How to add jetpacks to any Unit?

Hi, I want to give some units jetpacks and I used addon meshs but when I jump the jetpack disappears. So I tried 3 things. At first I tried to use softimage but I don't understand anything and I can't find tutorials that are understandable for me. I tried hexediting. I used a tutorial from Devis on gametoast. I tried this 5 times but i didn't work. And the last thing I did I made an effect with the jetpack mesh but it looks very glitched and it's not satisfying. Can someone help me?
