Hello SWBFGamers!

Let me present you the SWBFSpy Community Tournament I've been trying to organise for some months, the Digital Era Tournament (DET).

I've been looking for some people to help me out organising the tournament, and I've decided to host it as the Community Ambassador. SWBFSpy Engagement has always looked for ways to boost activity ingame, and we hope that this gets SWBF1 as active as it used to be. All the information about the tournament will be listed here, just like the staff. You will find it similar to ICW, but since we were not allowed to use this name, we've decided to change it to a different one.
Important news/changes will be listed in red.

Tournament Staff:

Admins:
1. Anyder (Community Ambassador)
2. Drunken Master (SWBFSpy Engagement)
3. -

Match Moderators:
1. Dark_Phantom
2. -
3. -

Staff wanted

You'll need SWBFSpy to play this tournament. Here you have the link to the files exe or Auto-Installer

Starting info:

Matches will need to be posted on July 5th. The first set of matches will start on July 7th 2017.

Tournament Related:

1. Once clans are finalized, a tournament map will be published. It will look something like this. Each clan will start off with 3 randomly assigned planets. After Week 1, planet ownership is based on battle outcomes from the previous week.

2. There will be 4 weeks (or more, depending on the activity and the amount of players). The winner is the team with the most planets at the end of Week 4. The nature of a tiebreaker will be determined if needed.

Rules:

Setting up matches:

1. Neither team (Attackers or Defenders) can be outnumbered by more then 2. Just before the match starts, a battle count will take place, and from that point the maximum number of players on each side is determined. Once the battle count has taken place, neither team may exceed that maximum.

2. Matches must start within 10 minutes of the announced start time. If clan A is responsible for a delay greater than 10 minutes, the moderators reserve the right to declare that clan A forfeits the battle. The moderators will use this power prudently.

3. A player may spectate a battle, but only upon the approval of one (or both) of the participating clans. In that case, the player must spawn on the side of an approving clan, wear a [Spec] tag, and hide in a pre-designated area during the battle (using freecam to watch).

Moreover, moderators reserve the right to prohibit spectators in a particular battle, if this would help alleviate lag due to a large amount of players in the server.

General Rules:

1. Matches begin with a countdown (e.g., "5, 4, ..., 1, go"). Only a moderator may countdown a battle. Before the countdown begins, players can wander around the map, as long as they obey rule 3  below while doing so. Once the countdown starts, all players must be very close to a green CP. How close is "close enough" shall be determined by the mods in-game, but the rule of thumb is "within the capture radius".

2. Do not suicide to change your class before the countdown; leave and rejoin the server.

3. Killing before the countdown ends, and capturing or partially capturing neutral or red CPs before the countdown ends, is prohibited.

4. Capturing CPs is permitted --> only after the countdown.

5. Killing mods or spectators is prohibited.

6. Which special units are allowed, if any, will depend on the map. When specials are allowed, it will be fairsides jet or fairsides wookie. When the map list is finalized, we will describe the setup for each map.

7. No vehicles are permitted.

8. Laying mines before the countdown has ended, that is, laying pre-mines, is prohibited.

9. Destroying health or ammo bots before the countdown has ended, is prohibited.

10. Spawn mines are permitted.

11. Teamkill is always off and all servers shall be /noaim.

12. Be polite in yellow chat -- no disrespecting at all.

13. No impersonating other players, including other members of your own clan.

14. All players must wear tags ingame. (including Mercenaries)

15. No playing for or spying on the opposing clan's side. Join your clan's side ASAP upon entering the server.

16. Radar is allowed.

Violation of these rules will result in an official warning by an in-game moderator; penalties will ensue at the admin's discretion.

It's up to the moderators whether they want to record the match, but the results must be recorded somehow (I'd recommend to use bandicam or FRAPS to take a screenshot). Anyone can post the screenshot of the final screen on the forums soon after a battle is finished.

At all times moderators have the right to ask everyone except designated players in the server to stop yellow-chatting.

Clan lists and mercenaries:

17. Each faction is required to maintain a public clan list in this thread throughout the tournament. Lists can be added to at any time, but never subtracted from once the tournament begins. The members of the list don't have to "be in" your clan according to your clan's internal member list, but they cannot appear on any other clan list at any time in the tournament.

From the perspective of DET admins, only one's membership on an official clan list is relevant for the clan/merc counting policy described in item 24 below. Other, "extra-DET" relationships are not relevant.

18. In a given battle, say involving clan A, players not on clan A's clan list may play for them. Such additional players are called mercenaries. The maximal number of mercenaries permitted in a match is 1/2 the number of clan-listed players, with rounding favoring additional mercs. E.g.,

Number of clan-listed players / maximal number of mercs
3/2
4/2
5/3
6/3
7/4
8/4
etc.

