Microsoft are certainly taking an interesting route recently. Assuming they make the games exclusive for Bethesda and Activision, I can't see how they'll ever make the money back with the reduced sales.
I know some people find it easier to follow a video so I made this quickly to show how to apply the SWBFspy patch to steam and keep steam multiplayer. I hope it's clear enough, I just did it quickly from memory, ;)

Merry Christmas everyone.

We need to get swbfgamers more active again, I miss having new threads everyday.
I think the autoinstaller was designed for steam so you'll probably have to install it manually from the other download (it's pretty simple).

If you don't know the steam and gog versions (and I assume origin) have restored multiplayer. It's not perfect but there are players on it again.
I have the best of PC version and it works without the disk but I also have the swbfspy patch (replacement multiplayer) installed and I can't remember if it worked before that. I think it did if you launch from the game folder not main menu.

Either way it's easy enough to get it working without the cd/dvd.
It depends if you want to use your own pc or rent from somewhere like NFO for a more stable (but expensive) server.

There's plenty of guides on the actual set up. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2086127943
This is a great map, I enjoy this sort of level where you have to fight from one end to the other and the increasing challenge as it gets more enclosed is just right. The rearguard giving a story element is a nice touch.

Welcome to the site.  :tu:
Assuming you're talking about bf1; if you're using the original CD with the swbfspy patch there's players on a Monday evening who play together. If you get the steam version there's a few players every evening and 10+ on weekends.

Hope to see you in game.

I should be able to give you access to the EU machine soon, @gdh -- I've been quite busy with all the changes IRL that didn't even allow me to play during the past 2 weeks.
DM me on discord when you're around so that we can configure the account and everything

Thanks Anyder, I keep forgetting to message you but I'll try to do it when I see you online. 🙂
It's a good server, if a little long on some of the less popular maps, and very stable. It's hosted by Malte who is in game sometimes and it's definitely appreciated.

It's nice to see a lot of new players recently and as Skinny says it's got players every evening and there's often 15 or so at weekends.

Good to see you back. Steam restored the multiplayer if you didn't know. When it goes on sale in May the player numbers spike but now it's back to down to 6-12 players in one server when I've been playing around 7pm UK time weekdays.

I've split this into a new thread by the way.

This is a fun map, some nice features with the jet fighters, zombies and robot bartenders and it was nice seeing all the old photos.
Good to see you here. Hopefully with the sales at the moment we'll get a few more players, the 1000 ticket server seems to have active players every day on steam. I also play every Saturday at 6gmt on swbfspy which is good fun (anyone is welcome to join).

Welcome to the site. A few of us also play Saturdays at 6pm gmt (1est) on European servers on swbfspy. The good news is that swbfgamers always has servers online so if you want to organise a group of players you can just hop on those. You don't have to worry about hosting unless you want something specific.

Steam has players on most evenings (UK time) and often on Saturdays but unfortunately it's mostly private games with passwords and although you can get 10-20 players, they're spread out.

To be fair EA have sorted themselves out recently with fallen order and squadrons but if they're going to give the rights to whichever studio will do the best job that's even better. I've got my fingers crossed for Obsidian.
