CFC = Carbon Freezing Chamber

Alternatively, Fang, if you could give some general directions on making the modification, it would be greatly appreciated!

I think Hardcore made a detailed listing of the items cut from SWBF as compared to the early pre-release version.  I am looking for the thread, and will edit my post if I can find it.

Requests / REQUEST: Cloudy City CFC spawn in court
September 09, 2010, 06:12:36 PM
Hi,

I've been getting tired of getting stuck in the CFC without a chance of a breakout.  Would anyone  (FANG :) ) be willing
to make a cloud city mod that is online compatible where the main CFC spawn is in the middle of the courtyard ?

Thanks,

Each SWBF community has its own ideas what make a good match, and to some extent they can evolve too.

The MPCgamers/MacXgamers community was my first experience with online SWBF play, and matches.  The style of play is carried over from the MacXgamers group, and SWBFmac before that.

Someone can feel free to correct me, but what I recall is:

-individual tournaments would always be done to maximize your score based on pre-determined point values for kills/deaths/cp captures

  • unless Bomb was hosting, then the point values and rules always seemed to change in a way that got him second place :)

-no cheating (with includes wallhacking/glitching) etc

-anything else goes in the individual tournament--spawn killing, tanking, and if it was advantageous, team killing, too I suppose--again, just try to maximize your points.  Tk was on, so that setting a spawn mine was a serious risk.

-the players would be gracious to the host, saying TFH (thanks for hosting)  It was not polite to complain about lag,
since there was nothing that could be done about it.

-the host would usually say TFJ (thanks for joining)

Note that the mac players never got the nice dedicated server software like the PCs did, so there was never
any knowledge of spawn protect (though I think they do have that option, it was just unknown). And, there is
no way to disable controller aim assist.

ESL has their own way of doing things, 1.0 clans had there own way, 1.2 clan their own way, etc.  So it important
for the players to shape thier game play to the community standards.  This last tournament had very few mac players,
so it would be hard for the PC players that had not been a part of this community to adpapt.  But it is still incumbent
on the player to learn the rules, in my opinion.

As for what happened to the server, I think that Jedikiller has a nice new ISP, but it is a little flakey.
Everyone lagged out the last time he hosted, too.  It may be somthing that comes up.  It is not easy to find a
good site to host a direct connection server.

As far as the map choice goes, the maps were made available at least a month before they were played in the tournament.Anyone that had a problem with them could have easily let jedikiller know, and I'm sure he would have picked a different one to accommodate a player.

Keep in mind that MPCgamers has its roots in the modding community, so a lot of the game play is focused on new and mod maps, even in tournaments.

Hi MPCers,

I was playing one of Napseekers mods, and some of his units were moving very quickly.

Is there a chance that this can be server-side modded, so that players can move quickly without
the need for a download?

We had as many as 12-14 players on.  I got tired about 10:30 pm central.   It probably broke up after that.

Thanks for stopping in!

Hi MPCgamers,

The Perfect Little Angles (PLA) would like to invite you to an Ord Mantell appreciation night
on Friday 7/2/10 at approximately 9:00 pm central US time.

Here is the map link:
http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/file/Ord_Mantell_No_Greater_Glory;42530

I will host it by Direct Connection.  We hope to get 20 or so players to explore the nice map.

IP =

Keep in mind that if you have ever played it, it can be laggy in grass areas, so keep your vid settings low.  If you have to leave due to lag, I understand :)

IP address to be released on Friday night.

SWBF1 Modding / Re: spawn delay
June 29, 2010, 07:27:35 PM
Well, this is what the manual says:

"Reinforcements are deployed accordinging to a reinforcement timer.  For single players games , there is no timer and you can deploy immediately after dying.  For multiplayer games, the reinforcement timer varies with the map.  The reinforcement timer counts down from ten to fifteen seconds; when it reaches zero, reinforcements are deployed for both teams.  In other words, if you die in a multiplayer game, you will have to wait between one to fifteen seconds before you redeploy at a friendly Command Post."

That said, I'm not sure that's how it really works  ;)

Well, try it without noframelock and see :)

I use fraps and have no trouble, though i do not use the noframelock command.

Fraps also has a lot of settings for resolution, you may also try to cut those down too.
