Problem with Zero Editor (typical Runtime error)
« on: June 23, 2012, 02:26:21 PM »
Hello to all. Sorry my english, I'm spanish. I think this post is in the correct section, but if it not, please, move it to the correct section.
I have a problem with the Zero Editor.
My pc:

RAM --> 4,00 GB
Intel Core2 Duo CPU 2,66 GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bits
My Graphic Card is a Asus GeForce GTX 550 Ti

I read from here and from other forum (gametoast) things to do to make the Zero Editor works, but doesn't work.
When I had Windows XP (about 8 months ago), the Zero Editor worked, and I had a Nvidia 7800 GT graphic card.
When I installed Windows 7, with the 7800 graphic card the Zero Editor didn't work. And with the GTX 550 Ti, it didn't work.
I don't know how to make it work, because I downloaded the updates of my graphic card and didn't work. I want to make more mods for SWBF :(
I have this error when I execute the program, (the typical runtime error):

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ok, I execute it with Windows XP SP2 and SP3 compatibility. But, now, I have this error:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I don't know how can I make the Zero Editor works :( Please, help me. I really want to make mods for SWBF.
Thanks.

Hmm, are you wanting to make SWBF mods or SWBF2 mods ?

If I you need any comparisons this is the same problem I have with ZE (I can launch Bfbuilder but have other problems there :) ) I'm using a Nvidia Gtx 580 and I remember reading somewhere that ZE doesn't like Nvidia.
I play less now but I'll always be around, lets all get along and keep battlefront going. :)

I know that some Nvidia cards cause ZE not to work. I can't remember which one though..

I'm making mods for SWBF2, but I think if I use the ZE from the BFBuilder (mod tools SWBF1), the ZE wouldn't work.

But.... When I had Windows XP and a Nvidia 7800 GT the ZE works, and now with Windows 7 and the Nvidia 7800 GT or the Asus GTX 550 Ti doesn't work.
I don't understand :(

As I see, from your pic, your ModTool is on the some disc "E". May be you, just need to try reinstall it to "C"?

The first thing I would suggest is trying to run the program in "XP Compatibility Mode" which you can do by right clicking on the program and find the correct tab to set this option.

Other than that, here is what I have been able to find on the web:

I'm not sure any of these would help, but maybe there is something in them.
Also, I would suggest that you go to gametoast.com and see if they have an FAQ about it.
It certainly seems that you are not the only one to run across this issue.  Best of Luck!

Some things to note:
Try to run ZE with 3D-Analyze
Try updating your graphics card drivers
Switch your graphics to Highest 32 bit
Try turning off Aero Glass
Try right clicking on the exe and "Run as Administrator"
Try disabling User Account Control (UAC) for administrators

here are 3 types of zeroeditor, try each one separately. rename the file to zeroeditor.exe and place in the data folder. if none of them work you might not have a compatible cpu or operating system.

Nothing D: It doesn't work. I tried with Buckler said but nothing, I have the same error. Then, I tried with Phobos said, but nothing, the same error. I don't know how can I make to the ZE works.
I thought to change my operative system to Windows XP, but I have a problem. Battlefield 3 won't work with Windows XP :( I don't know what to do. Only, if I can fix other computer maybe I can work with it in the ZE.
Is there other solution? :(

It didn't work for me but if you're using windows 7 professional or ultimate you can try using windows xp mode.
