I wasn't paying attention to the conference right before this, so when it came on I thought it was a Frostbite demo. Holy crap, did not expect the speeder crashing and the AT-AT leg, best surprise I've had in ages.

This game will absolutely be 2-3 years off, but it really looks like the Star Wars franchise is going to be rolling in the next gen

I know it's great news, but this isn't really that surprising. Battlefront is arguably the biggest franchise that Star Wars currently has, and EA has DICE working on new games. It might be a couple years before anything comes out, but at least the franchise probably has a future.

wow...so I need to log in once a day? And if I want to lend a game to a friend, he needs to cough up some bucks just to play it? hmm, yeah thanks microsoft. Thanks for making it easier for me to buy a ps4 :D, xbox one is more like a TV than a console, I alreayd own a tv box, dont need to spend 400-600 on another one.

That rumor about having to pay to play used games is false.

Also, I'm sure Microsoft won't be forcing you to log in regularly. I do understand the TV argument, but cable is really damn expensive and using the Xbox to watch Netflix or whatever is a lot more convenient for some people.

This conference kinda sucked, at least they actually revealed the console and controller. I don't, however, think we should've expected anything less than Microsoft showing off random features of the Xbox. I do think that the social stuff is pretty cool, I know a lot of people use the Xbox for watching movies/tv, so it does make sense to advertise it as an all-in-one device.

Microsoft can announce all of the hardcore games at E3, and it sounds like they'll have a lot of new franchises to premiere. Should be a pretty good convention this year.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is so awesome, how could I be negative? The squad system is brilliant! It's all just so well done. This has me with high hopes for whatever DICE put out. (Plus Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is before the super greedy EA era.)

I do love BioWare's games as well, I recently finished playing through Mass Effect 2 that thing is amazing. Although I am slightly scared about Mass Effect 3 since it is an Origin era game, but I'll pick it up and play through it at some point.

Just download the Extended Cut DLC, and the ending for the game is somewhat decent. The rest of the game is an absolute masterpiece, except for a couple of things.

I dislike a lot of EAs business practices (I know I'm a hypocrite because I play SWTOR) but they do have some talented developers so hopefully we can have some good games. At least Disney has licenced out the games to a console/pc based publisher.

Honestly, like kotaku said, they can't be any worse than Lucasarts. Lucasarts pulled the rushed deadline crap with KOTOR 2 just like EA has.

Also, I don't know if Visceral is going to do a survival horror game, but they do make games with amazing and grim environments, which leads me to believe they might try a 1313 type of project, showing the grim underbelly of the star wars universe. That could be cool.

I'm pretty impressed that Disney didn't sit on the IP for awhile, and that they licensed Star Wars games to a publisher with the studios, the money, and the talent to produce great AAA games. The potential for a DICE SWBF3 with massive space/air battles is unbelievable.

Edit: Even though Bioware already made SW:TOR, and there probably won't be any more KOTOR games, I can't help but think there are a lot of other settings that Bioware could explore for RPG's.

This doesn't mean bad news necessarily, the quote says they will shift from internal development to licensing outside sources.  The big question is will we ever get a SWBF3, and could we get it faster with this new move?

An important thing to also remember, is that some of the best Star Wars games in the last 10 years have been made by outside developers.

Examples: Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, and both Star Wars Battlefront games.

So this could be either really good, or really bad, in terms of the future of star wars games. 1313 looked like a decent game, but I don't know if I would have gotten it...First Assault looked like it would be the first step to a 3rd SWBF, so that's unfortunate.

This could turn into Disney sitting on the game licenses for awhile and being stingy about allowing development, but perhaps we'll see Star Wars picked up by big-time game developers. I wonder if Disney would let Obsidian develop another star wars game, there's a lot of potential there.

I wouldn't over react to this quite yet, since Star Wars games can certainly still be made.

This still kinda sucks though, and Lucasarts was a good developer for a while, RIP.

Wise words from a wise man.

I'd be up for a night of SWBF2. Do you guys want to just join public servers, or should we plan for a couple mod maps as well?

Other Games / Re: Zombie Games?

You could get the free version of Arma 2, but I'd just spend the 10-15 bucks and get Arma 2: Combined Operations. Dayz is a pretty good mod, and while I haven't played it much since the optimization in Arma 2 sucks, leading to frame drops for me, I think it's the closest thing you'll find to the experience of a zombie apocalypse.

There's also a standalone Dayz coming out sometime this summer, so if you're willing to wait a few months you can play that.
