Unfortunately that was some sad news to read, after not being here in a while.

Luckily, it seems archive.org managed to generate several snapshots of Alpha's website over the years. Even our public screenshots were saved!

If anyone remembers the URL's to other clan sites or noteworthy SWBF domains, please take a look for them on archive.org and share! It would be lovely if we could document some of these.

This sounds like the work of SWBFGamers very own "he who shall not be named."

If you have access, you might want to post the bad usernames in the appropriate topic here... Just a suggestion. I don't know if it's him or not but better safe than sorry?

Would you look at that, the 16 year old game, occupying the world of our niche little community, got some time in the spotlight on the popular gaming-related YouTube channel, Oddheader.

10 Craziest Out of Bounds Discoveries in Games - Part V

At 4:53 in the video, Oddheader discusses Battlefront's Jabba's Palace map, and more specifically some of the things you can find out of bounds. Oddheader says these discoveries were made just now, for the first time in 16 years, which I'm sure the lot of us would find hard to believe.

There was a REALLY good player back in the day. I wish I remembered his name. But he always trashtalked me and someone else whenever either one of us were in the PLA server.

And I think at one point things got a bit heated and I responded. I can't remember how I responded, I don't know if I said anything bad.

But minutes later he said something along the lines of "Hey don't take everything I say personally. I just like to have fun and trash talk and I don't mean any of those things I say. I'll stop now"

And I didn't really believe him. Mostly because he went straight back to trashtalking the next day lmao.

But every now and then I still think about it. And I realize I never really understood trashtalking until way way later when I got into playing and watching competitive Overwatch. And I think I understand now that people like him want to bring out the best in you. And they're willing to put their ego on the line in front of you and everyone else to prove who the best players are. And it makes me sad that I didn't think of that earlier, but I was young and barely into college at that time.

Now I'm not saying that all people that trashtalk just do it to banter. Some people are just jerks simple as that. But I think that one player I'm talking about is probably just a really good and competitive player, and I just simply couldn't understand that competitiveness at that time. I hope he's doing good now and is trashtalking to his hearts content. He really was a good player

There were a few people I remember as good and toxic (but not in a bad way). Do you remember the name Drugrep at all?

Welcome Center / Re: Hello There

Hey Darth Solem, welcome to SWBFGamers!

Just to make sure, are you noticing that there are servers online, and they're empty? Or are you not noticing servers at all?

Player counts are unfortunately going to be down. After all, this game is almost 16 years old, and the original server system got shut down years ago.

People are always online more frequently in the afternoons (in the US) and weekends.

Had a chance to get warmed up again today (it's been years since I last played) and I feel good! These new kids can't handle the old blood! ;)

Already signed up for the Leaderboards, but good luck to all my fellow participants!

I'll start -

I remember being quite the immature little punk back in the day. Some of it embarrasses me to think about. I was the kid always begging for LED to let me into {PLA} (And to no avail).

There's one time in particular where {Alpha} was in a funwar with [FC]. At the time, FC had a member named Kishan. To my little brain, I thought he was always super toxic. One day I rolled over to the FC Guestbook and shared way too much info and begged for Kishan to be kicked from their clan. Yet for whatever reason, I made it even worse by deciding to color each paragraph a different color of the rainbow. I definetely made a complete mockery of myself on that day, and I'm so surprised I managed to actually got accepted into FC years later.

That was probably in 2010 or 2011. What a funky time for me.

General / Memories on the Battlefront

Hi all,

Star Wars Battlefront is coming close to it's 16th birthday (September 21, 2004). While many of us old nerds certainly have the game beat on age, we're still sticking around after all these years. Why are we here? Why can't we just move on? Let's find out.

Got any great memories from your time playing Battlefront I, or II? Any juicy stories of player interactions or clan wars?

Please, feel free to share it with us here. Let us all reminisce about the days of old!

There's a Discord for SWBFSpy, but not one for these forums, afaik.

Thanks for the tip!

I am using wifi at the moment, but that's not given a problem in the past. I speedtest myself almost weekly just to make sure my ISP isn't trying to cut service/throttle us (they have before, jerks...) but nothing has changed with speeds in a long time.

I'm definitely lagging a bit, but it's not as noticable on American servers for me. It really stands out on foreign servers, where I can't move at all.

I've just started playing SWBF again in the last few days, and I'm already having problems with connection lag/high ping that I've not experienced before. I don't think I've actually played the game since the new master server came up, so I need to determine if this is just an issue that I can somehow resolve on my end, or if this is general to any of the users.

I'm connecting from the US, so I don't normally have problems with servers in my own country. However, when connecting to any of the US servers, for example, Cloud City Chicago, I'm getting between 70 to 90 ping at all times, which is noticably high and hard to play on. I've also tried connecting to foreign servers to me, such as an AR server, and getting upwards of 150 ping.

Does anybody know of some tricks I could try, on my end, to help these numbers? Obviously the lower the ping, the better.
Or is this just something completely out of my control?
