Title: GameRanger "Could not register as host" Star Wars Battlefront 2004 cd version
Post by: SolidSoul on June 30, 2020, 02:02:37 PM
I posted this as a comment on my last post, but It wasn't getting seen so I made this new topic.

Game ranger is saying "Host registration failed". Is this because I'm using the swbfspy patch? Is there a no cd patch that does not add the swbfspy servers, that I can use?

It is quite possible that is an issue if GR intercepts gamespy.com traffic.

You will have to use your original game disk and install  the game or else search the internet for what you seek.

Well GameRanger didn't work either. There is something about the linux computer that wont communicate with hosts in Starwars battlefront. Is there any other ways for direct or maybe peer to peer connections? what about making a proxy for the linux computer to connect to? There is also that thing called "ngrok" (localhost tunneling). I just want to be able to play with my cousin while he is gone. I don't need the servers, just a direct line to the linux laptop he will use.
