SWBF1 Modding / 8 by 8km map issue

I am playing around with 1024(2048 was too unstable) map size witch is about 8 by 8km but the trouble is that when you walk a certent distance about 1 or 2km i think form the center you die but if you are in a vehicle you will not. as soon as you hop out you die.

how can i fix this? so that you can be anywhere in the map as a unit without death?

and also does anybody know if a map like this can handle many objects?(standard battlefront quality)
like a small town or village north of some greenery around on large hills a river and a few ponds.

most of you probaly all ready know this but here we go.

So this past week I have been messing with vehicle speed and map size(and the tape mesure under paths in ZE).

and have discovered this.

projectile velocity, vehicle speed and unit speed are messured in kph.
the tape messure under paths in ZE messures in meters.(duh)
when you create terrian in ZE it is also in meters.
and you can make a 2x2 km map. I tried to make 4x4 km as well but ZE will not load the world after exit and terrain will not munge. not sure If a 2x2 km map would work out very well with a lot of objects and things but a basicaly blank map works fine for me.
And also with wings 3D 1 square on the grid = 1 meter

But the thing is that when you compare units to say a 2 meter tall object the size looks wrong.
But it is not. I have done the math with vehicle speed and map size going across the map and timing my travel time to get the distance. and varries other things.
witch means that the units are 2 meters tall! that is about 6-9 in imperial! -those dudes are big

I guess there is that whole thing about prespective and stuff but in ZE the tape mesure has the letter m after the number witch stands for meters so I am pretty sure that this is the way it works.

and here are a few fun "facts" based on this "discovery".

these numbers are rounded.
rebel sniper rifle max range is 83m(273ft)
rebel most rifle max range is 33m(109ft)
rebel torpedo launcher max range 122m(401ft)

to get the max range of a weapon take the lifeSpan divide it by 3600 and multiply that number by the velocity
and you have it's range in km you can multiply km by 1000 to get it in meters you can multiply meters by 3.28 to get feet

and the CIS droid fighter can fly as fast as a ford model-T can drive!(72kph or 45mph).

but anyway I hope this is use full to someone.

SWBF1 Modding / multi fire point for weapons?

not shure where i should post this but here we go.
Hello I am trying to make a inf_weapon use multi hard points to fire from all at once
I already have the model done with all the HPs and working I just need to get the ODF
use them all. and was wondering if anyone here could help
I am just using a part from the bowcaster's ODF for now so offset of bullets is correct.

I will give a pic of the real pistol I am making the model from to give you an idea of what I mean.

btw i can already make it shoot 3 bullets from 1 hp I just need it to shoot 1 bullet from each hp.

1000 pardons for no warning on my absence (it sorta sneaked up on me).
I just got so wrapped up in "real life" that I never got around to visiting.
but I am back now and will try to be more active on this site.
not to make you think that i think I am so important that SWBFGamers
would be in a rage about my absence. but just letting you know.

SWBF1 Modding / Runtime error!

when I try to start zero edit it says runtime error

I allredy try'd the fixes from the other posts but none of them would work.
this PC always did this.
is there some hack or somthing to get by this?

it is a win7 PC with 3 GB of RAM and a single core 2,20 GHZ CPU
and built in graphics. (no graphics card.)

and again none of the fixes i found on here would work. eg, no spaces, compadibilty, update zero edit bla bla bla.

any sugestions?

I am not sure if this is the place to post this but here we go.

My only PC that could handle zeroEdit has finally died.  :'(
It was the most powerful PC I ever owned.
And now I may never finish a mod I was working on
nor the haunted house mod I was going to make.
But I can always ask my friend to let me use his PC
If ever I get time to anyway.  :P

It's specs were:

Ram 8,0 GB
CPU: 5 core 3,0 GHZ
HDD: 1 TB (had to wipe it to get it to work  :()

Now I am stuck with this:

RAM: 3,0 GB
CPU: single core 2,20 GHZ
HDD: 150 GB(I put my 1 TB in it aswell)

at least I have my 1360 X 768 68 cm(27 in) TV as
my monitor.  :D 

The PC I am using now can handle wings 3d and xsi
so I can still make weapon .msh files and can probbaly
test them out on a friends PC.

please note: I am not a "Scummy" for posting here.

I need to know how you make a guy in SWBF1 hold a gun that is has got an grip like this one(madsen LMG)



see the above grip(madsen LMG) v.s the below(AK-47)



what I am trying to say is how do you make a swbf1 guy hold the gun like it is the first photo(madsen LMG)

the first photo has a grip that is strait acroos the second has a strait up grip. can you tell me how or if I change how it is held in swbf1 so it does not look so weird how he holds it.(the madsen LMG)

oh and if you can move the other hand somwhere else on the gun too.

Well guys
I guess I am not leaving but will be here alot less now. :'(
I have got lots of things I have to do in real life.
but i will still drop in now and then and welcome new people.
and will release a few more moddels now and then when I have time to.

but before I go I need some help with a few gun models.
and will make a post about that now.

I don't know if this is right to post but here we go.

on the SWBFgamers.com-Battlefront server sometimes it says there is 1 players on server with over 102 kills even if there is still 200\200 reniforcements I join and no one is there. I leave and it says they are there with hundreds of kills again.

this is not realy a problem but it gets a bit anoying and i'm also curios as why its hapening.
is it a trick to get people to play on that server?(sorta like on the walking dead battlefront server.)
is it a glitch?

Please don't think me to be rude or offenceve (cuase thats the way people alwase seam to inturpret my posts.)
and I'm not blaming anyone. I just wanna know.
and if you don't like me asking this just tell me to bug off.

I hope this is the right place to post this

I want to make a SWBF1 gameserver on Linux in a VM.
for SWBF1 PC players.
could anyone please tell me what the specs of the VM
should be?

I would prefer it to be Linux running in the VM.
but if I have to I might be able to find a win2000 iso
for it.
I'm using virtualbox by the way

and how to make it host mod maps aswell.
please step by step easy follow instrustions.

I hope someone can help.

Requests / special letters for swbf1?

I hope this is the right place to post this but here we go.

I am wondering if anyone has made a mod or is willing to make a mod or really more of a patch that
will let you type in odd letters from other languages than english in the name box and online talking
thingy like for example "Ø Å Æ" and so on I have the letters on my keyboard but it won't type when
I press them so is there any way to let it type other letters in the game text for swbf1. if it does not exest
could someone plaese make it. if its posable.

I know there are other people who would like something like this cause its hard to talk in a language
that the letters don't even show up in game.
and I know its not polite to talk in a forn language when others who don't know it are there but i would
like to use it when just me and a buddy are playing (some people have realy bad english and would like to talk in there
native language when ever posable)

so basically a mod that lets you type all the symbols and letters there are in ascii.
just maybe a little restrictive when it comes to names so you don't end up with " / or ?
that could be problumatic if your OS doesn't alow those charactors.
/ would defenitly be a no no

i made a 3d model in wings (a weapon) and export it as obj (and yes i did triangulate it)
import it into xsi and put all the hp_junk in it and use ZE tools to export msh but it has an error

I put every Desktop OS I could think
of but i didn't put all the Linux distros
that would be tortchure cuse there
are literly thousands of  them  :happy:

Hi everybody  :wave: i'm new here... as you can see.

I love SWBF1 & play it almost every day.
I love modding it... uh even tho i stink at it :confused:
but i'm not to bad at side modding 8)
witch I either have to use a freinds windows pc or windows in a VM to get zero edit to work
or for munging but i can us a hex editor for some of it and oh by the way if you didn't guess
from the name I use Linux. best OS around for now. except mac maybe but i never used a mac before

I'm REALY exited about joining swbfgamers  :tu: :cheer: :cheers: :happy: :sleep: :D :rofl:
i'v done a few mods in my life but nothing awsome for one i did a side mod of the republic
where boba fett replaces the jet trooper and jango fett replaces the sharpshooter and they
have custom weapons but any body could do that :happy: but if you guys wan't i could release
that for you i'd be more than happy to :happy:
but you should ask somebody who's good at that stuff. not that i'm bad at it.

(I'l probaly start using som of Sereja's weapons only customized)

i will be releasing a few things like:

(How-to) Playing SWBF1 multiplayer via Linux in Wine:  by: wyatt8740 only applied to other OSes like mac and windows(if its legal ) :happy:

a side mod for the republic that will give them more interesting weapons(or somthing)

more realistic modern weapon odfs like the m4a1, ak47 and a few others because i am sick and tired of people using unrealistic modern weapons in there mods :sick:.   

but don't expect any thing i might never finish them
and please don't request anything of me yet intel i'm used to relising stuff :happy:

my goal is to become a master swbf1 moder :graduated:  :superman:

please don't think that i'm bragging i'm just a nobody its just that i'm sooOOO exited to be here :cheer:
