I'd like to note:my modding collection consists of mods by Ty294, Gogo12, ports from bf2 and the psp games,full on conversion like star fire,bf legacy among some other random ones. If anything of these categories seems to be missing, let me know and I will upload it when i get the chance.

I believe Aspyr will keep servers up for a while. In businesses nowadays (4.0), nobody would invest in short-term projects.
Also, it would generate disengagement with customers (if not asking for a refund) if after paying around 30€/35$ for a game, it quickly loses what is advertised on its promotion page about internet multiplayer.

SWBFSpy remains a public alternative for SWBF players who choose to use it.

As soon as we have a stable server expertise for the CC, we'll set up servers there too.

There's not one source. Questions had been asked several times by different players and asked if we had more information. So we decided to make it clear that whatever the outcome is, SWBFGamers will be there to support, and we won't be shutting down SWBFSpy.

As you might have read online, SWBF will be re-released with some match-making function instead of the classic MP server choice we have had since the game was released 20 years ago.

It is clear that now SWBF has lacked activity, and this is perhaps a decision taken by Disney/LucasArts as a means to boost it somehow. However, SWBFSpy will remain functional as it has been for the past 8 years. SWBFSpy is here to stay 

Once the game is re-launched we'll find what is needed to revert the changes and share it with everyone. Take into account that we know just as much as you do on this matter.

When the new system is launched, we'll make sure to support it as well.

If there are any questions, feel free to drop them, and we'll try to have them answered ASAP.

This info does not apply to the original Server Manager. Have a closer look at what the author is posting.

To switch teams, option must be enabled, and also, you need to be dead (re-spawn)

The AddOn folder comes by default in SWBF2, which should make it easier. I searched the forums but can't seem to find a tutorial on hosting mod maps, but I believe it was posted somewhere... However, MK's guidance in the prev reply should do it
