Requests / FC-1 Flechette Launcher?
November 17, 2019, 09:27:22 PM
This might be the wrong board/section to ask about this, but does anyone know where I can get a model for the FC-1 Flechette from JK2/JKA? I was looking around here and on Gametoast, and it appears that Repsharpshooter had one, but the links are all dead.

Would you by any chance have anymore lost files from GameFront or GameToast?

Only my own, I think...

I have some assets, but I'm not sure what among them are missing.

Snake's story is really cool!

I don't have as dramatic of one, but I have to admit SWBF was a huge factor in my life as well. It was the first "proper" FPS (I had a couple old tactical shooters, including the original Rainbow Six, but I think I was too much of a dumb kid to understand them at the time) I ever owned, and I played the hell out of it in my mid-teens. Then I discovered modding (Thule Moon: Remnants was the first map I ever downloaded) and subsequently good ol' Filefront.

Through Filefront I made my way into the modding community, and though BF1 was already declined dramatically by that time (BF2 got all the attention, so my maps sat in the queue for way too long all the time), I churned out quite a few maps and had a blast.

Thanks to the BF Filefront site, I learned of all the other Filefront sites across their network, which led me to JK2/JKA Files. I'm not sure if it was through JKAFiles or SWBFFiles that I found Star Wars: Fanon in the process, but I wound up there for a while too, writing fan-fiction articles and putting me on the road to fiction writing.

Then perhaps the biggest thing ever in my life happened; during one of the periods when Break Media "broke" the Filefront network, a poll went out on JKA files that wound up spawning a spontaneous Role-Play game among some of the bored members there. I was one of them, of course. After spamming the hell out of two polls in a row, we moved to ModdB and started a Role-Play group to continue our (awful) story. Sadly, that more or less killed my modding career (as well as my Fanon writing), because the role-playing took up all my time. Soon I had ceased doing any modding for Battlefront or for JK2, and largely for the last eight or so years, my time has mostly been spent with that same RP group. Some of the original members are my best friends now, and I've even seen a couple IRL (despite them living hundreds of miles away).

In addition, both the RPing and my experience working with ODFs set me on my career path as a web graphic designer, as the RPing made me want to be able to draw my characters (still can't do that very well though) and when I went to school, in addition to learning Illustrator and Photoshop, we also learned HTML and CSS coding, which I picked up with ease. And subsequently I now have a job that has allowed me to buy a house and live on my own...

And now coming full circle, I found myself very disappointed with the DICE Battlefronts (the first one is better than the second, despite its AWFUL balancing, but both suck), and recently decided I wanted to reinstall and play the classics. And once I did that, I wanted my old mod maps, and once I found I couldn't simply download them anymore, I had to dig up my files and...

Well, here I am.  :tu:

Glad to see you back!  Some of your maps were among the first I played when I learned about mods and modding.
I hope you'll find that we have the resources you need!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed them!

So far I think I've been finding everything I need to from here.

Also, luckily, most of my tools were intact and are working just fine, so it's a matter of digging all the scattered assets I had everywhere.

Mine Pit, while having very interesting design and use of vehicles, has odd building placement that doesn't make the place seem like a real location.

Also, apparently there are heroes that are amazing at this game, but I can never seem to find them, haha.

I think I had originally planned for Mine Pit to be an entirely sea-based battle (as evidenced by the fact that the folder is named "SEA" and not "DulMP". And I was a dumb teenager who had no clue what I was doing. ::) If I get into the hang of doing this stuff again, I might try to remake it and do it as a more realistic strip mine design.

And the heroes are hard to find because the Clone Commander is just a tan ARC Trooper and the Duulanian leader is an officer with different face. Easy to miss them completely as they are not very distinct.

Duulan: Mine Pit 2.0

http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1523

The 2.0 version of Duulan: Mine Pit. This file was apparently lost during the Filefront shutdown, and I managed to find it in my old files. So I am reuploading it to the public now.

Readme:
QuoteExtract folder SEA to your Star Wars BattlefrontGameDataAddOn folder.

Duulan: Canyon Village 3.1

http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1524

Third version of Duulan: Canyon Village. Map was apparently lost in the Filefront shutdown, so I'm reuploading it again. Made some tweaks because the version I found had to be remunged and I found some problems. Of course, I forgot how frustrating Zeroeditor can be in my eight-year hiatus, so I spent more time fixing new problems I created than actually improving the map... Whatever.

Changes in the readme below:

QuoteExtract folder DulC to your Star Wars BattlefrontGameDataAddOn folder.

Version 3.1
-Fixed lightning issue (not sure if this was actually an issue in the 3.0 or something I had done afterward)
-Fixed ground lighting (same as above)
-Added sound for the rain
-Buffed mounted repeater
-Adjusted paths
-Tweaked sky file
-Minor terrain adjustments

Awesome.  I recall your name.

Take a good look around--there have been some cool new discoveries and mods for SWBF1  :)

:tu:

I already read through that one thread about weird stuff found in LUA and ODF files, which was an interesting read. When I get time I'm gonna try to do more searching around, though alas, I am far more busy these days than I was the first time around. That said, I am absolutely in love with Sereja's Kholma map and the things he did with it, so that makes me really excited for stuff I hope I can do.

Oh! Some old maps making a return? NICE!

I will hopefully get those posted some time soonish.

Welcome Center / Ty294 has entered the Battlefield

Hello there,

Ty294 here. I used to mod for Battlefront way back in the day (during the waning days of ol' FileFront), though I haven't been active for many years.

I recently reinstalled the Battlefront games with the desire to play some of the old mod maps, only to find that some of my more recent ones were MIA and apparently not salvaged for download anywhere online. And when I tried to find them in my old backup files, I thought for a while that I may have lost them over the past several computer transfers. Luckily (and with some prayers to the patron Saint of lost stuff), I managed to find almost everything (unless there is a Europa Caves 4.0, in which case I haven't found that).

I had seen a thread here (though it's older) where some people where looking for Duulan: Mine Pit 2.0 and Duulan: Canyon Village 3.0. I've got them, though I only had the work folder for the latter, and when I munged it I wound up with some weird errors with the lightning and the ground lighting... so I'm gonna try and fix that and release a 3.1 at some point here.

Anyway, hoping to slooowly work my way back into doing a little bit for BF1, since I've periodically had that desire to keep modding over the years. And now I feel I might actually know what I'm doing this time (once I relearn the code and stuff)!
