Released Assets / Re: Improved E-11 Blaster and E-11C

It's definitely the Sterling:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's amazing how much of the weaponry of the original films was based off the guns of WW1 and WW2. The DLT-20A and A280C were both based off the STG44, for instance, and the DLT-19 is based off the MG34.

You learn a lot when building these weapons.
Gee I knew about the E11, didn't know about the A280, fun facts!

There's been an ongoing and pretty significant backlash in regards to the loot crate system recently.
A developer response on the SWBF reddit has become the most downvoted post ever, which is fun.

Hey there new person!

Sorry about the auto censor, I think I got carried away one day and censored even some of the more tame words.

SWBF1 Modding / Re: Dissecting the EULA of the mod tools

Lovely thorough analysis.

Would the new Disney EULA completely throw the older one out the window, or only replace elements that it explicitly overwrites?

General / Re: Which is more popular?

I think it's more of general dislike towards loot boxes; although they may not turn out to be totally encouraging pay-to-win gameplay, they are in some ways exploitive.

Although I read a good analogy that they are not more harmful to younger players than those coin operated toy dispensers you see around.

One does here of those horror stories that impressionable players are spending thousands on these things. All those stupid unboxing videos encourage it, it's horrible.

There is a screenshot function on PS4 isn't there?

If I get it working I'll try and get some nice pictures for you, I'll see if I can turn off the HUD also.

Also - The 'reinforcement' classes are really really fun.

Superbattle droid is a right one-man army.

Looks like it with heroes at least for sure.

Hopefully we'll get the whole face / haircut / species customisation with Rebels etc

I'm having a grand time so far, feels like there's a lot more going on that'll take many an hour to get my head around...

Which is a good thing!

There's plenty to unlock and consider, and I'm sure they'll be thousands of YT videos discussing the best load out for each class.

The only negative thing so far is the FOV on third person, which is a little close, but I would imagine that one would get used to it, or it would be adjustable in the final product.

I suppose this is what many folks expected in 2015, but honestly, I really enjoyed SWBF 2015... so this is just fab.

I also hope that units will eventually have aesthetic customisation, but we'll see (I expect they will).

Too bad they can't/won't/didn't put SWBF1 on steam...

Is there a particular reason why they wouldn't?
I think someone here gave a good, solid reason once, but I've forgotten.

Star Wars Battlefront II / Re: SWBF2 Multiplayer Returns on Steam?

That's a pretty wild development. I guess they figured they could bank on the new player base buying the original game, and thought they might as well fix a few things.

Star Wars Battlefront: EA Reboots 1 and 2 / Re: Free Season Pass for EA:SWBF

It's 4 locations and most all of the modes.  But you won't get bored with it--since no one plays the DLC and it's nearly impossible to find a game.  This weekend there were 7000 PC players on, and I still couldn't find a match on Scarif...
Out of all of the DLC packs, I think Scarif was a bit sub-par.

Arm-chair dev opinion:

I think they must have faced some very restrictive deadlines, and by that point the bulk of the team was probably working on SWBF2.
I'm pretty sure they had very little to go on in terms of source material, since the DLC came out before the film.

At least the new game doesn't seem to be going for paid map DLC.

Kinda makes me annoyed I bothered paying for it. EA!

General / Re: My favorite musician
« on: August 28, 2017, 04:09:57 PM »
Freddie Mercury is my favourite (lead singer of Queen). Everyone should watch their live aid performance once. :)

I think Freddie was one of the great all-round performers, he could really get a crowd going.

I'd have to pick the Beatles since they contributed a vast amount to music in general, and I consider Revolver and Sgt. Peppers fault-less albums.

That gives some nice finality to those old arguments I remember about JK assets.
