReBeLs~ etc.) in-game for clarity. The rules are ICW4 rules (link; relevant part is under "Match Rules" (http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=7924.0)), plus an added rule: no spawn-mining. Saturday (CW)

You made typo, you called team "Rebels/CSI Team" unless there is a CSI team replacing CIS and in that case I am confused...

I noticed that it is mentioned that many are Sereja's maps.
Unless you use stock sides, many of his maps will not work in MP.

How? The download says "ERROR 404 - PAGE NOT FOUND", and to make Sereja's maps work online the mission LUA will need to be reconstructed. Even then, some still won't work in MP because of BF2 ODF properties embedded in the world LVL. What maps are supposed to be included?

Sereja wanted to include unique features in his maps, some of which happened to break online compatibility. They can be patched in theory, but the source data hasn't been released for everything he made.
- Vertical City is the hardest one to fix, Dark Phantom and I have been working on this for months. There are many problems with this map that break OC, at least 10 major issues were noted from testing. The data folder released for Otoh Gunga is not from the latest version he posted, so that needs to be tested still.
- Monastary and Death Star should already work online, if not then its easy to rebuild the addme/mission.
- Post the link for Kamino Clone Facility and I will try to fix this first, if it crashes in SP then usually there is some errors noted in BFront.log

well i can try to fix some of them, but the ones that can't be fixed will have to be replaced with other mod maps. ill test the kamino map now.
editfrom the readme, it's obvious these sides and mission won't work online because of 5 weapons. if i have time i will rebuild the mission LUA from scratch for this map to use stock sides. the common.lvl does not need to be replaced, the turret is stored properly in the world LVL it seems.

Well, I tried to fix the map by adding stock units and everything works fine in SP, but it crashes MP ingame and on the root server. The map might have to be replaced with another, there are some severe bugs noted in BFront.log that are most likely causing the crash.
I've attached the modmap + LUA source here if anyone else wants to try patching it. The LUA builders can also be used as a template to patch other mod maps accordingly. I've run out of ideas to fix this map and don't have time to test any others today. But as Led says, it will be much easier just to add replacement maps that already work online, unless Dark Phantom or another modder finds some other patch solution I might have missed.

Unless some major breakthrough comes up, some of those maps by Sereja will not work in Multiplayer. This is not only due to the Sides (which we can change, but then some of the excitement is lost), but some things from Battlefront 2 objects may be causing crashes in MP, along with some effects and other things we probably will never find the issues with. It could just be an overload of the engine. I tried a while back with Nar Shaddaa and an old version of Otoh Gunga and couldn't get either to work. If I get time, I will try again.
Nevertheless, I will reiterate what Led said. These maps are absolutely amazing. I do not appreciate your negative comments about it. Sereja spent a ton of time on them to be played in SP, without some of the limits of MP.
Good work in MP LAN mode mod-map Monastery. Me and Majesty playing on this map in MP mode. It was working good!
But other present here maps for event don't work good in MP mode.
(020) OTOH GUNGA is don't loading.
(018) NAR SHADAA is loading but crash when I starting a game.
(010) DEATH STAR is loading but crash when I choose type of warrior.

You said something about players may need to switch teams, and wouldn't it be confusing if someone(s) with the name "(*REBEL*)<Namehere> had to switch to empire? That would be... a mess. Plus there's people who don't have or want nickchanger, they have to completely re-do their control assignments.
Due to using controllers in my setup, (Joystick, being one) and swbf not exactly being very kind to me as I set up my controller, it can take me an hour to 100% perfect my control setup. Since it's two different tags... yeah. :dry:

I'm just going to say a few things before the matches tomorrow based off today.
First off I just want to say that the games today were really fun, however there were a few hiccups along the way.
1. Listen to the organizes of the event, in this case Majesty and Joseph, we had false start on the coursant map because of this, fortunately it didn't turn into a big issue, but it could have quite easily have forced a restart. (I understand different languages can make things more difficult).
2. I don't think myself or anyone else knows what the exact definition of a spawn mine. I assume that it refers to a mine on a spawn point and/or in an enemy cp, but there seemed to be some confusion. Clarification would probably help.
3. As far as I am aware wallhacking (i.e glitching into a wall) isn't permitted, even from a short time on RlcT map there appears to be a few glitches, hopefully this isn't exploited.
Overall though it was very fun and I'm looking forward to tomorrows games :tu:
