Now that Windows 8 has arrived, I have now begun to fully sink into using Windows 7.

I ran across some programs that would not install under win 7, and discovered (yes, old news) that win 7 supports a virtual XP mode.

1) must have win 7 pro or ultimate
2) must enable hardware virtualization in BIOS
3) must get at least two of the three pieces of software here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
xp mode and virtual PC.   note that nothing happens until after these two are installed first.
you will need to validate your copy of win 7 pro a few times to get the MS goodies.

this may be useful for people running old mungers and things, although I know that there are some win 7 fixes

PS.  Hurry if you want it:

Is Windows XP Mode supported throughout the lifecycle of Windows 7?

No. Windows XP Mode is a full virtual version of Windows XP and follows the same support lifecycle as
Windows XP. Windows XP extended support phase ends in 2014.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet

There is also an unofficial version of windows 98 that I have working. As far as I know none of the free virtual programs will run games as they don't recognise 3D hardware though.
I play less now but I'll always be around, lets keep this site and battlefront going. :)

Would compatability mode work? The only program i know that wouldnt is myst, but that thing barely worked on xp
