Release thread here: http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=13685.msg122784#msg122784

It's a command line program, make sure to read the readme.  It's not hard to use, but it works best when the videos you have and the program are in the same folder.

Beware, Xbox (xmv) video files (on either version) don't extract correctly, for whatever reason that I have not ascertained.  However, I don't think there's anything different about them other than a lower than PC quality and if there is, the PS2 version would have it (which there's a whole bunch of steps to get from point a to b.  It's been on my fix list for months and have gotten no further.

Well... I build the exe from latest source, used the tool to extract some videos, ftp'd them over to my Xbox and they seemed to play ok.
Looking at a binary diff of an extracted xmv video and a .mvs file, the extracted video seemed like it was correct.
The videos seemed off center on my monitor during playback, but the other .xmv videos (from other games) on the HDD that I tried seemed to behave the same way.

How sure are you that it doesn't work right?

SWBF2 Modding / SWBF mvs files discussion

Will do;

Do you think the source movies were all in .bik format and then converted to .mvs with MovieMunge.exe?
I've not tried movieMunge.exe yet, but I'm curious if it does the work of converting .bik to .mvs.
I don't think the console input video lists are present in the mod tools, so I'm not sure what the input file types were for Xbox.
But looking at Shell/munge.bat (SWBF2):
for %%A in (%MUNGE_ROOT_DIR%\%SOURCE_SUBDIR%\%MUNGE_PLATFORM%\*.mlst) do moviemunge -input %%A -output %MUNGE_ROOT_DIR%\_LVL_%MUNGE_PLATFORM%\Movies\%%~nA.mvs -checkdate 2>>%MUNGE_LOG%

That "-output ...mvs" argument makes me think that all we may need is the .bik files for the input and the .mvs would be created for us.

Thanks for the link!
I'll take a peek at the code too, what version of visual studio did you  use? 2019?

How did you extract the .bik files?

I wasn't able to find this 'Dark_Phantom' video extractor tool mentioned.
I'd like to try and extract the .bik files from the SWBF2 (Xbox, PC, PS2) movie files.

Nevermind guys! I fixed ZeroEdit, now I just need the SWBF2 from Steam!

BAD_AL here is a map that will work on PS2, go to the FEL folder in LVL_PS2 and Delete FEL.lvl, and paste this lvl and rename it to FEL.lvl.

You should be able to attach something to the post.
Did you run this on am emulator or PS2 hardware?

Did you need to create a new ISO to run it?

I've been trying to get a test map running on the PS2 the past couple nights.
And getting things to work on the PS2 seems SO PAINFUL. If anyone has tips or knowledge on running stuff on PS2 hardware let me know.

I've tried running the game's ELF from USB without success.

I'm curious how a game is stored on the PS2's HDD. Is it stored in a special format?
Or does do the files in the ISO just get extracted to a folder (like on Xbox)?

If we don't find an easy way to get stuff to work on PS2, I cannot see many mods coming to it.

The Xbox on the other hand, has been much easier to get working.

There is a 'No DVD' modtools program we use now. I think I got it from ModDB.

Gametoast.com is a better resource for modders.

Start with this thread:

You will probably find my Xbox 'research topic' thread useful too:

I don't yet have all the tools needed to make PS2 and Xbox mods easy, but I've got enough to get them running.
I've got my starter map working on the Xbox and am trying to figure out the best way of booting the Game on PS2 (hopefully it doesn't require creating an iso each time).

After modifying this file, what do you have to do to play it?
Do you have to create another iso or can you just replace it and boot the SWBF2 executable somehow?

Teancum is apparently reviving his Xbox project because of that tool. At least that's what I heard

Yea, I started asking questions about building for Xbox over at gametoast and he'd answer my questions. I 'd post progress updates and I think he got interested from there. I'm pretty sure he had already decided to revive the Xbox project before he knew about the Lua Decompiler. But I was able to decompile a lot of what he needed (missionlist and mission files), so that does makes it easier.

Welcome Center / Hello SWBF Gamers & Mod masters

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty new here.
I've been a SWBF2 game lover for several years now.
Mostly played on the Xbox and it's still my favorite version (for 4-player on the couch action!).
I'm over at Gametoast under the name 'cbadal' and I would like to help enable playing (and porting) SWBF2 mods across all the devices that support SWBF2 (PC, Xbox, PS2, PSP; most interested in Xbox though).

I am a Computer programmer by trade and have previously worked on Roster update tools for Tecmo Super Bowl and NFL2K5 (NFL2K5Tool is still a WIP) as hobby projects.

Over the last couple months I started learning about making SWBF2 maps and spent a good amount of effort figuring out how to get it running on the Xbox. I recently started writing a Lua 5.0.2 decompiler to help make porting mods easier. I'm not sure I'll be able to get it to be able to recover everything, but I've gotten the easy stuff out of the way at least :P

You can see these projects over at github:

PC version is currently $10 at GOG.com.

If you are going to be testing maps, it is the best way to do an initial check before loading up on another platform.
