PS2 for SWBF and SWBF2 / PS2 emulator info
« on: August 20, 2017, 06:19:40 PM »
hi Led if the players want to play from eu or japan regions they can use a high end pc using the emulator/ntsc ps2 swbf1 iso/network startup disc that i sent to you and drunken master. or they have to get a mod chip in the client ps2. or use a soft mod ps2 with freemc boot installed on the client memory card http://www.ebay.com/itm/Free-MCBoot-1-953-FMCB-Playstation-2-64MB-Memory-Card-ESR-HDL-OPL-MORE-/272776758649?hash=item3f82c30579:g:gA8AAOSwSlBYtJAH using the freemc boot they can use a ntsc disc/iso download. booting the game from a usb stick or burn a new dvd and play on the usa servers like player from germany Pinglucker does. there is some difference in the tv from pal compared to ntsc. using the freemc boot make the client pal ps2 work with the ntsc disc/iso on a usb stick and makes the ps2 region free.

The gate servers can be setup for other regions--this requires a web expert with SSL knowledge.  If you have this knowledge or can find someone, I can point you to the software.

I suspect there may be a way to force the system to use the US gate server, too.

Note that the EU and JP DNAS gate servers can be set up if you find someone good at web stuff.  The DNAS gate server software is available on github and requires someone knowledgeable about SSL certificates.

I don't think that is a working DNS.

Try this one:
74.91.125.138

Thanks guys for wanting to help so much.  Yes, I have used Team Viewer before.  In fact I already have it installed.  Let me know when you want to try to connect.  When you are ready to give this a try, please email me at <email address noted and moved to avoid you getting spammed>.

Thank you.
Sorry, it will be next weekend until I can help.  Thanks for your patience.

Welcome, Nick.  I think most PS2 players use a PC with an emulator.  Our PS2 players such as old snake may be able to provide you with information on the setup.

The physical PS2 requires some sort of mod to the card or something...I am not familiar with that process, but oldsnake may be able to assist.

Have you watched the install video?

Have you ever used team viewer and teamspeak?

I can see your computer with team viewer and see if I can find the issue.  We can talk over teamspeak.  It would have to be some time at the end of next week before I will be available again, but Anyder may be able to help.

I can't think of any good reason why your game would not work.  I see your ISP is comcast, just like me.  They do not block anything related to SWBF/SWBF2.

I don't know if this helps to resolve my issue, but I can't get Game Ranger to install either.  It says that it can't connect to the server.

It sounds like a firewall problem to me...are you at home?  at work?
what country?

Alright, thanks man.  The powershell is needed for long batch files.   For short ones, a regular shell is fine.

There is a GUI for swbf1 ps2, but it never seemed to work quite right for me.

I fixed he commands for the gladiator server.

I'm in town tomorrow, but out again for several days.  (I'll probably have my laptop, but getting time to use it may be tricky.)

Oldsnake has been making missions with changed reinforcement counts.  Otherwise, you just get what the game came with.

Have fun with it and tinker away

OK, here is a full screen video.  Upgrading Bandicam finally made it work for recording.  If you see black flashes, they were not there when I was playing.  Fullscreen bandicam capture is not able to get the highest frame rates.

I can understand if you call that squished for the player.  The map and minimap are not distorted, however.

In any event, if you want a better tool, you (or someone else) will have to make one.

Is there a certain setting of his launcher that I'm not enabling or something? His resolution launcher does a wonderful job at allowing Battlefront to play at higher resolutions, but from what I've seen, it is unable to allow the in-game camera to do REAL widescreen. It's smooshed. The menus and HUD are in proper 16:9 ratio, but your player model and everything else geometry-wise becomes stretched as soon as you spawn.

The only way I found to 'fix' it is by setting your monitor to a 4:3 ratio with black bars on the sides. I mean, it WORKS, but to pass it off as "real widescreen" is what I have an issue with, and you replied like this to numerous comments on your youtube channel.

Even in your widescreen tutorial you had to adjust the sides of the screen in order to make the image appear less stretched. It isn't widescreen. Real widescreen would be full, unstretched in-game resolution with FULL use of the monitor, not just a portion of it.

If it isn't possible, then just say it isn't possible.

as with the other poster, post your vidmode.ini and your configuration.ini please

Use BattleBelks too.  It is real widescreen.  No smooshing if you choose the correct modes.

I installed the fix with all of the steps, and I can't seem to get the fix to work, it just says in the 4x3 resolution

That doesn't give us much room for advice.  Can you post your vidmode.ini file and the configuration file for the launcher?
