Forum News and Forum Rules / Re: Player of the Month

I said take KPM into account--not completely base it off those statistics. That would defeat the purpose of the activity.

For example, let's say the top 3 players based on kills had scores of 1,200, 1,178, and 1140. However, number one had a KPM of .95 and number two had a KPM of 3.45. In this situation, I'd say number two is player of the month, especially if it took number one a longer time to reach that number.

It's only a suggestion of course, as I don't see why Player of the Month should solely be based on the number of kills. Not like I have any personal stake in this and the current leader, Eternal, seems to be in good standing in both categories.
I could be idle for a long time, and that time would ruin my KPM ratio.

It is based on kills for a simple reason: if someone needs more time to get more kills, it means he's making an effort.
Reaching X amounts of kills is only a matter of will.

I used to play SWBF1 and 2 in PS2 and kinda miss the first one cause i lost the disc  :'( . I mainly have 3 questions:

    1. What is SWBFspy and how does it works? Is it centralized or can I host a server in my RPi?

    2. Mods : How do I [ install them | build my own ] ? And which are your favourites?

    3. Is there much lagg? I've optic fibre in Spain, Europe

    4.  :moo::xmastim:
Welcome to SWBFGamers

1) SWBFSpy is a masterserver replacement for GameSpy. If u seek any other info, u can find it all here: http://info.swbfspy.com
You can host gameservers there, yeah. But i'd recommend a VPS or Rootserver to host, it will be easier unless u know how to deal with a router and the firewall.
Here's a hosting tutorial: http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=1375.0

2) Despite being outdated, this topic should help a lot on where to find tools/assets/tutorials -- http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=3615.0 --
Otherwise if u are searching for something specific, u can make use of the search tab.

This is the board for SWBF1 Modding Tutorials --> http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?board=49.0
This is the board for SWBF2 Modding Tutorials --> http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?board=115.0

3) Lag will only happen if your connection is low, or has routing point issues (which are more likely to happen if your internet provider is doing some maintenance). Give it a try and let us know  ;)
I also live in Spain and do not have any issues with it.

Also, to take kills per minute into account would be worse - someone could just join one server, get 20 kills in a minute, and then never show up again.  It defeats the purpose of activity.
Tomorrow I'll write an update on the situation of this month

I think it would be nice to take kills per minute into account as well when giving out the awards. IMO, that shows a greater indication of skill rather than the amount of time played, which would most likely correlate with the most kills.
It is player of the month, not "top skilled". People can get the #1 place by either spending hours or just killing a lot.

Weekly Relay - Week 50

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So my friend and I downloaded the patch, we both mades accounts and when my friend went onto the server list he couldn't see anything while I could. He's tried reinstalling the patch and restarting his game multiple times, mine worked mostly fine but I did run into the same problem once but I simply fixed it by restarting my game, my friend's problem however doesn't seem to want to go away.

Any help is appreciated, cheers.
Make sure the the file is installed properly and that he is using the appropriate version/language of his game. Is he running the new file, or the old one ?

SWBFspy: Internet Master Server Discussions / SWBFSpy Learning Dpt.
« on: December 09, 2017, 01:16:06 PM »

Good night guys!

As you all know SWBFSpy started a new department called "Learning" which will be a dpt. to provide guides and "learning cards" to help people get SWBFSpy working, provide some “standard” to the roles and teach new SWBFSpy Staff members what their functions are and how to perform them, organize modding contest and events related to the modding-world, etc.

All the dpt members count on a custom email (name@swbfspy-engagement.com) as a privacy measure, however they have to check it as much as they can since they will be the ones community will contact for help, and the ones to be contacted in case a SWBFSpy Engagement dpt. member doesn't know how to do something.

Why am I posting all of this ? Because at first I would like to know if anyone here wants to be part of it.

The tasks for a Learning Specialist are the following:
- Will be given access to a common account for the gameservers, ts3 ( and Discord, so as to teach new promotions how to make use of their permissions appropriately.
- Provide help to people to install SWBFSpy and will spread the word on all Community Events.
- Develop guides and "learning cards" explaining how to install patches, common issues, etc.
- Know how each role works and their functions to be able to train anyone on their new position.
- Must be in contact with the Learning Manager to organise events, contests, or even courses (e.g. modding).

So, if anyone is interested and have the time, you know what to do: Send me a PM or reply here!

So as to include something different, this time we will include a modmap: The Maze, in the SWBF Days Event (SWBF1)
You can download the map here: http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=9

Remember that to install it all you gotta do is open the game folder and look for GameData, open it, and go to AddOn.
There u must unzip the folder.  It should be similar to the following:

The map rotation will be the following: Mos Eisley GCW, Cloudy City CW, The Maze GCW, Platforms CW & A map which you can suggest!

Can't unzip the folder ? Try installing WinRAR: https://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0

If anyone has questions, post them here or send me a PM!

SWBF1 Modding / Re: SWBFGamers Christmas Modding Contest 2017
« on: December 04, 2017, 05:29:54 PM »

forgive me if its a stupid question.

what if you upload it somwhere else like media fire of MEGA?
could you still enter it or does it have to be here?
you would have a post leading to it ovbiosly.

so is this 64MB just for SWBFGamers or is this litterly a rule for this compition?

I plan on making somthing to enter... like I did on Halloween.

well best of luck to you modders and you better work hard!... or santa won't get you anything... not even coal... I'd like some coal for Christmas.
Than i could burn it and stay nice and warm hyggeligt.
I would like mods to be uploaded here --> "Star Wars Battlefront Maps" or "Star Wars Battlefront Mods". If we have enough xmas/winter-related mods I will create a new Category and move them there.

Whenever files are uploaded let me know...  I check the downloads daily to see if any file has to be approved, but I'd rather be told in case I forget to check them.
