This is unexpected.  I am not sure what the cause of this is...I guess my lifetime membership was for Tunngle's life and not mine...

DarkPhantom and I have set up a test master server to begin testing and trials for additional Master Server features--leader boards, server lists, and what ever else we can think of and implement.

DP will do the coding and investigating.

One feature I would love to see working again is Direct Connection Servers.

Thanks to Jedikiller, our forum database size was reduced from 130 MB to about 30 MB with some cleanup.

Hopefully our forum will run a bit more smoothly now.

Hi SWBFgamers,

You may or may not know, but when Kalle set up the Gamemaster master server with JediKiller, I did not have the technical knowledge to participate in the setup and was had no way to set up the software again if the MS completely crashed.  We have been without a safety net for the past two years.

However, I recently had a breakthrough with mysql databases in linux and I have been able to set up a second, separate MS.  There are some implications of this:

• if anything happens to the current MS, I can put up a backup in a few hours time


• I have a backup MS running at home now, and I can clone the MS.  If usage drops too low to justify paying for a rental server, I can just host it from my home.


• The backup MS can serve as a testbed.  I am willing to open up the backup MS for knowledgeable modders/programmers in good standing at SWBFgamers.com to explore how to add features.  Leaderboards can be made available by someone with the right knowledge and experience.

There are still some things that I do not know how to do yet, such as add new keys to the database for other games, but we can explore these options now that we have a testbed to work with.


While I am no stranger to programming, I have learned a lot over past couple of years from domain registration, internet records setup, DNS setup, IIS setup, linux setup, and now a little mysql.

Upcoming downtime with power cycle early on 11/27 due to cabinet migration


Our facilities provider in Chicago, Internap, is requiring that we move several cabinets' worth of gear in this facility over to new cabinets. We have been planning these moves for the last month and coordinating with Internap to try to make them as smooth as possible. We have done such moves successfully many times in the past.

The moves are set to occur over the course of several mornings (we are doing them early in the morning to minimize customer impact). On November 27, between approximately midnight and 8am CST, we plan to move the equipment in the cabinet hosting your specific service. This means that you will see your service gracefully shut down at some point during the window (close to the beginning of it), and booted back up later in the window (as soon as we have finished moving all of the gear -- at least a few hours later).

We will be taking every precaution to be as careful as we can with your hardware. However, there is always the possibility that a hardware problem will be revealed by the move. Because of this, we strongly recommend that you back up any irreplaceable data that you may have stored on the server.

If you require very high levels of uptime and the hours of downtime will cause problems for you on the 27th, please contact us, and we can investigate how we can help, such as by providing a temporary service or moving you to other hardware. (While most of our cabinets in Chicago will need to be moved, a couple will remain in place, and those will only see downtime when our router is migrated later in the week -- less than 30 minutes.)
