Star Wars Battlefront / my openspy attempt/HOSTS file informatoin« on: May 01, 2013, 06:05:00 PM »
OK, so I tried open spy. I edited my hosts file on my XP playing computer and on the 2003 Server.
I started the server on NFO. I started my game at home. I get hung up at the 0% and 100% values for the internet lobby. I hit cancel, then I can see the NFO server and the FC servers. They ping at 9999. I can not get into the PLA NFO server. I can get into the FC server. HOSTS file is located here on windows XP: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc be careful if you use Notepad to open this file, as it will make the file name hosts.txt and you need it without the TXT exstension, just: hosts Here is what I added to my HOSTS file: Code: [Select] 198.91.90.160 swbfrontpc.ms4.gamespy.com

Star Wars Battlefront / OpenSpy how and when to transition?« on: April 29, 2013, 06:16:23 AM »
I've been tied up all weekend, but have read the last posts about openspy.
The big questions: -how do we advertise the transition? -would gamespy shut down openspy? -has the issue of patched player exe versus host file patcher been resolved? The advantages: -maybe allows direct connection again -maybe allows mac and PC play together again -can re-unite gameranger and tunngle players The disadvantages: -another transition period -if openspy shuts down, then we are faced with yet another transition Perhaps there is a way to get the openspy software and host it ourselves? Bandit has offered to host such a solution when this sort of idea first came up. What does everyone think? 10

Forum News and Forum Rules / NFO server renewed« on: April 25, 2013, 12:45:37 PM »
I have renewed our SWBFgamers.com / PLA NFO server that hosts our dedicated servers via Tunngle for the another six months. The next renewal will be in December 2013.
We are maintaining about 180-220 GB of traffic each month since Gamespy shut down (500-600 GB before the shutdown). If we maintain around the 200 GB level I will probably renew the NFO server. If we drop below 100 GB per month, I would probably host from home again.

That was quite an odyssey.
Forget that April 23rd from 2 pm to April 25 until 4:30 am happened ![]() I learned a few things along the way. The biggest thing I learned is that we are going to stick with SMF 2.0.2 ![]() Now, I will break the forum rule about smileys: 13
