This is absolutely fascinating!
I'd absolutely love to play those prototype map builds. Naboo and Geonosis particularly intrigue me.

I could be wrong but I believe you can turn off awards in the fake console? (Fake console is installed with the 1.3 mod patch)

I play SWBFI on my Mac through this old but reliable port. See my video I made some years back with install instructions and links.
https://youtu.be/Tbh_Zi_DZAA
The port works wonderfully and I'm able to connect to SWBFSpy servers just fine. I haven't played it beyond 10.13 so I can't speak to issues on newer Mac OS.

If you're curious there's a similar video I made on installing SWBFII on Mac that also works great but you can't play online anymore with the new Steam/GOG servers, so single player only. https://youtu.be/JMZLWiEN9F8

Has anyone ever actually found Sereja's hidden profile picture on any of his maps?
(According to his map readme's his picture is hidden as an easter egg)
I have played them so many times but I've never come across it...

I tried to PM you but I was blocked... :xmastim:

Ok thanks for the advice Dark Phantom. Glad to hear there aren't any issues with SWBF and the mod tools on Windows 10.
And I'm able to play those remastered mods now on my Mac port so I'm sure the stuff you recommended will work fine for me as well.

General / Advice for buying a laptop to mod SWBF
June 04, 2020, 12:01:44 PM
Hey everyone!
With EA SWBF2 ending support and the game being left in an "eh" state (and with no EA SWBF3 on the horizon) I've decided to pursue my dream hobby of modding SWBF1 to my hearts content. The problem is, I don't know where to begin.
First things first, I need to purchase a PC laptop to mod SWBF on but I'm not sure which to get or if the mod tools software will run on a semi-recent laptop.
I also want a laptop that is good enough to run SWBF2 using all of those fancy remastered mods, and to play both games online using the GOG servers they recently brought back.

Do any of you have any suggestions as to what OS I should pursue and what brand/model of laptop would be good?

I'm trying to keep the price range at max $400, preferably lower. I don't mind it being a 10 year old laptop as I won't be playing anything new on it. Only the old Star Wars games of the glory days.

Any help is much appreciated!

I've been playing for a long, long time. Well not as long as some other people on here but for some time. I played it at friends houses when it first came out, then in I think 2010 I got my own copy of both games. Been playing it on and off ever since! The underlying map design and AI behavior is what keeps me coming back to these games. Every time you feel like you are a soldier on the battlefront!

Sereja, this is amazing! You once again nailed it! It feels exactly like the RC video game. Props to you man, your maps always brighten my day!

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd make a little anniversary post for the great Star Wars Battlefront (2004) that started it all.

Despite not being as active here as in the past I still play the Battlefront games all the time. I mostly play EA Battlefront 2 on Xbox now with my brother (if you play on the West Coast servers you'll see me a lot in Capital Supremacy under the good ol' gamertag, kitfisto15678).

Seeing all the 15 year anniversary posts, sales etc. on the internet made me think of this grand old forum and all the great years and countless hours I spent playing the original (still my favorite of all the games in the franchise) and exploring all the mods and how happy I am there is still a space for people who are newly discovering the long lasting joy that SWBFI gives and a wonderful archive of all the amazing mods and modding guides.

Big thank you to everyone here who still keeps things running!

What are all some of your greatest memories of Star Wars Battlefront (2004) and do you still play the old games? The new games? Are they with the same people as 15 years ago?

Sorry I'm not windows savvy, how would I check/resolve a "bottleneck/leak"?

I get an extraction error. Did anyone else get this? I'm expanding with unarchiver.

Apologies, I forgot to post my results on that. Sorry!

For SWBFI the CPU is under 10%, the Memory is around 20%, and the GPU is under 10%.
For SWBFII the CPU is under 10%, the Memory is around 20%, and the GPU is under 20%.

Additionally something strange happened when I was messing around with it more last night. I updated the drivers, reset the computer, then launched SWBFI and it ran perfectly fine. I decided to test SWBFII and then it lagged out again. Went back to SWBFI and that was lagging as well.

SWBFII on GOG does the same thing. It doesn't matter if he's running it alone or not for either one. I recall finding a fix by editing something in his graphics settings for his computer but I can't remember what I did now. He must have updated his graphics or something...

Edit: This is what is on the GOG page for SWBFII and I recall this being the issue with SWBFII.

"AMD compatibility notice: Star Wars: Battlefront II does not support AMD Crimson Edition drivers 15.12 or newer, and requires version 15.11 (stable version) or older drivers." https://www.gog.com/game/star_wars_battlefront_ii

The question is, do you think that is what needs to be done to fix SWBFI? And does anyone remember how to downgrade the driver or whatever? I don't remember what I did initially.

Singleplayer. Although he has the SWBF Spy .exe installed and that's what we're launching the game with.
