I'm ordering parts for a PC (hopefully) this week, but I'm hoping a few of you could look through the parts to make sure what I've got picked out is what I need.  I've never built a PC, so I'm sure I could make some adjustments.

Here's my list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/zaccentric/saved/

I need it to run the following:

- the Dolphin emulator
- the new and upcoming Battlefront games
- FL Studio
- Photoshop (and other Adobe products)

I don't need the best parts, but I'd prefer parts that won't need upgraded soon.

Any help is appreciated.

-edit:  I could also use some keyboard, mouse, and headphone recommendations

Looks like a really good pc, I'm very jealous of your prices. ;)

The only thing I think you're missing is a solid state drive, they make a massive difference to startup times and mean copying files/photos around your pc will be almost instant.

You can get a 1tb one for a decent price (although still 4-500 us dollars I think)  or just a 120 as a second hard drive with your operating system and your most used programs on it.I would recommend the Samsung 850 which I've got.

Only other thing I would be tempted to add is a bit more ram since its cheap and games are always using more but that would be easy enough to get in the future.
I play less now but I'll always be around, lets keep this site and battlefront going. :)

Heh.  Funnily enough, the 850 series is what I had picked out a while ago, but I must've deleted it on accident.  I decided to go with 250GB instead of 120, but I plan on using it for my OS and the programs that I use a lot, like you said.

I wasn't sure how much RAM I'd need--the only serious game I've ever played is SWBF, and it doesn't use a whole lot.  I'll probably hold off unless I end up needing it.

Thanks, gdh

As for the OS I would never get Windows 10
If you must have Windows than get Windows 7
otherwise this will work great (Your programs might work on it. just try. and if they don't work than you can install Windows over it. no harm done.)

Zorin 11:https://sourceforge.net/projects/zorin-os/files/11/zorin-os-11-core-64.iso/download

Hope this helps  :D

I appreciate you looking through Newegg, but I've been picky about my parts and I'd prefer to keep my build as close to what it is as possible.

Why do you recommend 7 over 10?  I'm running 10 on my Surface with no problems, but I don't use it for gaming.

GTX 1080 is an overkill playing on a 1080p monitor. Is it necessary to have get 2 monitors? because you can get a 1440p monitor which look nice on games and you will get you moneys worth on the gtx 1080. There's also 1440p ultra wide monitors and they are even better looking.

QuoteWhy do you recommend 7 over 10?

Well with Windows 10 you get a computer that controlls you.
with every update of Windows 10 you get less and less controll.
and the Windows 10 lisence gives Microsoft the right to take
any of your documents, remove any of your programs, well
realy the they have the right to do anything to your PC.
but with Windows 7 you still mostly have controll and its
just more privet but still it has its issues to(as all OSes do).
You can read more about it for your self.

witch Is why I also use Linux and if it will run all your programs in wine(Zorin comes defalt with wine)
It would be great.
the dolphin emulater should work on Linux
there are software alteratives for Linux
the new battlefronts might work on Linux.

But you should probaly get Windows 7
it should definatly run all your programs.
and it doesn't spy as much as Windows 10.

I need 2 monitors, and I've even considered getting a third.  I do a lot of programming and web design for college, and the second screen makes everything much easier.

I didn't realize the GTX 1080 was overkill, so I'll probably upgrade my monitors once they're more affordable.  (Hopefully there are some good Black Friday deals this year.)

I'm definitely sticking with Windows, but I'll explore my options.  Thanks for your help.
