New Member - Playing BF2 classic on PC with disc

Hello

I was very happy to find this website. Im currently playing the 2005 classic SWBF2 on PC (via disc, not steam) and play the game through program files folder. I've downloaded the patches to allow online multiplayer games and now have access to join games    but haven't found many people to play with yet.
What is some advice to maximise the number of people I can play with?
Also what are some cool/necessary mods/maps to get, and where can i find them?

Definitely get HarrisonFog's HD maps/units

You may also want to get the official 1.1 patch and the unofficial 1.2 (or 1.3?) patch after that. All of this is available on ModDB.

I think it's unofficial 1.3 patch, though I haven't play in a while so I'm not sure.
