Since JK made his rep sides skin I'm assuming others have came along and done the same.  So what good skins are out there for battlefront?

December 03, 2014, 04:14:04 AM
Hi all, I got a message from Led about the last blast over xmas and I thought "hell yeas" that sound like fun.  It's been a while since I had SWBF installed so I'll fish it out and get it back on.

I hope everyone is doing well.  So, who's still around?

SWBF 1 and 2 Tournaments / thisiswar league
June 16, 2009, 11:39:23 PM
hi all, been crazy busy and not had much time to do the forum thing!  I also don't know how active i'm gonna be but I thought I'd let you know that if you want to continue with the league I can update the scores for you each week.  As you can see i've been struggling finding time to film the draws for myself so I've been using a randomiser to do the picking of teams and maps.  If you want to play someone will need to coordinate (do the draws and post score sheets and just generally organise things).

Let me know if you want to start a new season.  Also let me know of any rule changes/scoring changes etc you wanna see...

I'll be back as often as possible but if you need me PM me on the thisiswar site.

Released Maps and Mods / Mos Eisley: Utter Chaos
April 23, 2009, 12:27:24 PM

Edited by buckler:  Link is broken, if anyone has these files, please let me know and we can put them up here.

Made that map with Ryanoceros sides!

You can get it in the downloads section of the thisiswar site

http://www.thisiswar.co.uk/download.php?list.2

Changed it a bit from the regular Mos Eisley, I think it looks quite good...a lot darker too!

Happy hunting!

Hi all, this game will be the last of the season and then we'll review the scoring system and give the map pool a complete overhall! I'll be updating the scores in the table sometime this afternoon and I'll post again when it has been done!

As most of you know I added Ryanoceros All Troops Fly mod sides to a Mos Eisley map.  The_Pi has told you how to do it. And i said I'd make a step by step example...so here it is.  I will be assuming you know what stuff like bfbuilder is and are familiar with the basics of it!

1. The first thing you're gonna have to do is make a new project in BFBuilder pro (project - new project)

For the one I made with Ryanoceros sides I called it MOS EISLEY: UTTER CHAOS (I always make the titles capitals to fit in with the shipped maps) and gave it the Mod Id of: utc1.  I created this for both CW and GCW.  Click on create new world and make all the necessary directories.

2. This bit is pretty much just a copy and pasting exercise!  Navigate to \BFBuilder\Assets\Shipped Worlds\Tatooine. You will see tat1 and tat2 files, Mos Eisley is all the tat2 ones. But for ease just select everything and copy them (don't cut, just copy).  The next thing to do is navigate to the modid folder that was created in step 1 (in this example Datautc1) - \BFBuilder\Datautc1\Worlds\utc1 to be exact.  You'll notice pretty much the same structure as in the Tatooine folder a min ago. Go ahead and paste everything in there!

3. Those files you just pasted will probably be all 'read only' which we need to change.  I just jump up a folder to \BFBuilder\Datautc1\Worlds right click on the utc1 folder and uncheck the read only box. (I use a PC but I'm sure you will know how to change this on a mac). OK, head back to the folder you were in a min ago - \BFBuilder\Datautc1\Worlds\utc1

4. We need to change a few names here.  In that folder you will see a file called utc1.req go ahead and delete it (while you are at it you can delete the tat1 files in there too and the world1 folder to boot).  BFbuilder will be looking for that utc1.req file so rename the tat2.req file to become the new utc1.req.  All the files associated with the map are in the world2 folder so we need to rename that folder to become world1. If you were to munge at this point you'd get pretty much the Mos Eisley map that comes with the game.

5. We are going to be using the .lvl files that Ryanoceros created instead of the normal sides so the next thing we need to do is edit the mission LUA. In BFbuilder pro click on Edit. We will need to edit both the GCW Mission LUA and the CW Mission LUA. Click on the GCW one first.  The bit we will be changing is the -- Start sidelvls section.  We need to tell the map to use the files we will be using instead of the shipped ones. Look for "SIDE\\all.lvl" and change to "dc:SIDE\\all.lvl" do the same with "SIDE\\imp.lvl". Save and close!

