I tried to install the new executable for SWBFSpy, but I get an error about a missing blinkw32.dll file.  Also, I tried the auto-install method, but for that, I get an error message that the Shader Patch Installer has stopped working.  Any ideas regarding those messages?

I found some info on an earlier page, and I tried it.  Below is the info that I found.

Quote from: William on September 24, 2017, 09:48:36 PMIf you get an error for something similar to "The program can't start because binkw32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem." then you need to make a shortcut for the executable and run that instead.

Doing the above for the SWBFSpy Install.exe file got me further; however, now I get an error message that access to the Battlefront.exe.backup file was denied.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for sharing, Verranicus.   :)

Also, Happy New Year, everybody!

What do you give a wookie for Christmas if he already has a comb?  Thatʼs from a song that I heard a long time ago.  Although I have yet to be able to successfully mod my own map, I appreciate people sharing their mods and their insights regarding modding.  This is a screen shot featuring a wookie, a recon droid, and some trees that look like Christmas trees on the Naboo CIty map.  Merry Christmas, everybody.

I created a new world and copied the relevant files for the Mos Eisley map, following the instructions at http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=3544.0.  Inside the rep_weap_inf_remotedroid_ord.odf file, I changed the value of SetAltitude to 10.  After I cleaned and munged, there werenʼt any droids on the map, and the clones spawned at the bases where the droids spawn at the beginning of a game.  Also, the altitude of the recon droids that I deployed from clone sharpshooters seemed to be the same as before I made the change to SetAltitude.  I then tried changing the value of SetAltitude to 20.  After cleaning and munging, there again appeared to be no difference in altitude.

Inside the rep_weap_inf_remotedroid_ord.odf file, the variable SetAltitude has a value of 1.75.  I might try changing the value of that to 10 before I try making changes that involve including variables and values found in the rep_fly_gunship.odf file.  Also, I will first need to read through modding instructions in order to know how to incorporate a modded character class on a map.

Thank you, Giftheck.  I plan to keep that in mind.

Thanks, Ty294.  I hope to give it a try over Thanksgiving weekend.

Hi, everyone.

For recon droids, can the movement method be changed from the default movement method to that of flyer like clone gunships?

Sincerely,

John

A friend of mine bought a new computer to replace the broken computer on which he had played Star Wars Battlefront 1 with either a CD or DVD version of the game. His new computer lacks an internal DVD drive.  I have a computer with an internal DVD drive with which I have played SWBF1 with him in the past, using the local-area-network (LAN) mode in conjunction with a virtual private network (VPN).  If he buys SWBF1 at the Steam website, will he be able to use that version to play with me via the LAN mode in conjunction with a VPN?

Next, in ZeroEdit, I tried to change a landspeeder into an X-wing and an X-wing into a landspeeder.  I tried to do so by switching the attributes of a landspeeder to those of an X-wing and by switching the attributes of an X-wing to those of a landspeeder.  In the game, the vehicles remained how they were before I attempted to make the changes.

Regarding the attribute changes, on the left side of the ZeroEdit screen, I changed the value for Name.  On the right side of the ZeroEdit screen, I changed the values for ClassAllATK, ClassCISATK, ClassImpATK, and ClassRepATK.

I removed an X-wing and two landspeeders successfully.  After I removed the X-wing and landspeeders in ZeroEdit, I double-clicked the "clean.bat" file.  After that, I double-clicked the "munge.bat" file.  When I tested the new map in the game, the X-wing and both of the landspeeders were absent.

Then, using a backup copy of the folder for the Dune Sea map, I again used ZeroEdit to remove an X-wing and two landspeeders.  I then double-clicked the "munge.bat" file, and after that, I double-clicked the "64bitMunge.bat" file.  When I again tested the new map in the game, the X-wing and both of the landspeeders were absent again.

I first tried using the "munge.bat" file because it had a newer modification date and time than did the "64bitMunge.bat" file.  I then tried the "64bitMunge.bat" file to see whether that would work as well, in case using that file might have been the source of the problem before.  I didnʼt try the "Win7Munge.bat" file and the "Win8Munge.bat" file because they seem to be duplicates of the "64bitMunge.bat" file.

While I am unable to change an X-wing to a Y-wing and unable to add a Y-wing, both the "munge.bat" file and the "64bitMunge.bat" file produced new maps with the X-wing and the two landspeeders removed.

When I have an opportunity, I plan to try removing an X-wing and some landspeeders.

Thatʼs okay, Dark_Phantom, and thank you.  I plan to continue the trial and error as ideas come to mind.  I had tried deleting an X-wing, and I think that I tried cleaning and munging with different batch files than the ones that I had been using, and it seemed that a map with a missing X-wing loaded; however, I recognize that it is possible that a non-player character might have flown off with an X-wing before I looked at the flyer spawn area of the map that displays behind the character-selection menu.  Maybe I will try deleting more vehicles and try cleaning and munging with every batch file that I can find in the subfolders for the new map.
