Different players like to player different versions of the game--and that is fine.

For example, SWBF2 players think we are crazy for playing SWBF the original.

It's all good.

I'm guessing that 1.4 GB of mod could be compressed into around 600-800 MB. Is 600-800 too big?

mmm, not sure

Nice.  If it is too big for the SWBFgamers default system, I can give you an FTP account.

I sure what ever is was compiled with has a (pseudo) random number generator.  SWBF would have to have something, since there are probabilities everywhere in the AI programming (when to drop ammo, how accurate to shoot, etc.)

/randomize sets random maps from the list, instead of a sequential map list

Are you hosting with your game disk?  If so, be sure to set speed for your online hosting options appropriately.
If you are using the dedicated server software, be sure that the maximum bandwidth is set appropriately.

visit www.speedtest.net
to get an idea of what your UPLOAD speed is.  UPLOAD speed is the limiting factor for hosting, and is usually not as good as your DOWNLOAD speed.

My rule of thumb is you can get about 10 players for every 2 Mbps of upload speed, before high pings become a problem.

Finally, lag can become a problem if your computer CPU is overloaded.  Are playing on the same PC?  Have you stopped un-needed processes?

Is this still happening?

We need to re-work the bracket to account for teams that cant play.

-Bam and Scrap, please try to set up a match with Crusader
-Sleepkiller and Snippers, if snake is gone, please help find a sun (festus?) and play your match
-Zombie, please try to play your next match

yes--and you can see which ones are for what version or dediserver only by examining the executable file for the respective version

There are many un-intended things in SWBF.  Some people even consider mine tossing to be a glitch/cheat/un-intended feature.

It is part of the charm of the game.

Whether these things are allowed in any specific game depends on the rules set up by the host and players of the game.  To argue in general terms about what is or is not cheating is pointless and needlessly argumentative.

Zombie and Wulfman--please refrain from insults

I have the Nerf stuff somewhere around my hard-drive, I'll do some looking around and then do a temp upload so you guys can put them on here, unless I get rights to post files <hint hint> lol

And for those interested but don't know what mod I'm talking about, here's the link

he can use his same key code--he just needs to look in his registry for it, and copy it down before the new install

Well, I don't think that a patch would be made for SWBF, but I can't say for certain.

No offence to what your doing jdee-barc but modifying the exe is against the EULA that comes with the modtools which makes it illegal to do. I would strongly advise against it.

OK, there is a fine point that I need to make, and some other general comments.

A violation of a EULA is a violation of the EULA.

Whether it is illegal or not is determined by a court of law, not by writers of the EULA or the readers of the EULA.

As the owner of this website, I can not allow anything illegal on this website.  Since I am not a lawyer, I would probably go with a conservative assessment, and say that I would not host any file that violated the EULA.  I would also not want any discussions about methods to circumvent copy protection of the game (i.e. how to make the no cd-crack).

Finally, what goes on at GameToast is their business.  They have a huge modder's base, and are a great resource.  SWBFgamers can not compete with that.  I see our niche as being a place for *both* gamers and modders of SWBF.

I also can see that they have a very rigid set of rules about posting in old topics and such.  By experience, they must have learned that approach suits their needs.  On SWBFgamers, I don't think we need to take such a rigid approach about posting in old topics.  Just keep the new post relevant to the old topic.

Wulfman:  if you want to discuss SWBF2, we have a forum for that (for now).
to all:  look at napseekers mods, I am pretty sure I recall that he had an extra unit (single player only though)
modtester:  yes, I think that modding the sptest.exe is strictly speaking a violation of the EULA (it does say ANY exe file)
modtester:  yes, I agree that I don't think LA cares at this point
me:  it doesn't matter if they don't care, I can't take the risk of hosting any file that violates the EULA--although they probably can't find you, they can find me
