What exactly do you have to do to make a mod online compatible? I know you cant do much. I tried just editing skins and weapons but it did not work. What do I do?
You can only change models, effects, and skins.
Here's an example of a online comp mod http://www.mpcgamers.com/smf/index.php?topic=1988.0

Ah ok that clears things up. So you can't give for example, a trooper an emp launcher?
You can swap the model so that it looks like it is holding an emp launcher, but editing the weapon values (fire rate, ammo size, etc.) is not possible.
Laser color, new models (in theory, it need to be the same collision mesh unless the model doesn't have collision), new skins, new sounds, and new animation are all online compatible. So pretty much everything that doesn't effect the gameplay. I believe that covers everything that will be online compatible. Once you start changing gameplay values is when it will cease to function online. So don't try to make the sniper rifle semi-automatic and try to get away with it :P
My example. (http://screenshot.xfire.com/s/79201292-4.jpg)
New model, new laser color, new sound (I believed I managed to implement sound when I made that model. Now if only I can find it...)
Ah ok thanks ag! I guess I got a little too trigger-happy :D
I believe this is solved?
Yes it is solved. I can't edit the topic though...wierd.