19. To be counted as a clan member, players must use a name identical to the one on the clan list. A single player may use different names, as long as those names appear on the (same) clan list. Mercenaries must wear a tag similar to: (Clan)(Merc)Name.

20. Name-faking is absolutely prohibited and, if confirmed, results in forfeit of the battle by the offending team, as well as a permanent ban of the offending player from DET. Admins will check IPs in situations of doubt.

Attacks:

21. Each week a thread will be made on Sunday or Monday where clans will make post attacks, negotiate times, post screenshots, etc. Battles should by default be scheduled for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Attacks absolutely must be posted by Wednesday at 11:59:59 PM EST.

22. Clans may only attack planets which are connected by a line (in the tournament map) to a planet they currently control.

23. Format your attacks thusly:

Attacking clan:
Defending clan:
Planet:
Date:
Time (EST):
Attacker era/side:
Server location:

24. In the beginning, each clan may make 2 attacks per week. We may raise the limit to 3 in later weeks, depending partially on admin availability and number of participating clans.

25. If a clan forfeits, their planets become native held, and attackers will face a team of natives. Anyone may show up as a native. However in this case the natives may be outnumbered by attackers arbitrarily. There is a limit of 2 members per clan list on the native side.

26. Clans can't make planet announcements before officially listing times, that is, call dibs, as before.

27.  If you are attacking a team that is primarily EU players you can not schedule a attack after 10 PM Berlin (4PM EST).

Maps:

To be picked...

A map pack will be made available for download sometime in the next 1.5 weeks. The "tournament map" indicating which clans start with which planets, planet connections, etc., will be posted in the Week 1 thread. That thread will appear on June 29th.

Finalizing Clans:

1. Clans will be finalized June 30th 2017

Special thanks to:
- Joseph, for creating the first ICW and coming up with the way of organising it and rules.
- Bomber, for organising the last ICWs.

So, no ICW7? Darn. This sounds fun, though. Will there be an equivalent to YAK?

Im not sure. No ICW was being organised and as ambassador I usually study the activity on both games swbfspy patches, and SWBF1 Needed a boost.
I hope there is, but u are to ask the YAK leader if he wants to join the tournament

Is there no recruitment by the YAK clan this year? I say this because there are players (like me) who want to participate and don't have a large number of members in their respective clans. Also, inside my clan I'm not the leader.

I already spoke to my leader of the AR clan and says that he's not interested. But you can count on me either as a clan member of a YAK-like clan or as a reinforcement of another clan.

You do not need to be more than 10. In fact I'll probably limit it to that so that we can have at least 4 participating teams. We're gonna need that minimum to run the tournament, cause otherwise it'll be pointless

I guess it's obvious. But also I meant that if for example: I want to participate, but my clan isn't going to do it, then I join a clan recruiting players to participate (as it has been the YAK case in the last ICW tournaments).

In the Clan Signup Thread I've seen that TheGangstarTY has joined Alpha, so I doubt this year YAK will participate. How can I and the other players participate then?

I don't know who the current leader is, but I think it was TheGangstarTY. I also don't know how it works YAK, I joined ICW6 knowing that it was a "special" clan for players that didn't have place in a clan.

I can't do that, I'm sorry. I'm not part of the YAK clan and also, as I have told Anyder before, I don't know his system as a clan.

What I know of YAK is that in several ICW editions I had exercised "friendly" clan of players who didn't have clan or if they were in a clan but their clans didn't participate. The problem now is that YAK isn't going to participate and I've to stay out of it. Since you proposed to me Led, I propose the following in three simple steps:

1) Create a kind of "public clan" (only 1) for players without clan or with.
2) Post a topic about recruiting players (how did YAK).
3) Post the list of all those players and you're done.

I think that with this you would save questions from players like me saying (Oh! What happened to YAK? And now how do I participate?) And it would quickly fix everything. If that's okay with you, I think this I could do it.  8)

YAK is not a clan.  It is just a collection of players that are not in clans participating in the tournament.  So, yes, you really can do it!   ;)

So, post your steps 1-3 and have a go at it.  It really isn't for me to lead people to entertainment.  However, I am happy to provide a place for it.

Then it is possible? Okay! :D

But if I do, it should be tomorrow because there isn't much time left...  :( If you could persuade Anyder to extend the Signup period it would be better. But don't worry, I can do it in a moment.

Yeah, no worries, let's extend it.

Done. We already have a new Clan-Group! ;)

Could you place the "IC Recruitment for the DET" link here in this topic? It will make it more visible if there are interested players.
