Whatever man.  You "hear" what you want to hear.  Have you tried my GR server?  It is set for 30 ticks per second to give you 30 FPS just like the NFO hosted PLA servers.  If you don't want to bother with the other options, that is fine, but I will point out that it does harm to the other interested players to spread false information.

Well, I suppose I MIGHT get Tunngle or GameRanger one day. Just curios, which has more players on it, GameRanger, or Tunngle?

I too hate this. I'm thinking my best bet will probably be to start playing SWBF2, rather than download Tunngle, as I've heard many issues with it, and not GameRanger either, as I've heard there's a laggy framerate with it. So, I will still remain active on the site, just might not see me on SWBF at all now. :(

Farewell SWBF! :'(

Like I said, if worse does come to worse, I will either end up using Tunngle, or move to SWBF2. If SWBF2 shuts down, I will just play solo on SWBF: Elite Squadron. :P

Well, it does say "enemy fire", and generally that assumes if you are in command of vehicle, or on foot. Secondary position in a vehicle and being in a turret, or end of map with no vehicle, are generally your dead-zones. :P

Lol Tirp.
For me, its usually rolling head shots, I've gotten banned from several servers, because they hated me for my sniper skill, of course, that was a long time ago, and I really suck now, especially because all my fav training servers are gone..... DARN YOU GAMESPY!!

Not to go off topic here, but I see the Gamespy server shutdown as a way to practice solo, and to also get some hours on SWBF2.

Shotgun to the face/chest, as a 1 shot kill in close range. That, or the joy of zapping everyone on the battlefield. :D

I saw and heard about it when Star Wars: Celebration IV was going. Saw the vids, tho I admit I'm not a fan of this, it is really funny if your into Robot Chicken or just love Star Wars jokes. :P

The same thing that happened to us will happen to SWBF2, it is just a matter of time.

Well, then I guess I will either be forced to use Tunngle or GameRanger, or I will be forced to play SWBF: Elite Squadron on my DS Lite.  :XD:

BF2 is another thing to look into alongside this, perhaps for multiplayer events. That game still has its servers up and runming as of yesterday.

I agree. If LucasArts is not going to solve this, I probably will consider Tunngle, or SWBF2. Although I have only played for 2 years, I'm not die-hard enough to be a SWBF1 player, I more-so consider myself a "Battlefrontian", since I own both games and play them. So, there is a likely chance I will move on to SWBF2 if the issue isn't resolved, rather than use Tunngle or GameRanger.

I just wanted to say a few things about this;
First of all while I disagree with what Gamespy have done many new games are turned off after 2 years now so 8 years of support (which must cost them) shouldn't be forgotten.

Also while I think as many should complain as possible it should be kept civil, spamming won't help. The one person I have got through to not only gave me the original message I posted but also sent me another telling me about the possibility of using gameranger which I appreciate him going out of his way to do. Gamespy might not be popular but the individuals who deal with us have done nothing wrong.

And finally I have been in contact with LucasArts who just sent me this;
Hi Glyn,
We are currently looking into this issue.
Your case has been escalated to our tier 2 department for review, a tier 2 agent will contact you when have more information in regards to this issue.

:censored: with Technical support.
It doesn't mean very much but it does at least mean there are still people around at LucasArts.

Edit: The censored bit is just a name of the person I'm E-mailing who i didn't think would like his name published here at the moment. :)

Of all the negativity and hopeless talk and some hopeful talk, this post I find had the most hope in it. At least it's a sign LucasArts has a decency of caring for one of their best games.

Today was Remembrance Day for the Canadians, and it does the same as the US holiday.

I too agree with you, tirpider.

Some are in rar, I've noticed more in 7z or zip though.
Every now and then you will find a self extracting (exe) archive.

Not sure what winzip covers these days, but I know 7zip and WinRar cover all three.

Alright, I will keep that in mind. Thanks again, tirpider!  :)