6. Repeat step 5 for CW Mission LUA and change "SIDE\\cis.lvl" and "SIDE\\rep.lvl" to "dc:SIDE\\cis.lvl" and "dc:SIDE\\rep.lvl" respectively. Save and close.  All we are basically doing here is telling the map to use the sides we will be adding instead of the shipped ones.

7. Clean and Munge (I know you don't really need to clean this time but its good practice to always clean first!)

We now have a Mos Eisley map but we have still to add the sides. Again it's just a bit of copy and paste!

8. In \BFBuilder\AddOn you should see the munged map (utc1).  Go into that folder all the way to here: \BFBuilder\AddOn\utc1\Data\_lvl_pc.  You will see 4 folders and 2 files. Create another folder called 'Side'. Once that is done all we need to do is copy the .lvl files Ryanoceros made into that folder, not all the .lvl files just the 4 we need - all.lvl, imp.lvl, rep.lvl & cis.lvl!

9. This will play fine in single player. To make it playable online we want to add a text file called mapinfo.txt in the utc1 folder with the following lines:

GCW,MOS EISLEY: UTTER CHAOS GCW,utc1a,alliance,imperial,200,200
CW,MOS EISLEY: UTTER CHAOS CW,utc1c,CIS,republic,200,200

It is that easy! Takes just about the same amount of time to read as it does to do!

SWBF 1 and 2 Tournaments / League Scoring
April 07, 2009, 05:55:56 AM
The_Pi mentioned that he was not sure if he fully understood the scoring system for the league matches/table.  I thought I'd post a thread to try and clarify what happens as I feel it is important for you guys to know how things work.  I have taken The_Pi's full scores (he has played 2 matches, 8 games in total) and I will use those scores to try and illustrate what is going on.

As you can see from above under the 'MATCH SCORES' heading there are all the scores from the games Pi has played. Let's look at round 1 and how the score is worked out:

the equation is easy: (kills - deaths) + (2x CPs) + BONUS = SCORE

so in Round 1:
(15 - 14) + (2 x 5) + 10 = Score
1      +     10   + 10 = 21

In the first round Pi (first round for the_pi was Match 2) got a bonus of 10 because he won the round but won no awards.

Lets look at his round 2 score:
(kills - deaths) + (2x CPs) + BONUS = SCORE
    (20 - 10)    +   (2x 6)  +    5
        10         +     12     +    5     =   27

looking at the score sheets for that match we can see that he lost the round but was awarded Survivalist hence the 5 bonus points.

Take a look at the scoring system ( http://www.thisiswar.co.uk/plugins/foru ... c.php?1607 ) for a list of the points involved in the bonus'.

Once all the scores have been calculated (easy for me cos the spreadsheet does all the math for me) for the match, the top 2 scores get taken over for the league table calculations. look at the 'TOP 2 ROUNDS SCORES' table now. You can see that the top 2 scores from both matches he has played has been taken over. The next bit is just simple averages.  For example his average kills are 19, calculated by adding all his kills up, in this case 15+20+29+12=76 and dividing by 4 (the number of scoring rounds he has played) to give us 19. This is done with deaths, CP's, Bonus and the Score to give us the numbers that appear in the league table!

Hope that clears things up a little for anyone that wasn't sure!

The sign up thread for next weeks match has been posted!

The map pool changes have been posted in the map pool announcement thread. ( http://www.thisiswar.co.uk/plugins/foru ... c.php?1605 )
The discussion is still ongoing so any more suggestions etc are more than welcome!

The sign up thread for next weeks match has been posted!

The current map pool discussion will continue till next Sunday then a decision will be made...so have you're say!

The_Pi had to pull out last min and thankfully MacG stepped up to host! It is important to let us know if you can host when signing up, in case this sort of thing happens again!  Also I see a pile of extra players, which is great numbers wise but randoms vastly effect the scoring (always to you're detriment).  Have a look at the score sheets for the last match and see how it effects things! It is hard to determine any meaningful quantification or trends in the scores when random players come and go.  The league format and scoring is set up so that if players miss games the only forfeit is that the other players have a chance to get higher scores (part of the reason why there are bots) as the match may be quieter!

We still need to tighten up the entry to the match. Again latecomers are welcome but the need to:

1. be registered here, and at thisiswar (and understand how things work).
2. 'check in' first via the thisiswar forum by posting in the match thread before the game.
3. confirm in the lobby what team they are in (join whatever team has the lesser players otherwise Team A).

I think for this coming game the server should be passworded. If the host lets me know what the password is I can put it on the TiW site so that only registered league players can see it. Alternatively I can PM it to all the league players.

Is everyone ok with this or do you guys prefer a free for all?

SWBF 1 and 2 Tournaments / what tournaments?
March 23, 2009, 03:31:29 PM
what tournaments/leagues do you guys participate in as clans?

The sign up thread for next weeks match has been posted!

there has also been a little rule addition:

QuoteChanging teams is the responsibility of the individual! If you do not switch teams, play in the opposing team and win you will not gain the 10 points for that win! Conversely if you forget to switch teams and your original team wins you will still not gain the points for the win!

Anyone willing to host this week? Zorba, you still up for doing the draw?

I think we'll also need to tighten up the entry to the match.  Latecomers are welcome but the need to:
1. be registered here, and at thisiswar (and understand how things work).
2. 'check in' first via the thisiswar forum by posting in the match thread before the game.
3. confirm in the lobby what team they are in (join whatever team has the lesser players otherwise Team A).

SWBF1 Modding / Freecam
March 18, 2009, 09:00:29 AM
I have Battlebelks freecam but that is only any good if someone is a cameraman!

Is there anyway that the computer can save all the data to an from the server and replay it?  In BF2 the battlecam does exactly that...it saves all the data from the game (its only just data after all) and uses the game engine to replay the game.  What's the chance of something like that being developed for SWBF?

The Sign up thread is up for you guys to sign up for next weeks match!  The deadline is Thursday (I'll close the thread on Friday).  Remember that if you are one of the first three sign ups you can pick a map to be included in the draw, and this choice rolls down hill if someone above you in the thread hasn't chosen one!  The rules etc are all there on the site should you want/need to read them!

There is also a map pool thread there to discuss what maps we want to be included in the draws...please have your say!

Zorba: you still up for tarting up the draw?

If you are new to the ThisisWar site I will need to set the permissions for you so that you can post in the MPC league section of the forum.  Please post here if that is the case and Ive not given you access yet!  Master Zen you're good to go!

Anyways here's the sign up thread again:  //http://www.thisiswar.co.uk/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?1653

A Teamspeak server has been arranged for the match. The details can be found in the Teamspeak Menu on the thisiswar site!  I have not registered anyone as it is only available to us for 24hrs.
I will be posting the sign up thread for next weeks match before the match starts.  I guess we'll make it same time next Sunday!  If you are signing up please post if you can host and remember that the first 3 sign ups can pick a map to be added to the pool (pick from shipped maps until we have a discussion about what maps we should use).  If one of the first 3 don't pick a map the choice rolls down hill to the 4th sign up etc...

The_pi: please post details of DC host on both forums as soon as you can (in the thread of the same title). You should host with 8 AI per team and set the min players to start to 6 (2 below the actual players).  Let us know asap if you can't host!

Any probs or questions post here and I'll reply as soon as I can!

I read this today:

The troubled development of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 has taken another interesting twist. After jumping from the sinking ship Free Radical to Rebellion, who are currently hard at work on Aliens vs. Predator 3, it has now been handed back into the hands of the developer of the first two installments – Pandemic.
( http://darkzero.co.uk/game-news/star-wa ... rebellion/ )

Anyone else heard this? Can anyone confirm?

Anyone interested in joining a DC league the same as the one I got just now as the_pi has just given me the key to displaying more than one draw (and managed to make me feel a bit stoopid at the same time)?

This will be a weekly thing same time every week (just need to sort a host for each match).  You guys do the draw, pick your own scoring system and own map pool and fight it out for the top pos!

Has anyone ever had the problem of the spawn counter restarting? My brother in law is having a lot of problems with gerky play and freezing when online, I know its not his system or his graphics card!  It must a connection issue??

when he respawns the counter counts down and then restarts the count again, sometimes a few times before he spawns, any idea?
