If the game natively supported Gamespy and didn't have any special protocols, it COULD work with a host file edit.  We had a discussion before with another group about it.

I think the most convenient thing to do in such a case is to do some research and see if the theory is real, before posting it publicly. If it works, we'd be able to update the info website as well as the main SWBFSpy thread in the forums, letting clients know how they'd be able to patch their games and what requirements would be needed for it to work under SWBFSpy.

Hi, how can I create a server?

I want to make a server for this game

Stronghold Legends

I don't know how to do this on VPS server...

available.gamespy.com

master.gamespy.com

motd.gamespy.com

key.gamespy.com

peerchat.gamespy.com

gpsp.gamespy.com

gpcm.gamespy.com

natneg1.gamespy.com

please help

The MS replacement is only available for SWBF1-SWBF2.

If you wish to host your own, go to our downloads section and download the server software for SWBF1/SWBF2 and the SWBFSpy patch.

Here's more info if needed: http://info.swbfspy.com

If you just want to play the game, the downgrade is feasible.  I personally find this an acceptable solution because that version was actually stable.

However, if you want to play on the Steam/GOG servers, you will have to keep trying to fix their buggy version.
Downgrading is a "solution" when it comes to reversing, not fixing the problem since you can't play in MP.

I would like to know if just by adding the Galaxy.dll, the new Common/Shell.lvl files and the Battlefront.exe you're able to get it work for 1.3.5.

If you decide to give it a shot, let me know! Might be a good way to figure out the problem.

This topic is pointless, swa30h. If you wish to, ask him through a DM.

I'm locking the topic -- sorry for the inconvenience!

try using this to downgrade to 1.2 and see if it works. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pUNy_EOyXGtOC6lCR8L8Ew4zS50zuHAN/view?usp=sharing
That shouldn't be a fix to the problem.

@Nach, have you tried the basic of deleting the files and re-downloading them? Have you "verified" files to see if something wasn't downloaded properly?

To me it sounds like one of these things is the problem and should be fixed by trying one of the options above. Could you post a pic of the SWBF Folder?

Swbf2 has the Fps Capped for both SP and Multiplayer AFAIK and it shouldn't make your FPS drop...

I opened and re-zipped the mus2 map above so you can use it now (feel free to re-upload):

Thanks JK! I have edited the download so that it downloads the modmap zipped now.

(I have tested it and it works fine)

General / Re: has anybody made a custom campaign, is it possible?

anyrider please teach me how you made the custom planet icons i now under stand how to add new campaigns to the shell thanks to phatom but i still have a lot to learn. also if you want leave a link to the campaigns they look amazing i want to test them. i just realized this isnt my post but i am working on a custom campaign that replaces the stock gcw and cw trough the addon system.
As sorry as I am, I stopped modding about 4 years and that's not precisely one of my priorities (taking into account I dedicate most of my time to SWBF & Player engagement). I just wanted to say that it's possible and it was part of a bigger project called Zero Battlefront if I'm not wrong.

There are no custom galactic conquests.  I'm not sure if anyone has done any custom campaigns either.

I'm in the process of making it easier for people to access custom galactic conquests, but it is a little way off.  Custom campaigns are easier but still not well explored.
It is possible to create custom campaigns -- https://www.twitch.tv/videos/664922179

But it is true that it requires a lot of investigation with shell.lvl and of course, thinking of what you want to create.

Okay. As I can't figure a way to connect to the swbfspy servers on linux. Is there any other way for me and my cousin to just directly connect to each others computers. I saw there is Gameranger; would that maybe work? I don't care so much about getting on servers as I do just being able to play while he is away.
You don't need swbfspy in other to play with your cousin if you live together - just use LAN.

Give a shot to gameranger, I do not know if it's gonna be the solution or not, but I'd definitely give it a try.

I'm using the side builder. I can't figure out how to do this.

Do we edit the tga file? or do we edit the odf, & what do we edit?

Please let me know?
The _ord files contain this info (Light color).

I cant figure what it is I'm missing. Is there any kind of whitelist i need to be added to or something? I feel like I read about that somewhere once. Im just at a loss. In the mean time I'll start over, the install and try a different wine version.
What? There is nothing like that needed, otherwise you wouldn't have connected to servers...
What you need is just the exe file replacement. That's it. The other issues are linked to the game/OS. Not the multiplayer alternative.

Okay so I added the hosts listed from this post: https://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=11331.0
And now It works just fine on my Mac! So I did the same on the linux computer, but that is still the same "lost connection to host".
I need it to work on Linux, because that is my cousins laptop. I plan to introduce him to star wars battlefront ps2 split-screen, when he visits for a week or so. Then I wanted to set SWBF on his linux notebook so we can continue to play while apart.

So I added the hosts using "nano" editor in terminal on linux. Then I restarted and checked to make sure they saved (which they did). I start SWBF and try joining every server but all give "lost connection to host". I did this process thing on Mac and now it works, unless it is just some coincidence it started working on Mac.

I also don't know what you mean by backup load-

So as to reduce the load time I have 2 things in my game that save time:

1) Custom load file & removed map loads --- Check image attached.
2) Disabled load screens (hexedited).

15
You can either use a hosts file modification (Windows) or use the exe. Result is gonna be the same. As for the load, it shouldn't be taking long, but if it does, I think you can move to a backup folder every file in Load, except for load.lvl and see if it speeds it up.
